of course its not a real sword made by Goro Nyudo Masamune himself, but it wasnt even meant to be a replica of his work. this sword is a modern mass produced replica of a sword supposedly used by Date Masamune, a famous samurai NOT the famous swordsmith.
@0asis99 That wasn't really the answer i was looking for. Obviously you don't have an answer, so please don't reply to anyone unless you have a good answer.
@solitajre222 Basically they were done in more ancient times to hide imperfections in the sword, now however they basically translate into a lighter more fun to swing sword :P.
ummm first of all a masamune is not a sword ....Goro Nyudo Masamune for wich this and many other things are named was a swordsmith .....probly the greatest sword smith in history sence he perfected the soshu style of blade lamination .....he made the best samurai swords in history .
and only a few asin less than 5 swords made by him exist in the world today. and they are all considered as japanese national treasures and are.... never.... for sale .
@NJKTesla Actually you're incorrect in your ASSuming. The sword is forged in the baseline of Date Masamune, who was born September 5th, 1567. He fought through the Battle of Sekigahara. The Samurai featured on the hilt of the tsuba of the sword is an image of Date Masamune. Rewatch the video again and look on the Tsuba (That is the handle guard if you don't know, and given above info I bet you don't!) You'll see the image. ^_~
@NJKTesla Also one more thing, yes you're correct in your statement of not to many of Masamune's swords are around today. However if you're ever near Independence Missouri, I suggest stopping into the Harry S. Truman Presidential Library and Museum. Lived her most my life, and I remember as a kid looking at it and going >_< GOD I WANT ONE! I have to settle for a 5k sword, but if the world goes to hell in a hand basket, I know where I am heading!
@LaithAmekir , I was commenting on the Origonal Masamune whom all things masamune are named after lived from 1264–1343 AD , and was a sword smith . Gorō Nyūdō Masamune , came first and made the swords that are refered to as Masamune's . He perfected the most complex form of blade lamination soshu kitae style of blade lamination .
Fake, not a Masamune Sword. Sorry a real Masamune would cost around $200,000.00 if you are lucky, since they are only available (sometimes) on antique auctions on Europe. The Habaki, the tsuba and blade are wrong. Doesnt even look like a Masamune. Just a wall hanger.
@male272 you can't always tell if a katana is poop or not just by looking. not even sword smiths today or in the past could you have to handle the blade before you can judge it.
wel if you jappanse i dont want to disapoint you but 1: i hate freaking skateboarding
2:i like japans history
3: and i really really like swords or better katana and btw its not like white people are bad or something you dont hear me saying go commit seppeku or something like that
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
i hate when white people wont to get into our history buying our katanas like thay made them just go back to skatebording and shit like that and stay out of ours!!!!!
Proof of spiritual closure, I'm pretty sure that there is japanese people owning Fencing rapiers or Brittanic style dull swords for the sake of decoration, you can't force anyone from stopping buying Katanas, some people don't give a raw shit about your culture and buy it because they think it's pretty. and you can't do anything about it, it's business, end of the line.
sorry man its not an american factory made its a chinese hand made authentic Katana. Authentic because of way its made, completly authentic would have to be made in Japan.
yeah alot of people say that they suck they are great starter sword i broke a 30 dollar masahiro going up against a 5 mat with bamboo core but i shouldnt have put it to far past its limmits
me to but i bought a used practical katana and it started to chip so i dulled it into a carbon iaito for kata it works and i have my favorite the tenchi

I bought one of these on ebay for $100. Makes a great shrub and branch trimmer. Not a wall hanger, but very practical.
