  • Oh man these down under engines are amazing, gotta get one.

  • Sounds a bit like a lamborghini miura

  • The enginesound makes me think about japanese cars like Skyline R34´s :P

  • I've owned 3 Hemi's...2 265's and a 245...all stock, and they're an awesome motor....even the 245 used to fly when you put the boot into it.....one of the best motors ever made...I've owned fords, chev's,and holdens....all great cars, but the chryslers realy stand out among them all.

  • That sounds fucking awesome!

  • do it got a hemi?

  • soooo goood

  • I think your tacho is out....

  • @MegaPaladin1

LMAO...... And how far out do you think it is????? How about ya have a good listen before ya start flappin ya gums... hey?

  • im helping a family friend do up an old CM valiant and for some reason it has a R/T charger 265 in it:S:S...and im only 14 xD but i reckon all the nice looking 70's cars are the best xD A LOT better then a subaru or the japanese stuff... vals are made in australia FOR australia, thats what i was always told :D

  • It's a damn shame we don't have any of those in the U.S.... or at least a way of converting over a slant six to this configuration. I'd love to take all those V8+ guys and take them on with that 265 in my Dodge Aspen.

I know it would definitely give a 340 V8 a run for it's money, at least.

  • @JarrodES13 i had a 1972 770 Charger with factory power steering & air con "rare specs with these features from factory" strains the motor a little so had some loss of horse power there, was a fully worked 265 and used to thrash 350 Chevs 95% of them out there depending how worked they were & 360 V8's so yep 340 V8s are easy meat for these things if done right. Love the fact they just keep pulling with so much torque :)

  • I just have a soft spot for six cylinder MoPars because my Dodge Aspen has a 225 slant six in it. Unfortunately, many mock it for its lack of power. I wish I could convert my car over to the mighty 265 because the majority of Americans don't know about this. They would think "oh, just another six cylinder". With a worked over 265 with EFI, turbocharging, and nitrous oxide, I'd make them see my tail lights.

Do you know of any companies that produce or offer reman. engines?

  • First off I'm no slant 6 expert other than having a Volare years ago. But rather than going thru the expense of looking for an Aussie 265 to import, you might try building your slant if you want to do something different. It might be cheaper and easier to find parts when needed. I've seen (2) articles over the years of guys building 12 sec slant 6's in Dusters and the like. Try googling "slant 6 performance," you'll find links to what you're looking for.

  • It's all a matter of being different. I will build up the slant six for now, but in the long run I would love to have the Aussie 265 just for the sake of being different.

    The advice is appreciated though!

  • I want to make love to this engine.

  • hey im 17 and currently own a vh charger with a 265 hemi however it hasnt been started for over 7 years so i know its going to need a good clean out and referbishment my ddad collects jags and we also race but i want to know how you have set up your engine coz i also want mine as a daily drive but i want to have alot of fun in it... im going to get a 5 speed conversion and a $6000 dollar fuel injection kit with manifold but what modifications have you made to engine?

  • hey mate good luck with that, its cool to see some young bllod doing up an old car esp a val. hope you post it

  • The jump from 6-7000rpm was quick, whats with that?

  • i thought the same. was pretty cool

  • he put his foot down

  • Magnificent sounding 265!!! Geez they rev sweetly!!

  • hooooo hoooo hooooo that sound omg that is amazing

  • what diff ratio is in there?

  • 3.45

  • 13.06 @ 108.4mph last time out on street tyres

  • hemi and led zeppelin!

  • Nice, very nice.

Love that sound..... you had her over the quarter?? how is it asperated?

  • ..a while ago with a bit less power

13.25 on street tyres, and in full "street trim"

The car is a daily driver and not set up for the quarter..

  • Well that a respectable time I must say, bet you have a lot of fun driving to work!

  • hey man quick question....you ever had problems with your flywheel comming lose?

  • ..it can be a common problem because of the 265's harmonics...

I used ARP bolts with more torque and a lot of loctite!

