  • Anyone that knows anything about Poe's real life personality should be shaking their heads and groaning over this movie.

  • @silverarrow379 It's just a fun movie based on an Urban Legend. Although if it were to be accurate to legend Poe would die in this movie searching for the killer.

  • IT'S ABOUT EDGAR ALLAN POE!

ENOUGH SAID!! One of the greatest poets that has ever lived!

  • DO WANT!!!!!!!

  • This movie hasn't come out yet, but its pretty clear to see, that the killer is the detective -_____-

  • #1 LINE IN EVERY MOVIE -"Where is he/she?"

  • This movie makes no goddamn sense. But I'll end up seeing it anyway.

  • It kinda looks like Saw. With a little touch of poetry :D

But no, for real. I can't fucking wait for this!!

  • Might just be a period-set rehash of Se7en. Might be awesome, all I know is I'm going to be buying a ticket for this movie.. :)

  • yeah !!!!!!!

  • I have been wanting to see this since I hear about in in early 2010!

    Hurry Up!

Edgar Allen Poe = Amazing Poet!

  • Watch this be an elaborate story he conjured up in his subconscious in order to deal with his wife's death.

That would actually be pretty awesome...depressing, but awesome.

  • @DuchessAliana yeah somehow, I don't think the filmmakers are that clever.

  • does anyone know the music in the trailer?

  • i just got done reading this story and this looks amazing

  • I have a feeling we'll be seeing a Goldbug murder, with the person killed by having the gold beetle driven up their skull.

  • This looks like fun. Edgar Allan Poe gets to play detective to stop a copycat killer inspired by his stories? Can't wait to see this.:-)

  • "No matter how this ends, I will kill him." Well, if you do that, that's probably how it ends.

  • @27gotham I don't know why, but I'm betting my money to E.A.P death...

  • @TonyFbaby87 i know lol

  • Jack the Ripper?

  • I must stop watching this trailer because i still have to wait i love Edger Allen Poe's work have done ever since i was 11

  • I *love* Edgar Allan Poe's stories and poems, but I really think they should have used Jeffrey Combs for the role of said writer. He's perfect for the role, but I suppose they wanted a younger guy instead. Sadface.

  • Best writer of all time<3

  • Poe wasnt a genius for nothing!

  • Why don't people read up on Poe first before they start%2Proxy-Connection: keep-alive

    Cache-Control: max-age=0

ccusing this movie of copying other movies and Sherlock Holmes??? If you guys didn't know, All those movies got those scenes straight from Poe stories! Also Sherlock Holmes was a rip off from Poe's detective stories!

  • MOVIE.

Y U NO COME OUT SOONER?

  • So Edger Allen Poe is a badass now?

Where was that when he was poor and depressed in real life?

  • They had me at The Raven, but lost me at John Cussack....

  • @Rampage643 +1

  • The killer Is probably one of the good guys in the end.

  • I don't know about this movie though. To me it seems like Sherlock Holmes meets Sleepy Hollow rubbing elbows with Saw. Though if this movie features Hop Toad torching a bunch of douche bags as the Red Death flaunts the ballroom, it would definitely redeem itself in my eyes!

  • Thats not a raven! It's a crow!

  • 1:46 its BATMAN!!!

  • i guess i gotta find Pmike2345's comment.....

  • WOW thanks people for rateing the "top comment" on a REPLY to a guy that i had to search 36 pages to find a removed comment!

But really, how could you NOT know Edgar Poe? He is in CALIFORNIA state required reading for highschool, OREGON state required read fopr highschool, and WASHINGTON state reading for highschool. Saying you dont know who Poe is is like saying you dont know what TV stands for/

  • @KjT8090 maybe everyone doesn't live in the united states?

  • @KjT8090 Maybe in your Country. In the UK i never heard anything about him. In school AND College.

And i do know what a TV stand is for thanks.

  • @KjT8090 as valid as your comment is, not everyone lives in the United States AND there are more than 3 states in the United States, so saying that not knowing Edgar Allen Poe is like not knowing what TV stands for is just a tad bit too farfetched

  • John Cusack? As Edgar Allen Poe? Um... well... uh...

