  • diese musick erinert mich an rudi denn ich sehr dankbar bin das er mich auf die richtige bahn gebracht hatt danke rudi alles gute in himmel ich hab dich vermise dich

  • HEY THAT'S ME AND I WANT YOU ONLY

  • I don't think this song should have been called Thunder Road, being an old guy I remember the movie and Robert Mitchum singing Thunder Road which this song on the video does not even come close to. Only my opinion, not looking for any fights about it.

  • check out my version

  • @charlessupernova no, thanks

  • @everybodysgreen erm.... why bother replying?

  • love this song check me and my bros cover if you want

  • This song is my favorite from Bruce Springsteen. It speaks to my soul. Growing older and realizing that maybe its time to settle with the knowledge that the fairytale is not going to happen..

  • These early performances are so intense

  • 79 people don't know it when they hear good music

  • Play this song a lot at home and sing along. When I emphazise "You ain't a beauty, but hey you're alright" it always pisses my girlfriend off. Very funny.

  • Ah, we were all young once. miss you, Big Man.

  • One of my favourites...the song, the words, the feel...haunting...just like the images of "skeleton frames of burnt-out Chevrolets"...sheer poetry set to music

  • early perfomance of bruce,wonderful

  • what a christmas present this song was....

  • great song period

  • maybe the best boss song:-)

  • For everyone dissing on this video, A) If you don't like the song why are you here???? and B) If you actually listened to the words, you would know that he sings about his life. But no, you feel the need to criticize his voice of all things. People can actually relate to what he sings about. But back to Point A, There is a simple solution for those who do not like Bruce... DON"T LISTEN TO HIM!

  • @420drummer4life AMEN BROTHER

  • he gets distracted at 1:07 ?

  • wow it's amazing seeing one of my favorites play probably my all time favorite song .... live in the 70's 80's 90's and current.... the challenge for the boss is making it better each time, maybe that's unfair, but it sure is the challenge....

  • 79 people are too upset over the Big Man's death.

  • i am a 15 year old girl...and this song never fails to touch me. it is my favorite song and i love it more than anything. RIP Big Man, we all love you and miss you.

  • Gay.

  • I got my driving license today. On my way home I put on this song. The song has never sounded as perfect as right then. When Big Man starts to blow his saxophone the whole world explodes! So did my car!

  • @jackfn1234 "Sorry officer, Thunder Road came on, you know how it is."

  • This is not from 1976

  • Magic. I live in Europe now and every time I listen to him it brings me right back to my childhood in the US.

Sptingsteen captures what America is about better than anyone else.

  • back in 1987...1998....i don't quit....

  • @bosseforever hello from Italy... here Bruce has so many fans.. Love

  • Somebody's quoting John Lydon's opinion on music (and Bruce's music at that) - see below...that's hilarious. unless it's English humour of course, i.e. tongue in cheek.

  • legend

  • Meredith sent me here (?) I think?.

    BUT, on first hearing . . .

BOB DYLAN makes Springsteen sound pathetic.

IMO Springsteen's just a SECOND RATER. "HE PLAYS FOUR AND A HALF HOUR SETS THAT'S TORTURE! Does he hate his audience?" (quote) - John Lydon about Bruce Springsteen.

    sorry

  • This is 1978's live. Largo in april 15th 1978.

  • BRUUUUUUCE..he is fucking Great!!!

  • Pure joy. <3

  • I don't get it. This could only appeal to people who are tone deaf. I would prefer listening to fingernails on a chalkboard.

  • @TalentInTheRaw HAHAHAHAHA. Good luck

  • @TalentInTheRaw Well, you pretty much blow then. Also, if you have to tell people you are talented through your youtube username, you probably suck alot of ass anyway.

  • @TalentInTheRaw , If you don't get it, I doubt I'd be able to explain it to you, but you do have my sympathy

  • On a perfect summer day driving down the long country roads I can hear this song playing in my head even when its not on the radio. I can't help but smile and have feel that nothing can hold me back from doing what I want to do and I just drive

  • Every time i hear this i get a stupid smile on my face.....i cant help it....amazing!

  • Happy Birthday Bruce!!!

    Rest in peace Clarence!!!

  • Happy Happy Day!!

  • Happy birthday, Boss.

