  • It would be nice to see TOR as a built in feature. TOR has helped me watch Dr Who a few times due to living in the US where the UK doesn't allow it to air for some dumb unknown reason.

  • sounds great :)

  • Thank you Pino.

  • great Idea spread the word

  • @stonehartfloydfan Thank you!

  • Good idea :)

  • @Vogter616 Thank you. And similar messages should go to Microsoft (about IE), Google (Chrome) and Opera. Let's see who "bites" first.

  • agreed ;-)

  • @PingeMusic cheers

  • I wish non-mainstream Opera would do something like that.

  • @zillion167 Well, Opera is still nibbling away at that market share trying to become one of those mainstream browsers. Maybe they should think about being the first to implement this, so that Opera has a USP (or should that be a Unique Download-For-Free Point?) that sets it apart from other mainstream browsers ;-)

  • I'm fine sticking with IE. Never had any issues that would cause mt tos witch (any issues are from my own comp, not the programe).

  • @tyrongkojy I can't figure out what you just aid there, soz...

  • @rozeboosje Sorry. I don't have Fire, I have Internet Explorer, because I've never had any issues that would make me switch.

  • @tyrongkojy The same suggestion can be made to Microsoft re. Internet Explorer. Maybe Microsoft would consider clawing back some of that lost slice of the market by making IE the first *mainstream* browser that laughs in the face of internet censorship.

  • @rozeboosje True.

  • Good point, but the laws are just there to justify what they will do anyway, if the laws fail they will just bend or break the existing ones.

  • @TheTomtompiper The more obsolete the laws are shown to be the better ... Of course they'll just keep legislating but impotent legislation is fine by me.

  • @rozeboosje "impotent legislation is fine by me" It's the very best kind, and long may it continue.

  • why not just use the TOR Browser, instead? you do realize that Firefox has a giant bullseye painted on it for hackers, don't you?

  • @gotohellgooglization Of course, but you miss the point ... If TOR becomes part of a mainstream browser, then Hoi Polloi, the Great Unwashed, the ungeeky masses, those who are afraid of anything that even sounds *remotely* like it might be "technical" will simply automatically get the functionality when they next upgrade their browser. And then when you send them that .onion link you don't have to explain anything and scare them. They won't even know anything's different.

  • @rozeboosje it comes bundled with Aurora Firefox...so what is you point again?

  • @gotohellgooglization the point is that you don't get the mindset. You can explain until you're blue in the face that Aurora (which I do use) is based on FireFox, to them it's scary stuff that nerds have been messing with and they're too askayered to use. These are folk who took years to finally make the move from IE to FF and they're still traumatised.

  • @rozeboosje maybe i'll see if i can get it without the Aurora browser. it keeps asking to install flash several times to watch youtube videos and i've installed it and allowed it to run and it STILL asks me to instal flash.

...anyways, thanks for letting me know about TOR

  • @gotohellgooglization No worries. I think it's still fairly new technology wrt having it built into an actual browser. Early days, teething problems and all that ...

  • Typed that out on a tablet without checking. Meh, you get the point people.

  • @Koss42 :-) I'm sure they will

  • TOR isnt perfect, but it is a good start for living anon on the internet.

Alternatively people can download distros like Liberte, or Tails. Tor and other tools are already set up to ru. In a complete and easy to use package. Just throw it on a flashdrive and it will run completelyoff of it without need of any install.

People using TOR should justunderstand its limitations.

  • @Koss42 Of course - but even that ... if I said that to some of my acquaintances, I know their eyes would glaze over and they would think "that sounds WAY too difficult to them". These are people whose mainstream browser is still more likely to be IE than anything else.

  • @roadblocks The best option for people like that is to give them a cd with Tails already on I, for example. All they have to do is throw it in any computer, turn it on and then use Firefox from there.

They don't have to know how you downloaded it, or copied it to a disk/USB stick, or that it is a linux distro in order for it to function properly.
