All Black people are the butt of jokes for Whites. Joke number one Blacks that celebrates fourth of July, America got its independence in 1776, slavery was not "abolished till 1865, but I see both Black Men and Women celebrating something that has notging to do with us. Sooo with that being written we can cleary see that both Black Men and Woman are indeed in the same boat. And both need to open up some history books.8
Pink elephant, the movie precious is just the start of more B.S. to come, black women want their shine and their chance in the spot light, well they u go, u will be getting the spot light more often than normal from now on. Good job bw, thank u for at least taking most of the media spot light of negativity off us black men, at least for once u all did something good for us. Thank u .
I agree fully with this video, a lot of us black men know the mentality of white people, we know about the exploitation of us black men in the media and movies etc etc, it is only bw that do not have a clue and that is sad, i say to ppl all the time, black ppl need to spend more time reading their history books than watching B.E.T and its said, alot of our black women do not know their history, nor do they wish to know so in essence, they will continue to be the butt of jokes for whites
I really don't see what the big deal about Precious was. At first, I was excited to see it, because I thought it would have touched me and just be as good as alot of people on the radio and tv said it was. I was really disappointed--they could have just shown that on the Lifetime channel. I'm dumbfounded that it was nominated for 6 Academy Awards. I'm still in shock. =/
Pinkk -- I did not (and will not) watch this movie, but judging from the trailers & from listening to all the buzz about the film, I think I may have an answer to your question as to why black women are not "championing" this story:
...My best guess bet is that it is because there was no identifiable "black male" in the movie whom they could demonize as being the source of their vicimization.
i agree. there was not pinata for the women to bash with a stick. Black women can only seem to understand their problems with a black man standing over them.
Who the hell thought to give Monique an Oscar for such a horrible film. I don't respect Monique (Not that I ever did before) for accepting an Oscar for a movie like this. I understand what went on in the film does happen, but come on another negative depiction of blacks! Its like every few years they have something old to repacked to be accepted as a great film...I will not watch anything dealing with Monique or that Sapphire chick. I call for a boycott on all sell out bitches! RNU4Life
You ain't lying about the precious types down here in the South LOL. I'm in Miami, FL (Mad people who are American have folks from other states in the South-remember Miami has many cultures) where you see these chicks in every other flea market, serving fast food/soul food or home doing hair for the low; hell, some of them are nick named Precious or Peaches with 3 or 4 kids by sorry ass men...We as a people must stop this ol' bullshit cause it has really gotten out of hand SMH...RNU4Life
lol pinkk you make me laugh ghetto bw LOVE PRECIOUS because it tells THEIR STORY but of course well to do bw wont endorse it becuase it shows the worst of bp the women AND the men.
I aim to see this movie and get it on dvd/blueray, because it looks too great from what I saw in the preview. Looks true enough to grab my attention. I hate when people pose on the internet as whomever to make things worse for this arguments we have between black people. Only humans make things worse for everyone.
These women live in a delusional world where they will do anything to be accepted (Halle in Monsters ball). They seem to be happy with anything. Why do you think they don't care about being seen as wh... just to be on film with a wm. Do they actually think a wm is going to put them above their women. I can't image what goes on behind the scenes in hollywood and the modeling industry with bw and these hollywood people. All to be seen as popular with others lol.
Pink lives in cali and its a totally different world. Down south many of these women do not take care of their bodys. I even remember taking time to count the percent of fat bw i saw in a day in comparison to all of them and it was probably half that were overweight (iam not talking about thick) These womens actions speak loud and clear.
if black females take one thing away from this movie it should be that there are black females within their so called sisterhood who do not mind playing up on black female stereotypes in order to get ahead in life. (ex. Monique, who recieved an Oscar)
I pretty much agree with Pinkk on this video. I think for many black females they more so have pity for a character like Precious rather than a relate to her struggle as a woman.
I don't usually comment, but this is one of that best videos I've ever heard. Thank you. Coming from a black female college student. I have plenty of female relatives that believe that white America will except them they won't and they look at me like I have a tail whenever I try and tell them the truth. I love your videos the keep me grounded! This is going into my favorites.
I think Pandora's Box has been open Pink. It's not just the movie Precious either. If you watch some of the modern television shows, they have the Mammy type of Black Women in the shows now for comedy relief.
Black Women have been champion the movie victim for so long, now Hollywood is just having a field day showing Mannys and Jezebels now. Instead of them showing Black Women being strong and independent, they're now strengthening the negative Black Women stereotypes. The joke is on them.
Good video as usual MR PINKK.. Seriously you usually always hit long range jumpers, but lately you been hitting 3's on your vids..
I will say this which is very interesting to me. A lot of BW I know in the hood or lower middle class didnt champion Precious that much, it was more the sucessful black women that championed it from what I saw.. A lot of my BW female friends who were struggling didnt co sign that movie. Only the ones who were doing great in life did ..
That's interesting. I think that a movie like precious highlights how well the successful BW are doing and how far they've come in comparison to someone like Precious. I think that's why they are more likely to co sign it.
(and most of the time rightfully so.)but I think the main problem in regards to the black community is that we r always waiting for the white man to give us equality to help us instead of helping ourselves. Thats what im trying to do black people need to challege the status quo not imitated it.
I think there's a couple of reasons 1 the actress is less appealing to the eye. 2. It shows black women as both the hero and the villian as oppose to tyler perry films just show bw as victims from one perspective and then goes to hero as "beating the bm" 3 black people (espicially women) complain about hw racial favortism in terms of black women and hw exaggeration and exploiting
I just saw the interview with Sapphire and Monique..she aditted that "Precious" character is based on 35 different girls she knew from her HS class smdh. It's the new Color Purple!!
