Is it me, or am I the only person who cracks the hell up when Zack says "Shutup! SHUTUP, I'M WARNING YOU!" in the middle of Genesis's reciting? That crap was soooooo funny.
I kind of wish they'd go more into the symbolism with Genesis having the left black wing and Sephiroth having the right black wing. What's that all about?

@meia002 Somewhat like sephiroth, he found out that he was indeed breed as a failed experiment, as part of project g, so he believes that he is a monster, and he starts to degrade, so he goes searhing for the gift of the goddess which he believes will stop his degrading, and throughout the game, he has different interpretations of the gift.
so thats what made him somewhat crazy, but in all honesty, he didnt go as crazy as sephiroth did with trying to become a god and rule over the planet
@xSOCxGenesis it kinda makes me think what hojo wrote in those books that sephiroth found, i mean how badly mis-lead can one dude be? hes not even close to knowing who his REAL mother is and what Jenova actually is (although genesis summed it up for him).

I love this game. Seeing how Zack actually was rather than the way Cloud tells it in FFVII and I love that we see Sephiroth as a normal person before he goes over the edge. :) And Genesis = Gackt = yum ;)

Jokes aside, I like the darker tone that this game carries at times; The audience is older now (most of us recall playing FFVII in the heyday of the PS1) and so the more mature themes work well.
For a game that wasn't written for western players, it carried over quite well.

An interesting note about Gillian is that she shares many similarities with Lucrecia, they are both women who gave birth to so called successful monsters (Angeal and Sephiroth) fathered by scientists who were only using them for their wombs and did NOT love them (Hollander and Hojo) plus they both tryed to kill themselves due to the shame of their involvement in the Jenova project. But while Lucrecia failed because of her Jenova cells Gillian some how managed suicide despite her Jenova cells.
@X23Ninja Could it posibly be something as simple as Genesis had orders from Hollander not to kill her? That doesn't sound right I know, but it is posible that maybe Hollander had other plans for her, since as you stated she is a lot like Lucrecia, maybe he thought that she was the key to making a sucssesful creation, thus she would kill herself before he could use her. It would explain the can't vs the wont, if Hollander said something about that and Gillain heard she would assume he couldn't

I think what Gillian means though is that she is so emotionally destroyed by what she has done/Angeal that physical pain no longer means anything to her, or that she will not give him time to hurt her. Also, if you watch the direct translation from Japanese, it makes a bit more sense.

@X23Ninja I don't really know too much (haven't played the game and this is my first time watching these), but I think it's because Genesis killed his own parents and since he's trying to turn Angeal over to the "other side", that meant that Angeal would be the one to kill his mother and not Genesis. His mother knew that (somehow), and so she wasn't afraid of Genesis.
@X23Ninja Not 100% sure but it might have something to do with the fact that she is more or less his real mother. He has always felt more connected to her then his own parents, thus the 'My parents betrayed me' line he gives. He is taking out all those that lied to him, Gillian sounds like she was kind to Genesis so he wouldn't ever harm her.
I can see where your coming from but Gillian says Genesis cannot harm me not Genesis will not harm me which is a huge difference. Why would she say cannot instead of will not? Does Gillian think the Jenova cells she was injected with means that she cant be harmed?

The only thing I see wrong with the cells theory is the fact that if she thought the cells would protect her from Genesis then wouldn't you assume it would have ended like Lucrecia and she wouldn't have been able to pull it off? Also if she thought they would protect her from him, why would she even try to kill herself?

Oh man...the scene where zack confronts angeal about his mother is just so dramatic and emotional. One of my favourite scenes out of the whole game. Felt exactly the same as zack did here wanting to scream Angeal wtf did u do man!!!!
@xBonesIVx Zack and Cloud are best friends, and both work for Shinra. Sephiroth works for Shinra too and befriended Zack (more like Zack stuck to him like glue). Sephiroth hasn't found out that he was created and he's not human, so he's not out to destroy the world yet. Thus he's a good guy from a certain point of view.
I like how Square took the old Buster Sword and made it something special...back in '97 it was just Cloud's starter weapon. But as the series and cannon grew it's become symbolic.

@oogyboogyooy Sometimes you don't actually have to look at the logic of it to make it make sense. Like them flying with one wing. One-Winged Angels are symbols of Satin, so I count that as mythical logic.
well there is magic in the final fantasy universe. and the wing comes from the jenova mutation. although im not sure if u can call it a mutation if it's cool.

I like how Square took the old Buster Sword and made it something special...back in '97 it was just Cloud's starter weapon. But as the series and cannon grew it's become symbolic.

Genesis and Sephiroth are in a sense related, and the Buster Sword was originally Angeal's passed through Zack, onto Cloud
