  • I completely agree to the lady tactfully questioning the use of illustrations. To me, too, they often seem to curtail and not to liberate imagination. She is right to posit a personal borderland in one's own pictures.

  • That was a weird intro..."Pullman is a great author, he's done this, that...oh, and he and other authors protested against police vetting them to work with children. Now, applaud!" Still, love Pullman & great talk.

  • Thank you so much to Mr Pullman for an amazing talk and to The Open University for sharing this clip. It was so insightful and although this is a talk by Mr Pullman, it was very much a conversation about literature, illustrations and interpretations. I wish I could have attended this lecture, but am grateful that I can view it in my county town home in rural Australia. Technology, wow.

  • I'm always reassured when I see something I'm interested in is not popular enough to attract even 1000 others. Shows I'm on the right track.
