  • @ 0.10 cue the chain music.

  • I like the "F1" logo at the end. Shame Bernie or whoever decided to get rid of that.

  • ty m8

  • whats the song

  • The Chain by Fleetwood Mac

  • the chain

  • Is it true this was made in HD? and also the reason they used CG was because they had no HD action footage.

  • yes to the first one, but not really the reason behind CG, titles are very expensive and in todays climate of keeping cost down ideas have to be sometimes more generic, re-editing titles to keep up to-date can be expensive and time consuming. Also filming generic cars and locations is very expensive. The is also the argument that if your going to watch 2 hours of racing, why repeat yourself in the intro.A book does not give everything away on its cover.

  • everything is made in hd, even films that are years old, ever wondered how u get films from the 90's on bluray? the cameras could film in hd but couldnt be played at full spec

  • The films were filmed "on film" which represents big resolution, even though in an analogue way, but it can be scanned now in HD. Yes, HD kind of existed, but definately not all films were shot in HD. In fact, they exprimented with having a few shots in HD in Star Wars I in '99 as far as I know, but the rest of it was shot on film, like almost all films then. (The Godfather was scanned in HD, too, from film; they surely didn't have digital back then.) Of course, correct me if I'm wrong.

  • @BrandzF1 , except a lot of sport footage was shot on digi beta, thus not HD compatible

  • this is possibly the greatest F1 intro ever! i just love it!

  • well done viky, you make me proud

  • Love these titles - The best BBC ones ever!

  • would love some stills as desktop wallpaper!

  • Great work. If this doesn't win some awards, I'll eat my racing helmet.

  • @EmmaSel , it was up for a BAFTA, but didn't win

  • @EmmaSel Some Nandos Peri Peri should make it more palateable.

  • What a fantastic sequence! Why on earth did they remove this F1 logo?

  • mmmmmmm!!!!

  • Far superior to what has actually made it to the air - especially with the little extra bit of 'The Chain' at the start.

The removal of the F1 logo is down to Bernie methinks, and it appearing too similar (appearing amidst blocks of flying colours) to his new FOM logo preceding the start of races/sessions.

    Sad, really.

  • correct on all accounts

  • no really.... why did they remove it?

  • comment below ain't that far from the truth

  • The full version looks really good.

  • F1 logo never used, intial concept, to be honest may have to take down as F1 management can be very hardcore, so you may be the last person to see it

  • I also like the bolts of thunder at the start of the version showed before the Australian GP. Another difference I spotted is the audio at the ending. On the broadcast music "The Chain" can still be heard fading as Jake begins talking. On the highlights you could just hear the words 'Chain...keeps us together' sung before it fades completely.

  • Wow! Not seen this with the F1 logo before the BBC Sport logo or the first couple of seconds before the the bass line starts. Awesome
