  • Thumbs up if you wish Thomas Paine was our first president!!!

  • why cant we be caught up in political bullshit and make some real changes....grassroots.....class struggle.

  • I admire Paine, don't need a murderer who Paine would have condemned to tell me about him

  • He is not a murderer if he was why would'nt the supreme court listen to his case it would be an easy one than.

  • Truly, Paine was a radical. If he were alive today he would be a leading voice against the abominable Obama/Pelosi/Reid power structure and its policies which are removing the last vestiges of freedom from our society.

  • @Anschutzhammerlitoz fool thats been happening long before....

  • Thomas paine... None of my teachers ever mentioned him... I wonder why... Dissent, one of the things the men in power hate to listen to... Power to the people... not to power driven men...

  • at the time people referred to paine as payne paine and various other spellings in their writings, especially here in england, where we are all numbskulls

  • he wasnt friggin liberal

he just rebeled against the wrong

  • You can't put a political label on Thomas Pain , sorry it just dont hold , he was for all the people .

  • Great video.

  • he set it all out in plain english for the benefit of the common man,the greatest of all englishmen, and my hero

  • To Snuffradio:

He was already convicted in a court of law by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. We do not live in Zimbabwe yet!!

  • Mumia is a murderer and a liar who has spent his life wearing the cloak of martyr, and of course the usual leftist haters of America swoon at his every word. Shame.

  • you're a typical american sheep. mumia was targeted since he was 15 years old, simply becuse he was a part of the black liberation movement/black panther party. i can only feel sorry for you.

  • I watched the video "Mumia: a Case of Reasonable Doubt", that the *defense* produced, and laughed. After over 26 years in prison, he still hasn't offered his story of what happened that night. One of Faulkner's bullets was removed from Mumia, and the defense's own expert admits the bullet that killed Faulkner came from Mumia's gun. 2 witnesses heard Mumia admit he shot Faulkner, and Mumia's own BROTHER (who was there) will not testify for him. 3 witnesses saw Mumia kill the cop.

  • Yes! Much like Assata Shakur and many other leaders of the Black Panther Movement who were accused of cop killing? Interesting pattern, wouldn't you say? Can you say COINTELPRO?

  • Yes, I can say "COINTELPRO"; can you say, "Guilty, guilty, guilty"? Like I said, I watched a documentary made by Mumis's *defense* *team* and *laughed*.

Fortunately, he has spent the past 26 years in prison and I'd say he's not going anywhere.

  • Unfortunately, you can watch a million documentaries, and you'll still have that mindset. And if he's found not-guilty, you'll still think he's guilty. It's too bad so many people harbor your mindset - and you know what mindset I'm talking about.

With that said, Mumia was targeted by the FBI since he was 15 years old, and all you have to do is google his COINTELPRO file.

Sadly, Assata Shakur, Fred Hampton, Huey Newton, and many more faced the same situations as Mumia.

  • Hmm...so what part about Paine here is false? Explain. Give me specifics. If you cannot there can only be two reasons:

    1. You have no idea what you're talking about.

    2. You are being misleading or lying.

  • Is this really the voice of Mumia Abu-Jamal?

  • Do you have proof?

  • While it is unlikely he'll be executed, at least he's spent 26 years behind bars, and I doubt he's going anywhere in the foreseeable future (i.e. this lifetime)

  • I don't expect anything else from you.

  • If you've researched COINTELPRO and FBI fFRAME-UPS, and STILL believe Mumia murdered the police officer, then I'd have to say there's no hope for you.

But it's funny how the vast majority of the Black Panther Leaders were accused of murder, when all they were doing was feeding breakfast to ghetto children, and providing other forms of community service. I urge you to free your mind.

  • Gee, the FBI targeted John Gotti for years; does that mean that he was innocent? Are did he deserve what he gotti?

The Black Panthers were thugs with a gift for public relations.

  • That is all I needed to hear from you. There really isn't any use going back and forth with an ignorant, and utterly conditiond racist as yourself. The worst part is, I'm sure you're not even aware of your deeply ingrained prejudice.

If community service, and seeking to empower young blacks to stay off of drugs and violence was a thuggish thing to do, then it's official that people like yourself will always see a black man as guilty, even if he's not. Peace.

  • Racist? Right back at you, mister!

I'm not aiming my remarks at you; but rather at anyone reading this with a brain.

Community service? Yes, and Al Capone set up soup kitchens during the Depression.

Just wondering: from what law school did you graduate? And what state bars have you passed?

  • It's sad that most racists are not aware of their racists - or simply don't want to acknowledge it. Mumia is automatically guilty simply because he's black. And so were the black panthers, as you see them.

But I dare you to give a brief description of how they were thugs. Comparing them with mobsters is intellectually dishonest at its best. But It's always worthless to attempt to reason with folks with such racist mindset.

  • Please, explain the thuggery...

We want power to determine the destiny of our black and oppressed communities.

We want full employment for our people.

We want an end to the robbery by the capitalists of our Black Community.

We want decent housing, fit for the shelter of human beings.

  • Con't...

We want decent education for our people that exposes the true nature of this decadent American society. We want education that teaches us our true history and our role in the present-day society.

We want an immediate end to police brutality and murder of black people, other people of color, all oppressed people inside the United States.

We want an immediate end to all wars of aggression.

  • We want freedom for all black and oppressed people now held in U. S. Federal, state, county, city and military prisons and jails.

We want trials by a jury of peers for all persons charged with so-called crimes under the laws of this country.

We want land, bread, housing, education, clothing, justice, peace and people's community control of modern technology.

  • I'd love for you to explain how:

    Free testing for sickle-cell anemia

    Anti-drug education

    Free breakfast clubs

    Anti-violence education

    ...would be considered thuggery.

A party that vehemently opposed segregation, and collaborated with other radical groups in America to form a coalition to uplift the oppressed, including gays, women, and other minorities is THUGGISH?

  • Thank you for posting this video! When reading Common Sense, it is easy to see how that pamphlet could ignite a revolution. It is filled with powerful words. After reading the first one, I wished I had read it in history class, rather then alone in a library from my own curiosity.

  • wow, i had no idea he was at odds with washington! obviously there is much more i, and many others, need to learn about this great man!

  • In place of the statue of liberty there should be a statue of Thomas Paine.

  • The Statue of Liberty IS, in affect, a statue of Thomas Paine. He did more to help the French Revolution than any other american founder. The Statue of Liberty was a "gift" to the United States after that revolution.

  • This is awesome, Mumia talking about Thomas Paine, just amazing.

    Both jailed but never forgotten.

  • I think some people on the left have problems with him because he believed in property as a right. I think that's the only reason.

  • Tom Paine was a true patriot. More people should read his books.

  • Mumia is a awesome speaker. Great voice.