  • This is one of the greatest songs ever, and who doesnt like this should be banned from listening to music ever :)

  • @emremokoko yup

  • @emremokoko You can't say that, everyone has their own tastes. I personally love this song to death, but there are plenty of people who don't like it because it isn't their kind of music. I agree that more people should listen to Bruce, but you have to give people the right to their own opinion.

  • @squirrelboy2712 dude, im sure he was kidding

  • @emremokoko Some prefer Gaga and Bieber. We should pity and weep for them.

  • 2:53 = badassness

  • Danny and Clarence -- well represented in this song. RIP to both.

  • Thunder Road was the first song I heard at my first concert.

  • 78 people are the town losers

  • Music now-a-days suck! Id rather listen to Madonna,mj,elvis, bruce Springsteen, led Zeppelin! Amazing artist....adele and gaga are the only great artist of the decade!

  • If you enjoy this song as much as i do, come have a listen to my acoustic version of the hammersmith version:

    /watch?v=i5_N4YuWBXQ&feature=channel_video_title

  • Turn it off! Because your not worthy. No one of us are. :)

  • Wow... drivin at midnight with this song at full blast. Windows down driving 20 over because you honestly don't care . Too caught up in the high, the nostalgia of Bruce Springsteen. Nothing compares to it. Absolutely astounding

  • @jackfn1234 Agree...

  • @jackfn1234 i know that feeling all too well.

  • I saw hime in 1976, was my 3rd show and have followed ever since

  • Is this really from the Chattanooga show in '76? I was there on the front row and Bruce had a scruffy beard and wore a "soul hat" when doing this song. I was never the same after seeing this show at age 15.

  • There was and still is magic in the night. Miss you big man and Danny.

  • Check the outtake for this song ^^

  • Best song ever performed :)

  • one of the best song i've ever heard... it makes me feel FREE

  • Oh My God! I've never seen this video before. INCREDIBLE! The spirit of the music overcame the poor video quality and soared!

Thanks, terlip! I never would seen this wonderful performance if you hadn't posted it.

  • Sorry Boss, sorry Big Man, sorry Max and all the other E-Streeters....I just HAD to click "Dislike" for this video....the low quality video and even poorer quality audio totally ruined the greatest song The Boss ever wrote which happens to be my personal favorite as it mirrors my own coming of age in a small town. my favorite line: "There were ghosts in the eyes of all the boys you sent away; they haunt this dusty beach road in the skeleton frames of burned-out Chevrolets......

  • Syracuse War Memorial 1979 - Darkness tour. When music took on a different meaning to me and the first of many times I was a witness.

  • Just like Grinnell College September 1975! Darby Gym. Thank the gods!

  • it's a town full of losers, I'm pulling outta here to win! - one of the best lines in music history. I may not have understood them when I was young, singing along, but I can appreciate it today. thanks for speaking to the true blue working people, bruce.

  • As an American writer he is the equal of Kerouac, Ginsberg, Kesey, Chuck Berry or Dylan....As an American rock star he is the greatest since Elvis.

  • @GlenQuagmireful

Springsteen is a much better writer than any of those half-talents. As Truman Capote said of Kerouac, "That isn't writing. It's typing." Springsteen's first album, unfortunately, was heavily influenced lyrically by Bob Dylan--and it suffers from the same pseudo-profundity. After that Springsteen, thankfully, found his own genuine voice.

Dylan could never have written the poetic opening line to "Thunder Road" and meant it. He was far too cynical about women.

  • @KittysBlackTooth You are joking right?

  • @GlenQuagmireful

Absolutely serious. You compare Springsteen to writers who could barely string a couple of coherent thoughts together. Alan Ginsberg and Kerouac? Verbal diarrhea. No discipline. Bob Dylan suffered from it too--though the media loved him--and so did the wacked out 60s generation. Those guys were sold to you by Madison Ave. as rebels and geniuses, and they were nothing but frauds.

Springsteen is genuine American artist--your comparison to those others is way off base.

  • @KittysBlackTooth i love this comment so much

  • 75 dislikes?????????????????

  • @zeitgeistyreport Yeah...or, in other words, 75 people with bad taste.

  • This song makes me feel alive

  • take a chance

  • What a sad, sad day. You will be missed Big Man.

  • I remember seeing Bruce at McCarter Theater in Princeton in 72 or 73... Homeboy in a small place rippin it up. Beautiful.

