  • I reached out. He was there.... sort of

  • this song is sad, when Paul Turner sing it its happy

  • Paul turner's cover is happier

  • You know whats cool? I was playing this in My car and my 10 year old son asked me who it was 2 years later its still one of his favorite songs!

  • Thank the Funk Brothers. If you don't know who they are, look them up on wikipedia.

  • "When you feel lost and about to give up (to give up)

Cause your life just ain't good enough (just ain't good enough)

And your feel the world has grown cold (has grown cold)

And your drifting out all on your own (drifting out on your own)

And you need a hand to hold, darlin

Reach out come on girl reach out for me

Reach out reach out for me

I'll be there to love and comfort you

And I'll be there to cherish and care for you"

  • THUMBS WAY UP if DMC medical center advertising on Detroit radio stations brought you here!

  • Finding this song is a pain in the ass when the only words you remember is "I'll be there"

  • Thank you.

Quiz. In She Loves You (Beatles), what's the line after "You know it's up to you/I think it's only fair. . . " (followed by "apologize to her").

  • 2:38: Just look over your shoulder

  • L-O-O-O-O-O-O-OVE the introduction. The flute. The minor key. The vocals.

    Love the whole damn song!

(What does he say at 2:38? Sounds like "this is going to be short".)

  • Oh my gosh. The Four Tops. Unbelievable sound. Fabulous showmanship. The best of the best. I saw them in Vegas with ALL the original members and they still had IT. I was up and dancing; I didn't care who was watching.

  • 4 times TOP :-) !

  • finally i found this song

  • Like if you're still listening to this in 2012.

  • fantastic song !!!

  • great song

  • I was just a twinkle in my mothers eyes...But even though..I love this kind of music more so than now adays!

  • Me loves it!

  • How did the majority of music coming from black people/groups sound like this awesome stuff in the 40's-70's... and just degraded into this Soulja Boy shit?

  • @Acension86 Black people don't just have one sound or one genre, this stuff is still popular to people with taste, "Pop rnb" and "Pop rap" are what is considered great by idiots.

  • @whitwhoo29 Yeah!

Even gay bathroom sex is more entertaining!

  • @Acension86 Same way the majority of music coming from white people/groups sounded great up to the tail end of the 80s and just degraded into Fall Out Boy. Bad taste is universal.

  • @Acension86 With the decay of capitalism comes the decay of its culture

  • @KingCrimson776 please explain what ya said pls dont think im stupid or nothing but i dont remember what capitalism is

  • @Militarymight101 It's the monetary system which has been hijacked by a few very rich sociopaths. This was inevitable, as capitalism breeds such cutthroat, egomaniacal mindsets.

The culture of a capitalist society is inherently based on progress like all other aspects of it, and when it has nowhere to go it degrades into postmodern malaise (basically Soulja Boy is a fine example). Long story short; I think society will be changing drastically very soon.

  • james jamerson like if you know who he is

  • Whoever disliked this song... I will fight you

  • Damn, this music is awesome, especially having to grow up with this new age garbage and getting laughed when I listen to this great music, saddening enough is the fact that kids of my generation know nothing of real music, but I am one of the standing few that appreciates this great masterpiece

  • I am only a Two month old Fetus! but when my mommy puts a speaker on her belly with this music, I want to Rock & Roll !! and I aint even BORN yet !!

  • Great group and song as were most of the Motown groups during the 60's. still remember living in Chicago during this time and walking down the street wearing my black Cabretta Leather Coat and Beatle Boots with the Cuban heels, great times.

  • @tonelatham I knew this song when I was 12, but I didn't know that phrase:0

  • @tonelatham Age does not matter. If you enjoy this music, then that's cool with me.

  • @tonelatham I love how vocal kids are these days now. I sure as hell wasn't so aggressive when I was 12.......

  • @tonelatham I always felt Alicia keys was a "real " talent she writes, plays and can hold her own in the

"appearence" category that is so important to the music industry today.

  • @tonelatham i feel you.

when people say "isn't this before your time?", i say "what about beethoven fans?"

  • @tonelatham thank god there is hope

  • @tonelatham Woa there, awesome emotion, but new wave is music none the less. Do you play an instument?

  • Nine people are gonna look over their shoulders, and nobody's gonna be there...

  • my dad used to listen to songs like this all while i was growing up [this was in the nineties, so even then it was considered "old"] but i hadn't heard this song for the longest time when a few months ago i was in a coffee shop. i catch the flute line and it was like "holy moley! THIS song!"

  • LOVE it!

  • I LOVE THIS FREAKING SONG

  • Ultimate youtube comment: I'm only 14 but i like good music; why can't everyone stop arguing and just appreciate this music; this music means so much to me because my mother/uncle/grandad/dog died and we always listened to motown together; this is the best version of this song and you will probably agree because you made the effort to listen to this song on youtube.

  • I'm 19 aswell, and this song is really helping me out right now :)

  • See the red dislike bar? Neither can I.

  • James Jamerson the greatest bass player ever

  • @tgo2g2000 Yes I am listening to this in 2011

No I'm not going to press any number on my keyboard

No I'm not going to thumbs up your comment

    No I don't care what's wrong with 781 people

No I don't care about you 'raping' a button

No I was not sent here by someone else

Music is there to be listened and appreciated, unfortunately there are people out there who just don't see that. The music industry is becoming more about marketing and less about musical quality.

