good video, I am suffering from tension headaches on a daily basis, I have just started anti-depressants in hope of getting rid of them. Your video is really helpful and it is good to know i am not alone in this. I feel like head pain is taking over my life and once I have got though a days work I really don't wanna do anything else anymore.. it sucks like hell -_-
Those neck stretches are great. I had tension headaches several times a week for 15 years, and finally a doctor prescribed Elavil for them, They stopped overnight. Now I get a tension headache maybe once every two months. Thank you for posting this.
am just wondering, is there by any chance do u guys have this sore sensation when u press the top of ur head and from right side of ur ear to ur left side? i just got to know from another masseur that the tightness was due to the swelling on the top of the head hence it causes the muscle to be tight..
Thanks for the Tension headache advice I been fighting Tension Headache's for a very long time!!! I will try the advice u gave in this video!!! Thanks for the video!!!
@LittleLyndsay79 No problem. I also got substantial relief from using my thumb to apply very deep pressure to the front, sides, and base o my neck. I had to push really hard, and even grab my elbow to get more pressure; it hurt super bad, but my neck was insanely tense and I feel better today. Give it a shot! Also, should your jaw be tense, try and keep it relaxed throughout the day.
@LittleLyndsay79 Thanks missgrafix. Check out my other youtube channel at TMJHeadache411. I have a ton of great information up there... its primarily focused around tension headaches from TMJ or teeth grinding, but there's still a ton of stuff on there that will help you out.
Cool my chiro eliminated the shooting pain I had in my head. But like u I still have the pressure. It would feel a lil better after the tratment but the the chiro would also do a short massage. Maybe the massage was helping more than the neck cracking stuff! Ya I agree totally about the western MDs. They would give me a funny look when I said I had a headache all the time. One Dr didnt even believe me!! Did you find out what was making your body so tense and stiff? I
@lovepeacebliss Yeah totally. I have gotten very little help from the majority of doctor's that I've seen. As per the pressure, if you know you grind your teeth, its very possible that you have TMJ. If so, check out a neuromuscular dentist in your area. I have been seeing steady results from mine (though its taken a few months to get there).
@lovepeacebliss my masseur told me that i have been having such prob for a very long time. so i guess it's due to the use of computer and studying. besides writing notes for exam, i had to write super long answer for exam. it hurts but i ignored it until it became worst after 4 years..it's advisable to go for massage every 1 mth to smoothen back the stiffness..
Thanks buddy for posting your vid. I always find vids like these much more helpful than Drs and varies specialists. They just confuse me. Thanx for touching on massage therapy. Thats what Im planning to do next. I was hesitant cuz Im just tired of spending sooooo much money and not seeing results from other therapies. Thanks again.
would like to know where you got the tincture or the full ingredient list, I have had a headache since March 2007 and they can't decide it it's tension or migraine or both.
@1kamh I got mine from a local apothecary/tea shop. Since then, however, I have kind of noticed that the tinctures only helped treat the symptoms and if you really wanna get better, you need to address the root cause
@FTE666 Actually not true at all. Nervines actually help by relaxing the muscles and toning the nervous system, relaxing the system is undoing the tension, so it's not masking symptoms, it is holistically treating the illness.
hey, yeah i know what you're going through ,i've had them for 5 years now,,it got me so stressed i felt i was loosing my mind,,and it does take over your life, it bothers me every day, and thx for the video !
@TheYaom It varies. Posture, stress, diet, TMJ.. there are many factors that contribute to headaches. Tension headaches are caused by muscle tension, yes. They get tight and no blood circulates.
I recently learned that the severe headaches I had been suffering from for several years were caused from severe NECK tension on the muscles on the sides. I had to use STRONG (painful at times) pressure to get them to release, but I feel MUCH better now.
@FTE666 oh I am so sorry for you, I know what you've been through!!! I've been there for the last two years, however I am not getting headaches often but I do get muscle tension and pain on my upper back (trapezius muscle), also on the side of my neck and depending on the pillow I use to sleep I can wake up and develop a strong tension headache.
@TheYaom Its different for everyone, but mine are caused from grinding my teeth. If you hurt a lot in your temporal region, than it may be your cause as well. Other side effects of TMJ are dizziness, hearing problems, tooth wear... if you have any of these, get checked out!
ohh...i'm currently undergoing treatment with a chiropractors..did x-ray and he found out that 3 of my cervical spine disc are misaligned..he suspect that might be the reason why i'm having tension headache..but since it's a rare illness,i get paranoid over everything..cuz the tightness in the skull is happening almost everyday or either that i have pressure ard my head..
i can't take med, each time i take a med,my skull will be even more tight..
