Great example of fucking amazing american engineering! Dumb ass charging station, look how that thing waggles from side to side. Americans are: all mouth, no bollocks...
@seapeddler WHAT are you mumbling about? Spontanius ignite? Why? I guess you are talking about liquid batteries and gas from those beeing ignited? That has nothing to do with electric cars anymore.. :)
@taztaz79 Hey, wait a minute. I have degrees from 100's of prestigious universities. The air surrounding a battery charger becomes ionized with the zero-point flux. Unheard of in the news, but millions of people die each yr. from charging batteries. So, technically speaking, a 30 gal. gas tank is not hazardous. It is the people who own electric cars that should have 20 gal ABC fire extinguishers. I'm shocked at your ignorance on the topic ! : )
the internal combustion engine is quite versatile, and i suspect will be around for a very long time yet, when the first cars were invented there were`nt gas stations on every corner, it will run on a multitude of gases , with a bit of coaxing will even run on smoke, plant fuel, synthetic fuel can also be made from from coal, normal fuel will become expensive long before it runs out, technology and people will adapt. doomsayers are the naive ones.
Oh the other thing is they featured this car on TopGear and after running this car a bit hard the battery energy ran out of juice at the 50 mile mark. When they rolled out a second tesla that stupid car crapped out on them even sooner.
This is so stupid, what's to prevent a bunch of pranksters from coming by and yanking the power cord out from the outlet? Anybody believing electric cars are a viable solution at this time are individuals whom obviously don't drive a whole lot and exist in a pure fantasy green world.
I really hope I'm dead before gas runs out on this planet because i want to be be able to drive performance cars and hear loud v8's for the rest of my life. Not hassle through electric cars that only hum.
Things is....what if more than one car needs to charge at once. It takes even the biggest vehicle at a gas station maybe ten minutes to refuel from empty, probably less. Then the next car comes in, and so on. I'm only seeing one socket on this charging station. For this to work there's need to be multiple parking bays with charging stations.
Unfortunately the 'gas' is going to run out so we need alternatives. If there's a charging station at every other parking space, then what's the difference if your car's going to be parked at work all day?
This is too inconvenient for our busy lifestyles. We aren't going green if this is how I have to charge my car. I almost ordered a Volt, but now I'm going to just get a Hybrid :(
@dragonstorm83 if that is the case then look at the beginning of the video again... at 47 seconds what he has in his hands is what you will use to charge the Leaf and it will clip in in the same time it takes to put a gas nozzle in a car. The funny thing to me is at 19 seconds you can see there is a Tesla promotion on the parking ramp they offer electric charging in the ramp but the charge station they installed will not work with Tesla factory plugs.
@bigretardhalo Thank you for taking the time to care about my little old comment. It meant so much less to me than the time you have taken to respond to me twice. I am glad you care so much about...whatever you feel you are accomplishing in your response to my comment. Your passion is greatly respected, seriously. Have a great day, and know that sometimes it is better to just add your own comment to a video than to respond to someone else's ;)
@dragonstorm83 well misinformation is spread by uninformed people who read others opinions stated as fact ;) just trying to clarify facts nothing more.
how about next time, when theres a problem like that, you refilm it at a place that works. that way we don't have to sit and watch you explain that it "worked" at your house
@tplax4l69 Exactly, what a bunch of non-sense these electric cars are, 1 hour of charging for 5 miles? Shit, 5 minutes of fueling gives me 350 miles of driving. Not to mention, don't people realize that electric production still produces CO2 and other emissions? Hybrids are a farce too, all the money you save on gas you end up blowing on a new battery after a few years.
Your best bet is a normal car with a smaller engine, like a Honda Civic or something like that.
they need to make it so u can just swap out batteries, stop off at a station, plop the old one in the charger , and take the new one thats charged, since u are putting ur old one in the charger. another person will do the same thing. take the one u put in there, there will be 4 batteries that charge in 5 minutes that customers can use.... Or have a super fast charging system that charges a battery to full in 7 minutes so u can pay for how many miles u want. know what im saying?
@BankOFganja I do not like battery swapping batteries get worse over time so what do you do when you swap out the brand new battery in your brand new car for a ten year old one that craps out halfway home?
So you'll spend 5 min figuring out how to hook up the charger, another two min getting it hooked up, and working, and if it isn't rejected, you'll have to wait 40 hours to get 200 miles of electricity..
-or-
Stop in a gas station, put 400 miles of fuel in you car in about 8 min
@flynmid I agree on that to a point. He was showing a "flaw" in the Tesla from being first out the door. All "new" electrics and plug in hybrids announced that I have seen and are being released in the next year have the industry standard plug he showed that hangs on the charger. That should give you the the ability to hook up and see it is charging in under 30 seconds.
@flynmid It's a fact that 80% of the population travel less than 50km per day.. If you want to pull a boat i guess electric cars are not for you yet. Then you have to wait a while. For me (i have 2 cars) an electric car is just perfect. My trip forth and back to work is 60km. My GF travels 100km each day. We could both use this car a LOT. For long distance driving i can use the other car. I travel quite much (around 38000 miles/year) in my cars..
@flynmid For me an electric car will be more convenient than a gasoline car.. (Well i don't drive gasoline cars anymore, i drive CNG/CBG cars that is much more friendly to nature). I never need to stay at a petrol station anymore, when i come home i just plug in the car. I can even charge my car at work every day for FREE!. Then i don't have to charge it at home :) Fuel for free.. :) I can also have a pre heated car, without gasoline burners! :) Wonderful! :)
now i wont go as far as saying i enjoy putting in pump gas, but shit even a ratard can do it, it seems to be that you need to have a map of charge stations and plan ahead to own an electric car... seems very unfavorable. I'll stick to my petrol for now testla, thanks anyways.
These "ELECTRIC" so called cars are hassle. I mean They consumed more time and they cost a lot more. You buy a regular car with powered gasoline on it, you go to a gas station fill it up for about 5-10 minutes and you're done. Plus electric cars are much more expensive when it becomes to maintenance, you have to change the batteries every 5 years which will cost you thousands of dollars, and the car itself won't last very long as other gasoline powered vehicles.
New technology is always expensive at first. As time goes on and things are standardized within the industry, electric cars will become cheaper, charge more quickly, and last just as long as gas powered cars.
@youtoolgofckurself Just your opinion? Well, your moronic opinion is fucking ignorant! What are you going to do when fossil fuels run out? Please enlighten us you DUMBASS!
Fossil Fuels are natural resources! you dumb fuck! It's wouldn't run out! not in a million years. You fucking arrogant piece of shit! What will you do when the power goes down? Where are you going to charge that electric car? Up your ass?? Fucking stupid.
@youtoolgofckurself actually i kinda agree with you...i was always taught in school that Fossil Fuels will run out one day...but funnily enough my grandpa insisted those are all lies and just an excuse the oil people to hike up the price...he said the same thing you did..."fossil fuels are our natural resources..they're never gonna run out"
that's the best you got? I feel sorry for you. I'll give a little lesson, cause I'm pretty sure you didn't pass 6th grade science. Electricity is powered by stations, and they get that amount of electricity by burning fossil fuels, I'm talking about coal, oil and natural gas, not the FOSSILS you found on ancient species and dinosaurs. Since your user name is STUPIDSHOULDHURTBAD. I think that's the sign you should kill yourself. YOU'RE A CERTIFIED MORONIC DICKHEAD!

The danger with recharging an electric vehicle is that; unlike gasoline, the air could spontaneously ignite when the charger is plugged in.
So many people have been put in burn wards as a result of plugging in chargers.
No, having a 30 gal. gas tank is not like driving around in a barbeque.