  • @tgo2g2000

  • That's fresh!

  • im 2yrs old i shit myself and can barely walk ....,who cares how old u r dammit u immature teen

  • this is when people sang GREAT songs not the crap they listen to now

  • (see below) The mercury vapor lamps looked like stars; they have very similar beautiful blue light. This song reminds me of that among many other things.

  • This song reminds me of Denver in the late 1960s. I was there, but I was just a little toddler. I heard it again last November at an appointment here in Cheyenne and was struck by the greatness of this song as I saw a mercury vapor lamp in the evening...just like we used to have everywhere in Denver in 1968. I just barely remember 1968.

  • SOY UN ENAMORADO DE LA BUENA MUSICA, SIN ENCASILLARME DEMASIADO A EPOCAS EN ESPECIAL. PARA MI GUSTO ESTE ES UNO DE LOS BUENOS TEMAS DE MI EPOCA JUVENIL. PIENSO QUE LA MUSICA SIEMPRE ROMPERA BARRERAS GENERACIONALES, EN ESPECIAL ESTE TEMA "REACH OUT I·LL BE THERE" THE FOUR TOPS.

  • SOY UN ENAMORADO DE LA BUENA MUSICA, SIN ENCASILLARME DEMASIADO A EPOCAS EN ESPECIAL. PARA MI GUSTO ESTE ES UNO DE LOS BUENOS TEMAS DE MI EPOCA JUVENIL. PIENSO QUE LA MUSICA SIEMPRE BARRERAS GENERACIONALES.

  • I remember when this song came crashing into the top ten pushing every great artist aside. The bass line is incredible, Levi Stubbs commanding vocals came from every radio & their arrangement is impeccable. Motown...what a concept. It had a groove that penetrated your pores. Has this music been forsaken today? I don't hear anyone following in the footsteps of the 4 Tops or even Otis Redding. Merilee Rush had a great cover of this track also. Worth looking for.

  • Clasico de The Four Tops, permanece en mi memoria.

  • 9 people never reached out to anybody, they killed themselves.

  • Just look over your shoulder-- the Tops will be there, to give you all the love you need.

  • 9disslikes. the same number as justin bibers followers?

  • levi stubs what a voice second only to deon jackson god rest your soul levi

  • Even after all of this time, people are "Dancin' in the Streets" to their music!

  • I love this song. It says all what women want to hear from a man. The lead singer voice's is amazing.

  • Everybody loves motown, no matter how old you are, because it never lost it's touch, it gives you that warm nostalgic feeling like you live that time even if you were born after this era. And this song is really the best Motown song, it touches you right in the soul. Oh ja, to all you Bieber fans, he is a nice singer but I don't think his songs will be remembered like the everlasting Motown music, He is a hype for now, but will just fade away from everybody 's memory after a decade or so.

  • When you grow up with Motown nothing else will ever measure up. It's the greatest music and it always picks me up!

  • probably the most genuine song in history! this feels so good!

  • best music ever! ever!

  • I see we have some Justin Bieber fans still trolling the entire site 'disliking' everything. Show's their menatality. These guys have long since left the music scene and they're still at the top of their game.

    Nuff said!

  • good

  • THE MIGHTY FOUR TOPS ..GOD BLESS YA,ALL....THANKYOU FOR THE MUSIC XXXX

  • 9 ppl are Temptations fans

  • Man you are not, i'm 17 and i really like it:)

  • Man jamerson is amazingly funky

  • I remember when I was younger, me, my sister and brother used to always here this song in the 90s.

  • let me say i'm 19 and hate boybands however there is a cut off in time where they are lipsyncing calander models and actually talented soulful singers

  • Love it. Used to listen to it every saturday night getting ready to go out. Set me up for the night ahead

  • When you have Holland-Dozier-Holland doing the background work for you, you can't help but be great. But, the Four Tops WERE great! RIP Levi Stubbs.

  • The Four Tops are really an underrated group, not only in the realm music in general, but in R&B as well. It's like when the greatest groups of all-time are mentioned, somehow people manage to neglect the greatness of such immaculate and classy musicianship known as "The Four Tops". We have to do better with teachin the next generation what real music is, perhaps then history can repeat itself and real musicianship will once again rule the air waves.

  • I grew up on Motown music, and there wont ever be anything like it again

  • when music wasn't over produced and it didn't feature a rapper in the middle of the song

  • @ThePsychicAstrologer God was it really 67. Thanks for reminding me. Great music, Peace

  • @546cat0000 why do you have to be there? as long as they are still here its epic

  • Oh my god please tell me im not the only 19 year old here who appreciates this song for the pure epicness it is even here in 2011

  • @Rivera1010 yea im 18 and this is my favorite song now

  • @Rivera1010 22 but whos counting age ^^

  • @Rivera1010 18.. its okay haha

  • @Rivera1010 17 :)

  • @Rivera1010 You're not the only young one. Rock on! =D

  • @Rivera1010 15 years old and I love this! Mainly because I was raised right.
