  • Gorgeous as always!!!

  • Who is the clarinettist on this recording?

  • Are you gossiping ?

  • And the winner is...

    Joyce Di Donato...

    Miss Photogenic

  • @SAMARA3365 This sounds nothing like Bartoli ... and is FAR more interesting that Garanca, who puts me to sleep.

  • @90lysander AMEN to Garanca being boring. She's just... *SNOOOOORE*

  • @operaticxingenue Glad someone agrees with me! Everything Garanca does is commendable, in its way - solidly sung, is the word I would use. But I can't ever remember a note of it.

I actually read one reviewer on Amazon put both she and diDonato in his category of "anonymous-sounding modern-day mezzos." Whaaaa? Joyce is many things, but anonymous certainly isn't one of them!

  • @90lysander That really is totally crazy. DiDonato inhabits her characters and sings with a fluidity and beauty of tone that's missing in a lot of singing right now. Garanca has a lovely instrument, but she's kind of like the Netrebko of mezzos.

  • @amarantaviera I think Garanca is a superior singer to Netrebko (although the latter has a more individual tone), but yes, very few of their performances stick in my minds.

  • pas terrible! ily a un souffle sur cetaines notes et ça manque de legato

  • @acanthe83 . Avec le son Youtube et ce MP3 hyper écrasé, il y a de toute façon de l'air sur tous les sons, comment juger quoi que ce soit?

  • Wow, I didn't know Johnny Depp was a classical music fan, let alone Didonato's. But then, he always seems to have good tastes in just about everything else, I guess it makes sense.

What's whetting my appetite even more is actually Anna Caterina Antonacci's Vitellia. I really hope this production is available on DVD.

  • Hmmm, it's possible that diDonato had gone somewhere to see Depp, rather than vice versa. But I'm really not sure as to the origin of the picture. Leo (you don't mind if I call you that, do you?) - do you have any more info about this?

  • no I don't mind, that's my name xD about the picture, I don't have information, sorry, I just took it from DessayBestSinger XDDDDD

  • @leoperarm hm...podrias llamarme por mi nombre! kidding ^^

  • That´s an original photo from

Montblanc's 100th Anniversary Celebration on April 5, 2006 in Geneva, Switzerland.

  • according to joyce's website, they met at an event joyce was singing at in paris.

  • oh nice! TY!

  • Can we have 'Deh per questo istante solo' too?

  • OK...no problem ;)

  • Thanks!

'Parto, parto' is one of my favourite arias but there are so many different versions already on Youtube.

'Deh per questo' is equally great but not so well represented.

  • there it is!

  • Leo, las arias de Vitellia por favor...y DiDonato como siempre impresionante :)

  • oki...jeje!

  • any way you could post Vitellia's arias pleaseeee?

  • She's really good!!!!! Elina Garanca, Joyce diDonato and Cecilia Bartoli are my favourite mezzos of today! Each of them is a great artist and personality!!

  • TOTALLY agreed!!!^^

  • wAw the aria is really difficult! and DiDonato really great!

I love the picture with Johnny Depp at the end!

  • me too!^^

    nice movie btw xDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

  • yeah, a little break xD
