the video of the lap goes from 1:44 to 2:51..which is obviously more than a minute. do you think topgear lied about the time then? or maybe there was just some overlap between the clips when they edited them together...but then again, seven seconds of overlap between clips is a lot..anyone else have any thoughts?
@ carGT222 I don't wanna discuss in the comments of a YouTube-Video, cause it's annoying with the remaining characters :p So, therefore, I looked out for a thread where is the same topic in discussion.
Search exactly „f1 car acceleration 0-200” on Google and click the first result link. You'll enter a thread about this topic on f1technical (.) net
Especially take a look at the posts from „xpensive”. The others are quite random.
apparently that wasn't the "real" stig driving, as renualt wanted someone they could fully trust drivin the car so they used heikki kovalainen as he was thier test driver at the time.
They need to do this more often. They should really start a new Power Lap Time Board just for F1 cars. Have on one car per series or something. I'd love to see if a 2010 Red Bull can beat 59 seconds.
what i find funny is that we actually see the lap being shown taking off at 1.45 and crossing the line at 2.52 so over a min.
admittedly i don't know how this was edited and i'll admit we may have seen certain footage twice from different angles so that jeremy could fit in all the commentary.
i simply thought i'd point out that there is more than a minute of footage.
and anyone who tries to tell me i'm wrong, i'm a mug, etc. didn't i just admit that i could be wrong. yeah, i know. kthbye
@A2ZviaBLT i think thats cool that youve noticed that but i think just different camera angles so jeremy can finish his commentary so thats funny how u noticed that
There's strong reason to believe the Stig may be Martin Brundle. He's still able to drive an F1 and more importantly, he works for the BBC.
Remember Tiff Needell drove a Williams FW28 and he was like a fish out of water since it's been so long and the gap in technology was too great. Brundle actually gets to see the F`1s every season.
@ABisopht The reason the tyres have those ruts in them is because the cars were deemed "too fast." So for a few seasons they used tyres like these that were not quite slick in an attempt to slow the cars down through the corners. I'd love it if Top Gear would do this again with the 2010 Red Bull RB6 (with straight up slicks).
Hammond was able to drive an F1 car (albeit not well) in a day. Stiggy is a professional race driver who has driver a hundred different high performance vehicles. Also, you can see that he has a few problems with the car, indicating to me that he is no expert when it comes to F1.
That sound of the engine bouncing off the rev limiter just before he sets off is one of the greatest sounds I've ever heard in my entire life. This might be my favorite video of all the vids on YouTube.

@carGT222 0-100 km/h is around 2.5 seconds and 0-200 is around 5 seconds. The breaking time is around like you said. Maybe 2.5-3.0 seconds.

Considering this is in the wet.. wow
Master1906 1 year ago
@gac18 actually more than 80% I think. this F1 lap and the FXX lap were the only ones documented not to be ben collins

6 seconds from 0 to 150 mph :)

@Albe983 It would take a Nascar about 9 seconds to do that. Proof that nothing can outrace F1.

i reckon this car can go around the circuit in 50secs when its dry

this car shouldn't be on the board, its not street legal, and those are the rules of the lap times

Doubt it. Watch Schumacher in the Ferrari FXX; He (and all the other F1 drivers on SIARPC) takes a different racing line than the Stig.
