  • @MsBeccaboo429 yes it is

  • What kind of shampoo ?

  • how long does it take your brushes to dry after using this on them?

  • @MakeupWithAbbyG with the squirt bottle all u do is hold the brushes under the water upside down (u dont want water getting into the farrel and u need to dampen them befor u use this stuff) then u just squirt a lil of this stuff and rinse it off then set out to dry=)

  • does shampoo do the same job as olive oil would?

  • Comment removed

  • How do you apply it to the brushes from the squirt bottle? Do you just spray the brushes?

  • @MakeupWithAbbyG You can also (for a quick clean) is just sprits some on a tissue then mix your brushes on the damp tissue, it'll clean, i promise. :] Remember that's for a QUICK clean.

  • olive oil is better , its deep cleanses and soften your brush and moisturise the hair.

    try it out

  • Thanks so much, this helped me alot :)

  • Is this a daily brush cleanser like the spray form or one in which you spray and rinse them off then let dry. Thanks for the tutorial!!

  • K so used *regular* conditioner instead & it turned out very cloudy.

I shook the bottle & even mixed it so it could even out, & it still hasn't evened out :/

    I hope it will work well anywaysthough :{

  • Wooh! Thanks! I'm going to try this:)

No need to spend 50,000,000 dollars hahah:)

  • i use baby shampoo and conditioner works well so far.

  • do you not need to rinse this after ? x

  • great video couple of questions... 1. do yoou use this on your makeup brushes?.. 2. how much would all of this cost approximately?.. 3. would this stain makeup brushes especially white ones?.. 4. how long does it last approximately?.. 5. do you spray this directly on your brushes or do you spray it on a paper towel and back and forth wipe you brushes on it?.. i know you put up this video a long time ago but it would be great if you replied the answers to my questions. thank you :)

  • @juicystar09love I didn't make this video, but I can answer a few of your questions. Cost? Filtered water is practically free if you have a water filter (built into fridge, pitchers, sink filters) or you could spend a dollar on a bottle of water. Rubbing alcohol should cost under $5 a bottle (in fact that's a high price). The shampoo she used looked like Suave, which cost around $3 a bottle. Doing the math you would be using $1.75, at most, worth of products each time you make it.

  • @juicystar09love And the other answer I have for you (couldn't fit it in my other comment) is that she says that it won't stain your brushes around 2:57 in the video as well as in the information box.

  • Just take extra virgin olive oil and a plate. Pour a little puddle of the oil onto the plate and take your brushes and start moving it in small circles on the plate, u can see the bacteria actually coming off cuz the oil turns a dark brown color. :) this conditions the bristles and doesn't dry the hair like pretty much every other brush cleanser out there, u r brushes will still be good to use. Rinse off the brushes with just plain cool water after the oil trick and leave to air dry. (:

  • hahhahaha "if you want it to look like MAC's brush cleaner.." hahaha i bet some ppl really did put food coloring in and said it was from MAC :P

  • @lmtwinkle You can use normal conditioner, however it doesnt mix as well and you may get a cloudy cleanser... it should be fine though. This is the cleanser I use to clean my brushes daily after use. Then once or twice a month I deep clean them by actually washing them under running water with baby shampoo :)

  • @skullgurl10 Awe your so sweet, thank you :)

  • do i have to wash my brushes after this?

  • @TheVanitydoll Nope this cleans them up very well. I would just deep clean them once or twice a month.

  • THANKYOU SOO MUCH!

  • @thehairification You're very welcome :)

  • Thanx 4 sharing this info!!!! I'm going 2 try it out tonight!!!!!

  • @Mstoot7 hi i know you commented this comment 5 months ago but i just wanted to ask since you said you were going to try it out that night if you did does 'HilsHeavenScents' method work? if you added the color does it stain or dye your makeup brushes cause i'm concerned if i do add color it will stain my makeup brushes white makeup brushes especially.. i just wanted to know.. thank you it would be great if you replied :)

  • @juicystar09love Well I've been using this mixture since the 1st time that I saw this vid&it works VERY WELL!!! I only have 3 white brushes and the food coloring didn't affect them :) If I were u I'd either use a brush that I barely used or buy a cheap white haired brush just to make sure it won't ruin the rest of ur brushes!

  • @Mstoot7 yeah i have some old brushes that i dont use that i could try.. thnx for replying i'll try it out tomorrow :)

  • you could wash them with baby wash if you have more time it gets all the product out and makes the brush soft

  • @MzCarmenBonita Yes that works great, I like to do that to deep clean them every so often :)

  • can i use antibacterial soap, water, baby shampoo and hair conditioner ?? Must i wash my brushes after use homemade brush cleanser ?

  • wait do u use alcohol or rubbing alcohol?

  • @purpleninjaa97 rubbing

  • oh and it has to be anti bacterial soap

  • the best cleanser i have ever used is dawn liquid soap and extra VIRGIN OLIVE Oil,and kind of dab the brushes int the mixture and in a circular motion rotate it on ur hand or a towel and after that rinse the with warm water and let them dry in a cup ...brush part down

let me know how this works out for u!!!

