Thanks for this very, very interesting video. You certainly know a couple of things. Any chance you will consider publishing a Colt Python or Smith and Wesson Model 29 service video?
Could you please make a video and show me how to fix my S&W 44 mag? My button to release the cylinder will not work, the cylinder spins and all the other actions seem to be fine. How can I reset or repair my problem?
Thanks a bunch I just disassembled and reassembled my 29-5 (changed the cylinder stop spring). I had great trouble figuring out by myself how to remove the sideplate without scratching the surface... and there it was at 07:45, just tap the grip frame with screwdriver. Ingenious.
Hey, NAGANTMAN. I recently inherited a Smith and Wesson Model 10 revolver. It's stamped 10-5 in the crane, not sure exactly what that means but it is also marked 38 S&W SPECIAL CTG on the barrel. There is a very noticeable tinkering noise right in front of where the hammer lays and I am going to disassemble it. Are your screwdriver bits marked? It would help me if you said what size bit you used. Excellent video!
GOT YOUR MESSAGE. THE NOISE YOU ARE HEARING IS THE HAMMER BLOCK. IT IS SIMPLY A PIECE OF STEEL THAT LAYS BETWEEN THE HAMMER AND THE FRAME WHEN THE HAMMER IS IN THE FORWARD POSITION. NO NEED TO DISASSEMBLE THE REVOLVER, THE HAMMER BLOCK FREQUENTLY MAKES NOISE WHEN YOU SHAKE THE REVOLVER, IT IS NORMAL.
@THENAGANTMAN how do you get that the smith and wesson mod.10 is a direct decendent of the russian nagant revolver? im not infailable, but it aint like the russians pioneered double action revolvers [or any other gun design for that matter] and there were many revolvers in america that were contemperaries of the nagant that were much more advanced and refined.
Im restoring a very poorly taken care of one of these. Ive got everything working now except for the rod on the ejector rod. That rod is what pushes back the thumb release and lets the hammer move when the cylinder is locked into place. I cant figure out how to advance that rod forward to make it function properly. is there a special tool for that adjustment? any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Thank yo u for this imformative video. I bought a Victory model that was issued to the British. The barrel is cut down and the chambers were reamed to take a .38 Special. It cleaned up beutifully and it looks almost like a new pistol.
Dear Sir, Excellent video here . I wish I had a small percentage of your knowlege ! I am just a hobbiest collector of the S&W .38 . I wish I could find one of these jewels for 159.00. You have also sparked my interest in adding a Nagant revolver to my collection . I wish American revolvers still had this level of quality , sad to see what we have lost in durability, dependability, and accuracy ! I guess that is what we now call progress ! Thanks again and God Bless !
Brushy Mountain is a historic prison in Tennessee, now closed. James Earl Ray did most of his time there and escaped briefly in 1977. That revolver is a real piece of history. I have a 10-5 of my own and its an outstanding piece.

Thanks for the encouragement for the C & R License. It took almost 60 days. But I can see that it will be worth it.