And a heavy "balancer" of course.

  • I hope you understand why ARP has torque specs. If torqued properly the bolt will never.. and i mean never break. it has an ultimate yield point. if overstress failure will occur more soon, along with if it is not torqued enough. Just helping you out. You can call up ARP and ask them the proper torque spec with loctite. Its worth the call.

  • jrkoff, your all wrong, they still break, and for me its 6 runs down the strip before they give up. arp wont suggest a torque spec with loctite they think it doesnt work and warranty is void if using it

  • Yeah well i don't ignore metalurgists recomendations. I have never had fasteners fail when torqued properly, the thread holes must be precise for an even clamping load. I have built Extreme racing engines of all kind. I prefer sps bolts over arp, but bottom line is listen to the manufacturer. they know whats best. Loctite can leave deadspace in the thread preventing even clamping loads, even sps (carr) bolts have torque specs with ARP moly lube..

  • you obviously have had no experience with 6 cylinder engines

  • Thats a really decent rev from an engine that big!!! Looks like it would be pulling pretty bloody hard!!!!

  • sweet car man...my dad has a vh charger with i hot 265 speedway engine in her and they really are a wicked engine...fastest production 6cyl in australia...alot of holden fans dont like em jus because they didnt win bathurst but little do they know in newzearland the xy and toranas couldnt get near the chargers

  • damn rite doggy u know what your talking about e49 finest muscle car produced in that period. period.

  • yeah moffat described leo lennardS (nz driver)

one as the quickest charger in the world. He didnt know what happenned he was in a corner when all of a sudden this flash wnet past and the charger was 20' in front of him. The ford boys tried to pick a scrap at the pub that night saying the chrysler boys were cheaters. But it was

  • mmm..nothing like a Hemi, wether the six or bent eight version, they are truly hero motors....

  • Nice!!! What is the diff ratio in this car?

  • 3.45

  • how much power does the old girl have??

  • 351 (flywheel) with recent freshen up.

  • hmmm ... the last 265 Hemi I owned used to break things in the top of the motor when you reved it that hard ...

  • Spent a bit of time and money in the top to hopefuly avaiod any breakages... How was you rocker geometry?

..anyway it makes peak power @ 5800rpm so really doesent spend much time above 6300rpm.. I was just havin a litle fun...

  • Well my Rocker geometry was probably the problem ... but I sold my last Valiant, a VH Hemi Pacer in 1992, so it is a long time since I have played with these motors.

The broken rockers (and pushrods) occurred in my Charger Rally Car after hitting some slippery mud going up a hill. After we sorted out the broken bits, it still produced heaps of power on 5 cylinders though.

A guy where I work drives a 265 Charger and these things still look as good as they sound ...

  • so um.. what speed ya get up to in that little vid?

  • 175k (3gear)

  • yes, bm, there is such a thing as a hemi slant 6. the aussuie 215 245 and 265 are slant 6's not v-6's or regular straight 6's. and they are very very very hard to find in the states

  • the 245 strait hemi six was the only version built in the states as a truck motor and the 215 and 265 variant was austrailian specific , the 225 slant which stopped production here in 1970 were called that because they leaned where as the 215 245 265 strait six did not

  • damn man, i wish my 225 sounded like that!! any idea where you can get a 265 hemi slant 6? i want one for my cordoba a v8 is too common lol

  • no such thing as a 265 hemi slant 6. for aussie its either a 225 slant6 or 215, 245, 265 hemi 6.

  • Solid Cam, 246/256 @ 50'

    Isky race springs..

  • nice setup, sounds tuned good! what valve/spring/cam setup is in it?

  • what engine?

  • 1973 Chryler(Australia) Hemi 265 6pack (4.3ltr in-line 6 Cylinder)

..Triple webers (factory standard in this model)

  • Very VERY nice Car and Engine!! I likely to have some one of this here in Brazil, for fight 6 x 6 with gm250c.i.