Fuck it, I'll go with it.

  • Comment removed

  • Brilliant ;)

  • Darn, I thought it would've been an adventure video game. butno. a MOVIE trailer. well then.

  • the detective's the killer, i decided...

  • Nevermore.....

  • This looks like a crossover of Sherlock Holmes and Saw...definitely going to see it!

  • I would have loved Edward Norton as Poe! But Cusack looks great in this too!!!!!!!

  • jOHNNY DEPP SHOUULD HAVE PLAYED HIM.......BUT IT LOOKS GOOD BUT STILL I DO NOT SEE POE AS AN ACTION HERO....

  • @lpadua11 I don't mean to be a grammar Nazi, but please keep capitals in the right place.

  • ONCE upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary,

Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore

While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,

As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.

“ ’Tis some visitor,” I muttered, “tapping at my chamber door

    Only this and nothing more.”

  • cant wait

  • F***kin Cusak. Cant believe they got him to play the role.

  • YES!!!! Finally they made a movie about one of the greatest poets and short story writers in history: EDGAR ALLEN FREAKIN' POE!!!!!

    'Bout freakin' time!!!! :D <3

  • how in fucks name is this g for general. Whinne the fucking Pooh is G, this should be PG or M. Seriously, dead fucking corpses, blood, murder. Rating system is fucking retarded.

  • @ChaozMaker140890 Trolling, but i've never read Edagar Allan Poe :S

  • the blonde girl is the killer!

  • Looks like it's going to be amazing. I just love the work of Poe!!!

  • Adam Jensen.

  • Bet you its his girl lol

  • I want to c that !

  • Castle episode 1 meets Saw

  • Yes. Yes. Yes. and from the guys who made V for Vendetta? Even more yes.

  • never more

  • I'm laughing at that @Pmike2345 guy.

    Damn... "not that famous"

Poe is the fucking founding father of romantic writing (AKA stories with flawed main characters not that chickflick BS) He's part of the curriculum at my school dude. Trust me, the most ghetto dumbass motherfuckers know who Edgar Allen Poe is if they made it past Sophomore year.

You probably just never made it to high-school to learn about the guy.

    Poe's a legend.

    You're just fucking stupid.

    P.S.

    Learn to write in English.

  • Do you really think it's in Machinima's best interests promoting a movie that's whole plot is that violent/dark imagery in art leads to imitation/psychological damage?

Just sayin' it casts a lot of shadows.

Also, if Poe turns out to be the killer in this film, I'll throw a watermelon at the producers' houses.

  • @KAPTAINmORGANnWo4eva ...they play videogames...they aren't running for president or anything.

Do you think they give a fuck?

  • @thehat222 Why wouldn't they? Hell, why wouldn't you?

  • @KAPTAINmORGANnWo4eva I wouldn't give a shit personally.

I think that we shouldn't care that they post it either...it doesn't effect us that they've "sold out" and I'd rather them post this kinda stuff than have a ton of ads before the video.

It is in their best interest because they probably made a good amount of money not to mention 55,000+ views on the video.

Not even going to mention that they advertise videogames darker and "violent-er" than this, GTA, Gears, horror games...

  • @KAPTAINmORGANnWo4eva In addition, I don't think that the movie is going to have too much to do with it.

After all its pretty well known that psycho's who do fucked up shit based around art and what not probably will do it anyway.

I doubt the theme of the movie is art and dark imagery causes people to go bat shit crazy.

The movie looks slightly more intelligent than that.

  • @thehat222 It's Hollywood. You know it can happen.

  • Who be this rapping - rapping on my chamber door tis be the wind nothing more ahhhh my god I love that poem

  • "And the lamp-light o'er him streaming throws his shadow on the floor;

And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor

    Shall be lifted--Nevermore!"

    --- The Raven

  • K Pmike2345 listen up.