  • Hey ,don't come into the Boss's house and try to sell us Lady Bla bla,you only embarress yourself, get laughed at and aint anyone here thats buying.

  • YEAH Silvio from sopranos rocking the background vocals

  • we can argue all we want about Gaga and the state of music these days, what's good and what isn't, growing old and relating to the younger generations, but this song... this song makes me feel alive. That's all that really matters

  • This was filmed 35 years ago, and this performer continues to give and give to us. He pulled into his orbit gigantic talents who hitched their stars to his. One of them, the iconic horn player, the big man, whose soul towered over his generation, we have just lost. If anyone thinks Miami Steve, Max Weinberg, Clarence Cleamons, Patty Scalifa and Gary Tallent could not have made it on their own, does not understand how much gravity the Boss exerts. He is like the Sun King of our rockn age.

  • @lebarosky Let's be more concise: he rocks!

  • @Gatsby999888 Ya well I am kinda stuck here in front of the computer with my vocabulary and not much else so ...

  • @Gatsby999888 Ya well I am kinda stuck here in front of the computer with my vocabulary and not much else so ...

  • I first saw the big man in 1973 I love you C this train

  • now THAT'S what it's all about. Thanks man....

  • All I can say is after Clarence died, my pre-teen daughter didn't get why I was so sad so I played Gaga's "Edge of Glory" for her and she had to admit how much she liked the sax solo. THEN I youtube'd "Jungleland"...she loved it and I can guarantee she would have NEVER appreciated the Big Man if Gaga hadn't helped make him "cool" in her eyes. Hey...whatever works!!

  • what....has the big man passed

  • Damn, are we really this old (dob 1958) ? The big man and Thunder Road were one! Cyrstal Shot into the soul of our being. In 75 this cut became a lead in to all the beauties of the night! The Avenue reaped magic in the night. All these years later, the spirit still rings! RIP Clarence,

  • I have see Bruce and the East street band dozens of times, wont be the same without Clarence:(

  • I saw a variation of this tour in Toronto. The love of the music, the fans and the Big Man will never be forgotten. RIP Big Man your touch will never meet me.. Lets think about the Boss for a day or two as well, his heart must be shattered.

I hope there's a Heaven cause the must have one hell of a band!!!

  • Rest in peace Clarence

  • R.I.P Clarence Clemons, the boss wouldn't be as good without you

  • r.i.p big man...that giants stadium concert will always go down as legendary for me and im glad i got to be there

  • r.i.p big man

  • RIP Clarence Clemons!

    you're will always our saxo-man :)

  • So much man-love between those 2!. Rest In Peace Big Man

  • Big man! Thank you! Remember you, miss you!

  • You will be sorely missed Big Man.

  • RIP Clarence Clemons. Truly one of the biggest men we ever saw.

  • Santa's gonna bring you lots of new saxophones now Big Man! Thank you. Everyone loved you.

  • Senneca college auditorium, Toronto, Ont. Christmas 1976 I was with the prettiest girl in Toronto; my girlfriend Donna. Along with Paul and Kathy ,we all caught candy canes that Bruce (dressed as Santa) threw out to everyone in the audience. Paul , Kathy and Donna probably still have theirs. I, like an idiot, ate mine there and then. But the memory of my friends, Donna and that amazing concert will last forever. I know we'll all miss the big man. rip

  • Pheesh! RIP big man

  • Looks like Phish just played a tribute to Big Man by covering Thunder Road at their show in Portsmouth, VA tonight. Long live the Boss and the E Street Band!

  • Sad day for all fans , the loss off the "Big Man"leaves a whole that the band can never fill...thanks C,C, R.I.P. T he world has lost a colossus of music and the greatest sax player I ve ever heard , sleep well you deserve it,your solos will be your legacy for us.

    Thanks.

  • R.I.P CC

  • Who cares if this is Lady Gaga's favorite song? I could care less. The loss of the Big Man will dwarf anything that she will ever do musically. It is good to see the Big Man rocking out. He hasn't been gone a day yet and I can't imagine the E Street Band without him. I only hope Bruce doesn't retire from performing. The loss of the Phantom was earth shattering the loss of the Big Man seems to be a crack in the universe. What a tasty lead on this classic performance. RIP CC.

  • What the hell is WRONG with you people? CLARENCE has DIED. Could you at least have the decency and respect to keep on target and honor the memory of a great, great, LEGENDARY performer? Do you have no manners, no clue?