  • does this deep clean or spot clean your brushes?

  • can i use a hand sanitizer ??

  • @filzah102

no you cant it messes up your brushes

the best cleanser i have ever used is dawn liquid soap and extra VIRGIN OLIVE Oil,and kind of dab the brushes int the mixture and in a circular motion rotate it on ur hand or a towel and after that rinse the with warm water and let them dry in a cup ...brush part down

  • Is this for spot cleansing or deep cleansing? (:

  • @kissesinbetween This method of cleaning is spot cleaning. You would need to actually get the brushes wet and either use baby shampoo or something similar to deep clean your brushes. I recommend deep cleaning brushes every week or two weeks and spot clean as often as you can.

  • @AktaShah Haha thanks! I always deep clean my brushes almost everyday but am looking for something to spot clean it!

  • u have to stirr it slowly it is nt suppose to go sudsy

  • Are you supposed to wash off your brushes when you're done?

  • Thanks for the recipe! ☺☼

  • If you use the Palmolive dish detergent with Oxyclean in it that is bright neon pink (one buck a bottle ) for your detergent...you don't have to add color! It comes out the perfect MAC cleanser color!

  • where did u get the colorant?

  • instead of alcohol could you use dishwashing liquid because that its like alchol and it helps get rid of bactirea so yer ??

  • What kind of shampoo do you use? Just your regular kind of shampoo you use daily to shower? Also is this more of a DAILY brush cleanser or something you do about once a week?

  • what food coloring color did you use?

  • would this cleanser be more like a shampoo or like the spray on then wipe off kind?

  • thnks:]

  • great video :)

just wondering, will your normal vodka work just as well ?

  • WAT IS A BRUSH CLEANSER?!?

  • something one might use to clean makeup brushes :)

  • wats a brush...?

  • what is the music playing @ the beginning from?

  • can we use a nail polish alcohol remover?

cos idk where to get the alcohol.

  • Oh goodness, no. Don't use nail polish remover. It will ruin your brushes. You can get rubbing alcohol at any drug store :) It only costs like 75 cents.

  • oh thanks !

    mk, ill check.

    thanks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • No problem :)) Just so you know, the department in the store to look in will be the First Aid supplies, like band-aids and such :)

  • ok thanks.

    that is more helpful. (:

  • can u use food colouring?

  • Yes just only put a drop or two.

  • i know u already answered the "is this for spot cleaning" question, but i noticed u keep saying u do this so it's fresh for next time, so to me it kinda seems like ur saying it's good for the next job or look etc. i kinda have a diffrent but same question lol, ok so will this be good if for example u want to use just one eyeshadow brush but 3 colors for one look, would this be good to spray on the brush right after u used a blue color to use a red color next? and it would be completely dry too?

  • I totally get what your saying :)) I suppose you could clean it between colors, but your brush would be wet, thus giving you a more foiled "thicker application"... look to your shadow. I myself don't do this, if I'm using the same brush for multiple colors I just wipe it off on a clean tissue or towel. That totally does the trick. Then for the deeper cleaning and disinfecting I use the cleaner.

    Hope this helps :)

  • oh ok :]

but u do this after each use right (like everyday)? and then it'll be fine after it's dry, no foiled look?

thanks for the tip and thanks for replying so quick! this is super helpful :D

  • Your very welcome.

I like to do it everyday, but somedays I slack on it lol. Once it's dry your good to go.

I think it helps your brushes stay nice when you keep them clean :)

  • well actually if u wipeit back and forth on a paper towel it dries farelly quick just get most of it off and dont put too much cleanser to begin with but i wouldnt do it if you were in a rush

  • what is the purple stuff?

  • absolutely loved it!!!! i all ready have this stuff so now i don't have to buy anything because i have a bottle as well thanks!!!!!

  • I'm thinking of making some of this before I go on a trip...do you think it will "sud up" alot if its shaken alot during travel?

  • It will suds up but they will go away. Just make sure it is in a tight container :)

  • thanks!

  • Comment removed

  • how long can it last? until you have run it out or just every week?x

  • Mine usually lasts over a month, maybe two.

  • @x3bab Id like to know this too

  • is this for spot cleaning?

  • Yes, I like using this with a clean cloth every time I use a brush, that way they are clean the next time you use them :)

  • I just made this! :D Hehe I told my dad I was making crack in the bathroom LOL

  • how often do we need to deep clean them?

  • @angelkouari I like to do it at least once a month, although you should prob do it once a week or biweekly. I've gotten lazy about it lol. Spot cleaning does the job in between deep cleansing though and kills the germs.

  • once a week :)

  • this is awsome =] I've been looking for a good homemade recipe for a brush cleaner/clenser =] Thanks !!

  • it is for spot cleaning ?

  • @PregnantWhaleOnE Yes, this is what I do every day or every other day to make sure my brushes stay nice and germ free.