Poe is by far the most genius and amazing writer in history. His contribution to the English language has been immense. He gave a new face to the genre of horror and mystery. His vocabulary is beyond your understanding because a famous writer as Poe was and still is even after his death clearly proves that he is famous. Now if you can't appreciate or don't even know what you are talking about, then don't even bother watching videos like this. Go watch porn or something c

  • Anyone else feel from the trailer that the guy helping him his going to be the killer?

It's just when he said "I know you would"

  • BALTIMORE!

  • I'm going to take a guess and say that the detective is the killer. From the looks of the trailer alone, it seems that way.

  • @heavenhellanda711 I don't think that they are so stupid to tell us the end in the trailer, but it's a good bet

  • That looks amazing! But the actor doesn't look that much like Edgar Allen Poe.

  • Cusack's head isn't big enough, but either way, could be an interesting watch.

  • The killer must have been some pre-hipster, considering Poe was never very famous in his own time.

  • WHERE IS SHE!!? (batman voice)

  • or its the best graphics for a video game or Machinima has to stop sell itself out !!

  • Interesting idea...hopefully this comes out well

  • if this was real Poe would be shitfaced throughout the whole movie

  • Why does their dialogue sound so modern?

  • @appleguy27 why would they talk like "shakespeare" in the older ages? I don't think it was so different, but in the books it's exaggerated

  • pause at 1:41. Its V

  • i thought this was a remake of The Raven, the one from the 90's (i'm probably wrong) but this actaully looks pretty cool. if you read some of Poe's crime stories then watch this film, it would make sense and be even cooler

  • @ThisTimeImperfectDF I recognized the most of the crimes in the trailer. I think that everybody who watch this film should read Poe for more enjoyment :D

  • the fact that they enlarged the V, and the fact the director is the one who did V for vendetta just made me think "that would be awesome if the killer was V!"

  • Why is a Raven like a writing desk?

  • @MrInsaneJeff Mad Hatter. Alice in Wonderland... the answer is simple... Edgar Allan Poe

  • @twsafarn

Edgar Allan Poe didn't write Alice in Wonderland. That was Lewis Carroll.

  • @ThatHauntFreak2 What? no, I didn't say that Edgar Allan Poe wrote it... I said that the commun point betwen the raver and the writing desk is Edgar. Is based in a question and answer that Mad Hatter do in Alice in Wonderland

  • @twsafarn

    Ohhhh okay. My bad :-)

  • I dont understand the top comment. Can someone please enlighten me on his joke

  • @xXBliiCKSTAHXx Which one?

  • probably the jack the ripper cases

  • Looks sweet!!

  • Poe as a badass instead of a whiny emo pussy?.... Ok, that's different

  • @geistknife Poe was not emo he may have been alittle dark and gothic for his time but he was a very talented writer who is even known and famous to this day in 2011 so before you make some dumb comment you should read some of his work first so you know what your talking about because Poe was a badass before this movie XD

  • @MsBAMBOO22 I don't know if "for his time" is right... in the Romantic period was not uncommun the darkness in the writes in fact that's a caracteristic. Bue yes, he was a very talented writer. He has a lot of troubles that brings in his opium and alcohol adiction so that's a good motive to be "romantic". But emo, no, he wasn't, even if he had depressed at the point of die by alcohol problems.

  • Looks awesome, can't wait. And Cusack will do a tremendous job portraying Poe.

  • wtf i thought this was about the raven from dark souls

  • Saw+ jack the ripper= this^^

  • @JoelVela13 + real literature

  • apropiate for all ages

  • it looks like SAW

  • this director has an obsession with the letter 'V'

    1:35

    2:10

  • @mikerichard123 lol i was just about to type that

  • @thekingof300 lol sorry XD

  • My English class is doing a Edgar Allan Poe section right now

  • That's so Raven.

  • wasnt that giant swinging blade on one of the saw movies?

  • @th3evilninja no its one of edgar's stories, you should read a couple of them they're really good

  • @thekingof300 what story?

  • @Pmike2345 the ignorance level... ITS OVER 9000!!!!

  • tap 8

  • meh...