  • @SLFinSF

Your so right. It´s really a DISAPPOINTMENT that people cant focus. CC is dead & some of you people cant get a grip. Shame on you.

  • RIP Clarence

  • i'm actually here because of gaga :) and also clarence <3

  • @koonealbert GAGA SUCKS ASS! I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THE HELL SHE STAYS. SHE SHOULD RUN AWAY WITH JUSTIN BEIBER AND GET MARRIED CAUSE THEY BOTH HAVE NO TALENT. GAGA IS A WANNABE WHO CAN'T DANCE EVEN IF HER LIFE DEPENDED ON IT.

  • Great sax solo. He was a big guy. I like the way he does a jump at 4:49 :)

Where is this video from? Is a good audio/picture version of it available?

  • RIP Bigman

HE is the one of musicians that made my teenage life precious.

Although I was grown up ,His sound will exist deep inside my heart.

  • 1976 I was 16. Clarence RIP my man. You will be forever in our hearts, our soul and our lives forever. Rock that band in heaven now and we will meet again one day. Thanks for the memories.

  • @Richardpahern I was 15 and feel the same way. The world will not be the same without the E street band and all of it's original members. RIP big man.

  • this song, especially this version is playing in heaven right now. Clarence thanks for the magic and memories!! your music will live on for eternity

  • R.I.P Big Man. I was lucky enough to see you and The Boss perform this song at Maple Leaf Gardens, Toronto in 1980; nothing has really topped it since. Your music and generous spirit will continue to be felt for generations to come.

  • A great time to live thanks for the music. R.I.P

  • Wow, what the hell is wrong with some people? You don't have to be "grateful" that Gaga brought upon more modern popularity with Springsteen, but shit, it's not "ruining the purity" of the song. Who are you? Hitler? That, and half of you can't accept change. Can't you even at least respect Gaga for giving so much praise and adoration for Springsteen? That's like an artist telling their fans to fuck off. Only bastards do that.

  • my mom met Springsteen at a party in the late 60s, he was friends with the guy she was dating. The story is that he was a total jerk at the party BUT I have a friend who met him down the shore about 15 yrs ago & said he was a real nice down to earth guy, age changes us sometimes. Either way this is my favorite Bruce song, really gets the feel of people from NJ, great stuff. Signed, a Jersey Girl ;)

  • Had to listen. RIP Clarence. Did any of us ever truly look that young?

  • RIP Clarence...

  • Saw em at Richfield,Ohio. The big man dressed in white stole the show. Went out the next day and bought their album. Thanks for everything, Clarence. RIP

  • RIP Mr. Clemons

  • Listening for the Big Man. Crying like a baby.

I remember seeing them in concert a few years ago, clarence shook his finger at me and laughed, i was 14 and in the second row of the pit. A captivating and beautiful man, with amazing talent.

  • Had to listen for the Big Man... RIP... Just fired up Jungleland & 10th Ave... The day the music died.,

  • R.I.P. Big Man!!

  • go back very soon Mr C...

  • every time...

  • Big Man, praying hard for you.

  • im prayin for you big man

  • God Speed Big Man.....

  • get well soon Big Man. i'm praying for you

  • who's the ''boss''????

  • the boss will rise again

(you see i replaced the south with the boss)

  • I've read a couple comments. I've listened to the performance. I really appreciate the tune. I'm going to purchase and enjoy the song, regardless of any degrading and insulting comments to the youth of today. I don't think I'm polluting anything. I can appreciate Bruce Springteen. I can appreciate Lady Gaga. Some may not like one option. Who cares. Enjoy each song as its own single being, not through ignorance or fear.

  • Why has this country degenerated to people hating on each other if they happen to disagree about something? so fucking what if someone says something you disagree with, aren't we all entitled to our opinions? Get over yourselves if you can't let someone disagree with your opinion. This country's going to hell fast if we let petty arguments distract us from things that truly matter.

  • love this song the boss rules eh thumbs up if u agree

  • what would justin bieber say? hahaha

  • Seriously music was sooo much better back then than it is now :( wish I was born in the 70's xx

  • For all the fake Boss fans, do you all now hate Clarence Clemons for playing on Gaga's album?