@spicesofmylife how did your treatment go? I have chornic upper back pain and the sides of my neck hurt so sometimes i feel pain on my head mostly dull but sometimes quite strong.
ive seen a chiropractor and so far he aligns my neck and put me in a neck traction thing which end up hurting more than anything.
@TheYaom sometimes i have no idea whether i've fully cured or not since the pain is like almost everyday, every hour except when i wake up from myself.but obviously i've seen tremendous improvement after seeing the chiropractor.the chiropractor that i'm seeing rarely treat patients like me but he tries his best to treatment as he found some misalignment in my cervical spine through xray.
@TheYaom first treatment kind of 'cure' it but the pain will come again the next day.it's normal to feel the pain after the treatment as it takes time for your body to adapt to the changes.besides ur vessels need adjustment since there is a possibility that the blood didnt flow to ur brain.u'll feel the changes usually after 5 weeks.
sometimes i even feel like giving up because it takes quite a long time to cure.but have to be patient and to keep going to the therapy weekly without failed.
@spicesofmylife oh thanks so much, u just described what i feel, I go get on that neck traction thing, then have him tap on my neck with his little instrument and i go home feeling weird, then wake up the next day with my upper back in pain and it lasts all day, the second day i feel better but still feel discomfort.
i was about to give up thinking it wasnt working but it's my second visit so i guess i'll stick by it as much as i can
through x ray he found my cervical spine misaligned too.
@TheYaom i'm just curious, does ur chiropractor uses this muscle relaxant machine that they paste on ur shoulder for 15 mins before he or she does the tapping process?
my chiropractor does and each time he uses the machine,i feel like my head muscles become more tight.i didn't bother to ask my chiro cause it may sound as if i'm nuts..but after 2-3 days it doesnt feel as tight as it use too.
@spicesofmylife yes, he uses like some warm thing that relaxes my neck and shoulders, funny enough it doesnt! my first visit to the chiro was mediocre, I went home with a really bad tension headache caused by that neck traction thing pressing on my nerves too tight, the headache went away later in the night.
then i was feeling like the nerve sending flashes of pain in my head that night and it lasted for about two days so i was hesitant about going back, the second time it was better.
may i know if 1 of ur symtopms in tension headache includes like tightness in the skull?like as though there are no frictions and sometimes it gives a clicking sound?
@spicesofmylife tightness in the skull - absolutely. What it feels like to me, is like there is virtually zero movement in my scalp muscles. I never get a clicking sound, but I have heard of that happening in severe cases. I really suggest you getting on a heavy prescription of muscle relaxers, taken before sleep, or even three times a day if your doctor will prescribe them that much.
@FTE666 what are the names of the muscle relaxers? I take fiorocet and fiorocet with coedine but they make my side hurt if I take too much. My doc didnt even want to give me those because "im too young to be taking this stuff"
@lovepeacebliss but do u have tigtness around the head?i went for chiropractor and it did went away 80% however the doc wasnt able to get rid of the tightness.then i went to normal doc and all they could say was "oh sorry no cure for ur illness".from there i gave up on western med.so i went for massage and got to know my whole body was so stiff..i had to go for like 3 days straight then once every month.the pain subside.even my heomopathy doc told me it's tightness and asked me to massage it
@lovepeacebliss it everyday and it will eventually go away.so i guess the most efficient way to eliminate tension headache is to go for massage frequently.try not to take western med as western med have alot of side effects and it's bad for ur health in the long run.do make sure u find a good masseur who knows how to massage or else ur tension headache will not go away.no worries, nothing wrong with ur head,it's actually ur shoulder..=)
I recently hd 2 rt canals through #3 and #5 gold 3 unit bridge, one acute process with advanced bone disease, TX prognosis is good but I hv had persistant headaches ...onset in the frontal, 10 hrs duration borderline incapacitated with nausea I went to the VA todayLOL. Im told the dental did it ,hard to believe, the trigeminal nerve has nothing to do with the frontal any help??
weed helps.

@TheYaom what is this traction thing?
lovepeacebliss 1 year ago
@lovepeacebliss it's a thing that they tie to your head and sort of lift your head up..... this relieves pressure on the spine.
by the way I found that computer MAKES HEADACHES AND NECK PAIN WORST!!!
so if you can go for a walk or a jog and do some weights that make your upper back stronger, your pain might go down in level.