  • That look good

  • DIS GON B BAWS!

  • Nevermore Mothafuckers!

  • Once upon a midnight dreary

While i pondered weak and weary

Over man a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore

As i nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping

As if someone gently rapping, rapping on my chamber door.

'Tis some visitor i muttered, only this and nothing more.

That's all I got off the top of my head.

I had to do a recitation of the first page of an Edgar Allen Poe poem in the sixth grade and this just stuck.

    Quoth the Raven, nevermore.

  • @TehCoD1KNifER15 Nevermore

  • It looks like an old style type of saw movie but i am looking forward to this movie!

  • First I thought that there was going to be a game called The Raven! :D

  • something interesting from Hollywood? that's weird.

  • thought this was a fuckin game lol

  • it lost me on john cusack

  • lol my gf's name is raven lol

  • Will they reference his opiate addiction? Only time will tell.

  • @Silvanis1 do it no balls.....

Looks promising. EAP was a badass.

  • *Spoiler Alert* - The inspector is the killer. You heard it here first.

  • @ACwatchingthetube I think it could be Poe, but if in the trailer he has an encounter with him is impossible... I'm thinking in the last book of Sherlock Holmes *SPOILER ALERT!! DON'T READ!!* where sherlock is the killer

  • best fucking poet in history

  • looks like another nicolas cage's film

  • I'm gonna take a guess and say your still in high school or middle school, because you make fun of kids for reading books. Let me give you a reality check. People in the real world actually respect others for being cultured and intelligent. Now that's not the case in high school, especially for burnouts like yourself. In the real world douchers like yourself are looked down upon, because you're more of a drain on our society than beneficial. So I suggest you drop the ego or gtfo.

  • how many videos does machinima upload daily????

  • OMG finally a movie that looks promising instead of the usual bullshit.

  • Cant wait to see this movie :)

And the incredible amount of stupidity concentrated in some of the comments is... well its making me want to kill myself more and more with every word i read... i REALLY don't want to live on this planet any more... :S

  • Release: 3/9/2011 wtf

  • damn that's really interesting can't waiiiiiit to see this movie!!!!!!!!

  • Jigsaw killer 1800's style

  • @xHLGxUniverse by u telling me to "just die" proves it actually. u obviously think that other people dying is not a serious thing by telling me that. u obviously have some mental problems kid. i don't know if ur were jus joking or not but if u were u shudn't joke around like that. u need 2 watch wat u say 2 people. ur probably jus some punk ass white boy nerd that has no life, never had any pussy, and loves 2 read books.......jus saying. watch wat u say 2 people u fuckin faggot

  • @Pmike2345 Of course death is serious. Maybe you should learn how to spell and type before throwing insults at me. One other thing, "loves 2 read books". Yes, I do. It's how you learn things.

  • the body chopper remind me the saw : /

    old days

  • @ArielleKosovic Jack the Ripper...

  • lol wtf this was submitted as a video response to the trailer for 2012

  • @xHLGxUniverse just die?? lol just becuz i don't know some random guy(who's obviously not that famous) who writes books about people getting killed in horrible ways.......hmm that's sound very healthy 2 read. why the hell would i want 2 read about stuff like that........there's nothing good about that kinda stuff. now i can c why he's not that famous. something has 2 be wrong with u mentally if want 2 read that kinda stuff. apparently, ur one of those people.

  • @Pmike2345 You know, the less-than-savory aspects of life (such as death and murder) have often been the most recognized and praised elements of story telling throughout history. Would you seek to censor art just because you find these things objectionable in real life? The only thing mentally unhealthy here is living in a delusional world where you don't have to process and deal with these things and labeling others mentally unhealthy for being emotionally mature enough to do so.

  • @Pmike2345 Edgar Allen Poe=not that famous??? I feel sorry for whichever school you went to. He was required reading when I grew up, and based on the way you speak you didn't and probably still don't read that much. To quote one of my favorite lines in any movie, "English motherfucker...do you speak it???"