  • upward progress in every profession is driven by a combination of forces: seasoned veterans and new energy in the field. regardless of fan base response, Gaga and Springsteen are both clearly devoted to the art of music. and why should old fans "own" a star? begrudge young fans music discovered through other artists? A new fan base means more money and recognition for the artists, which can translate into more artistic freedom.

  • @dbarrere001 shut the fuck up or use simple language... we have't studied in oxford or somethin...

  • Why did this turn into a fight between Bruce and Gaga fans? Are you old Bruce fans really mad that Gaga's turning a deaf generation of kids away from no talent performers like Ke$ha or Usher? She's opening the door to the great music that this generation missed out on. Is it so bad that she's bringing back music from the soul.. classic songs that no doubt will live on forever? ..

Doesn't seem so bad to me, thanks Gaga.

  • @crazyxdude714 You think that Gaga will have classic songs that will live on forever? If she keeps getting crazier and crazier, she'll just be a Madonna re-run that burned her career out way to fast. She's not bringing music back from the soul, she's just targeting the kids who are the outcasts to make money. She used to dress "normal" and act "normal". She got a record deal, started being weird and therefore started to make money, she wasn't born that way, she's just being a money whore.

  • @crazyxdude714 Gaga is a retard who needs help for her mental issues. Ke$ha and Usher have better talent that Gaga. You must be retarded and need help for your mental issues too. How the hell you gonna say Usher has no fucking talent when he can dance like a beast and Gaga can't dance even if her life depended on it. Fuck you.

  • @YoungMoneyFR Who the hell are you to tell someone they need help for mental issues when your own NAME is "CRAZY"???? So fuck YOU!!!

  • @YoungMoneyFR You're the one with mental issues if you get this angry over performers. How can you say Ke$ha and Usher have "better" talent than Gaga? Ke$ha's songs are about getting wasted and Usher's about having sex. That just shows the lack of creativity and talent they have for music. They aren't artists. And if you want someone who can dance well, go watch a dancer perform. These are musicians we're talking about, not dancers.

  • @crazyxdude714 I don't even listen to Usher, or am a fan of him really, but if you think he has "no talent," well then your just being ignorant.

  • @crazyxdude714 i see no difference between Gaga and the rest of the pop drivel out there, dipshit.

  • @Ising4u93 Then you clearly don't know much about her.

  • It's weird that all the Gaga haters, who claim to be The Boss' fans, depise that he gets an introduction to newbies from his fan and friend, Lady Gaga. They are soooo *pure* that they rather that he not grow in popularity if Gaga is his messenger. They are fake Spingsteen fans.

  • @talkman288 This is the stupidest thing I have ever read in my life. He doesn't need more popularity. He sure as hell doesn't need a freaking messenger. I discovered Bruce because I have a good taste in music and because I don't feel the need to follow the crowds and do as others are doing like you and your little Monster friends. Don't call me a fake Bruce fan, ever. I live and die by his music, I know all his songs, have all his albums. Idiots like you need not procreate.

  • @brooce100 Doesn't need more popularity? Soooo, the young people who Gaga sent here should have done w/o The Boss? Fake, Boss fan, fake, fake, fake.

  • @talkman288 See, I don't care what music you listen to. I don't need to feel safe knowing that everyone and their mother loves Bruce. I don't need to know that Gaga fans like Bruce, I just don't care. I like Bruce, his music and his art and that's all that matters to me. I just don't see how I am fake. Enlighten me, if you would.

  • @brooce100 You don't need new fans for Bruce. Bruce doesn't need more money from sales, but the kids who might only like Gaga's electronic dance music, they need Bruce. Thanks to Gaga's father who *made* her learn the piano to Thunder Road in order to get her piano, those kids now are getting their horizons broadened. A real fan wants to share the wealth, not keep it to themselves. Maybe that is what you really want after all, and that wouldn't make you fake.

  • @talkman288 Wrong. What more do I need to say? I don't know what's higher, your GPA or your IQ (This is taking for granted that you graduated high school which probably isn't the case). Real fans don't give a shit what the youth of America thinks. I'm 19. People my age like Gaga. Real fans make sure stupid shit heads like yourself who can't appreciate great music stay away from HIS videos and stick to Gaga videos, which i will never rudely post on like you idiots have done here, asshole.

  • @brooce100 Wow, who knew The Boss' philosophy was just like yours, nihilisic bully-ism, wow. Just for that, I won't go to your raves.