  • @pariahdenar "What?! What ain't no country I ever heard of - they speak english in What?!" "....What?" "ENGLISH MOTHERFUCKER DO YOU SPEAK IT?!"

    SO funny.

  • @hereinsertname Say what again!... SAY WHAT AGAIN MOTHERFUCKER!

  • @pariahdenar i agree quote the raven

  • @Pmike2345 Round 2: Now I'm questioning if you're in elementary school. Because if you had the least bit of intelligence, and I mean the smallest bit you would know who Edgar Allen Poe was. I mean I guess I shouldn't expect it from someone with your intelligence level. But I'll try and explain. You're probably in elementary school because most learn about him in middle school or high school. Also how do you know what is healthy to read when you obviously don't read at all.

  • @Cwally8 so i'm stupid becuz i don't who someone is........yea that makes a lot of sense. ur stupid the one lol so just shut ur mouth cuz u don't know what ur talkin about. and ur rite i don't read but its not like i never read a book in my life before so i actually do know what's healthy 2 read and what isn't

  • @Pmike2345 Yes you are stupid because Edgar is actually a very famous author and anyone who remotely paid attention in school would know who he is. Also I don't usually criticize someones grammar but yours is absolutely horrible. Typing like that just strengthens my point. Just because you read Dr. Seuss doesn't mean you're an expert. So please don't type like you rolled your face all over your keyboard. Also please for all our sakes stop commenting on here.

  • @Cwally8 did it ever occur 2 u that maybe in the schools that i went 2 they didn't teach us about this edgar guy? i actually did pay attention in school and i'm pretty sure they didn't ever teach us about him in the schools that i went 2. ok so ur saying i'm stupid just becuz i didn't know this edgar guy was famous?? ur the stupid one if u believe that lol ur calling me stupid but obviously don't even know the meaning of the word. it would make me ignorant not stupid u dumbass lol

  • @Pmike2345 umm they didnt talk about the Romantic writers like Mary Shelly, Lord Byron, William Wordsworth, etc. I didnt get the best education but i know about them. I personally dont think your stupid, I feel that you have been denied equal information and that is unfortunate. I would be upset at the institutions of your schooling upbringing.

  • @Pmike2345 I'm impressed did you actually use the dictionary for once. Because if I recall you called yourself stupid. I just agreed with you. Anyway you are both, thank you for pointing that out. You are actually stupid and ignorant. Also if I'm correct dumb is the same as stupid and if stupid is different from ignorant. You misused dumbass because if I lacked the knowledge of the definition of stupid that would mean I'm ignorant, not stupid and stupid is the same as dumbass.

  • @Pmike2345

    Ahem.

    YOU'RE A PENIS.

  • @Pmike2345 what exactly did they teach you in school? if you get just a basic of English and Literature... even if you don't get information about Romantic years... you should heard about Poe... I mean, C'mon! even in The Simpsons they use it as a parody!!

  • @Pmike2345 "punk ass white boy nerd that has no life, never had any pussy, and loves 2 read books"

Definitely a 12 year old who likes to think tough guys getting pussy is some hot shit.

You would think someone who has a computer would know who Edgar Allan Poe is, especially if you have internet. There's no excuse kid.. you just-to plainly put it-fail.

and btw not everyone who reads is a guy. I wouldn't even talk to a man who didn't know who Edgar Allan Poe was so your wrong on that too..get out

  • @Pmike2345 ehhh...is our society becoming more idiotic as the years go by?? well, i guess it is, according to your comment there, "who's obviously not that famous"...one, almost everyone that reads, has read Edgar Allen Poe. Two, he must have be pretty famous if his books are being sold world wide after his death, which was around 1849. And thirdly, hmmm, a movie being made base on all your books and the main person in it is base on you...nope, not famous...*facepalm* idiots now days >.>

  • @ArckDesign I can reject the fact of "a movie"... I mean... hell, the fucking twilight movies... BUT FUCK THAT FUCKING KID DOESN'T KNOW E.A.P!? wtf is happening with the people today? I can't see his first comment but I think is good because I'll probably kill him after that. Nice Reply by the way
