That's because they have no real happiness in their lives. It is likely they don't have meaningful relationships or hobbies. Your options become less and less in America as you mature in age. Who wants to start all over at the end of their life. You can never have enough saved for retirrment even when taking risk in the US. It's a sad reality.
There's always a reason or excuse for others misfortune until we find ourselves betrayed by the ones we trust. When it happens to us its a different story. That's when we expect the empathy we refuse to give.
@ixfxi well said. It is greed that brought them to this. Madoff was smarter than them although I disaprove of what he did. But somehow I like him making a fool out of these suckers. Hahaha.
to Cheiracanthium: damn right...don't give your money to someone else. I had some money invested with my bosses brother. He had a legit real estate business. I was getting great interest. The guy DROPS DEAD at 40 years old from a heart attack. I had some very nervous weeks with no sleep. I "finally" did get my money back but it could have gone either way
BTW alot of the money these jews invested with Madoff was earned through the slaving of gentiles. So these jewish investors got what they deserved, especially those bums in Palm Beach.
Let it be learned that this man had every advantage and blessing anyone could experience on the planet, health, opportunity, talent, friends, culture, education, intelegence etc. and he still was a cunning theif. Let it be understood that bad is bad and should be treated like other criminals that steel with a gun. At the very least consider creating laws that discontinue access to public monies to any executive who files bankruptcy or is found irresponsible to the point of personal advantage.
Screw the investors, they knew what he was doing and what he was all about. How do you give millions to a guy and not investigate what he is all about. They knkew, not all, but the majority did. How can charities give 50 million to Madoff when the money was used for charity? Swiss banks gave Bernie millions, lol. All suckers. All suckers. Greedy suckers.
Dont just talk the talk - walk the walk - if youre gonna threaten to commit suicide because you thought you were a smarter investor than the average joe dont talk about it - do it - and do it on prime time tv where we can all see it - or shut up.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
The Madoff victims all deserve their financial losses. They were all lazy and greedy; they were all avoiding work - they just wanted their monies to work for them - i.e., passive income. They simply didn't want to live by the sweat of their brows. I say, good for them, they all lost their monies!! Hurrah for Madoff - he was very smart indeed!
Most Madoff investors worked their entire lives to have the money to invest with him in the first place. How do you think they got the money to invest? You think there is something wrong with working, then investing and saving? Blame Madoff, blame the govt for "blessing" Madoff so many times over. And if the govt ever fails you, because you depended upon it for something, don't come crying.
what do you mean with nothing? He is living in a cardboard box and wearing slippers?
He has something, whatever was his should be divided amongst those he ripped off. I don't care if he has to get a prison job, he should have to work to give restitution to those he injured.
The could have put some of their money into gold and diamonds. But they wanted maximum returns. They wanted big bucks, big bucks... oh no, it's the Whammy!
They were greedy vultures, whose mad lust for money clouded their reason. A modicum of common sense would have warned them that the returns they were supposedly getting were either illusory or the result of criminal activity... or, as it turned out, both.
You're a retard. I don't care how much anyone makes. My point, dumb-ass, was that those people were foolish in that they should have known that such returns were highly suspicious in a down economy.
yes, you do CLEARLY care how much people make. it's not that difficult to see. you've got class envy dripping out your slack jaw; clean it up. and even though we're in a down economy, there are still industries that aren't affected as badly and who do make a profit. maybe if the thought of others making more than you infuriates you so, you should go get an advanced degree or something.
Clearly, you're still a wildly presumptuous retard, incapable of understanding the point that I made. You know fuck-all about me and my motives, dummy.
Sure an evil person led them into this, but the investors wer gullible enough to think that Bernie would make them richer overnight, and didn't investigate any laws or trusts that had to do with him, thinking they could bypass anything reasonable by putting their total financial trust in this guy. Bernie may have been a greedy crook, but the people he took down look like they were greedier.Elie Weisel said:"We gave him everything, we thought he was God, we trusted everything in his hands,"
Madoff has been around scamming the world for 40 years in good economies and bad, not just the recent economy. Ponzi schemes have never lasted this long, if not for the govt your tax dollars goes to that supported Madoff. One cannot believe anything the govt ever tells them. Madoff victims made the mistake of beieving in our govt.
Greedy vultures. Why don't you spend just a moment to read about most of the people who were victimized, rather than allow your uneducated biase dictate your thoughts. Most were hard working people who thought he was trustworthy, especailly since our wonderful govt had stated numerous times that he was above board. A modicum of common sense should have told you that.
I couldn't care less about you or those greedy Jews whose and avarice led them to ruin. What kind of fool would believe that any investment returning 10 or more percent come hell or high water could have been on the up and up. You were probably one of them, you stupid cocksucker.
Which part of "I couldn't care less about you" did you fail to understand? You're completely inconsequential to me, cocksucker. Now, run along and fuck yourself.
If I am so "inconsequential" to you as you say I am, then why do you keep responding to my posts? . Not only is your inferiority complex showing but you are totally obsessed with me!
Wow. That's some pretty fallacious logic there, old fucker. I don't know you from a hole in a wall. Nor have I ever communicated with you in any manner whatsoever. Moreover, all of the inferiority complex bullshit is textbook projection. So sad.... really it is.
YOU made an unsolicited comment to me. So, if anyone is an obsessed stalker here, it's you.
Even in your addled Alzheimer's ravaged state, surely you can understand that.
thats your opinion and likely not the one you'd have if you had been directly effected by this or any fraud.
I still think he should be forced to pay everything he can to those he injured and stole from. I mean it when I say I'd make him get a prison job as well.
He has some money. Why should it go any place besides to the victims?
1. You're being purposely obtuse. Most of Madoff's investors were Jews. So, while I might have taken a hit on a fund or 401K that was, unknown to me, involved with him, I wouldn't have lost the bulk of my savings. Either you already knew that, of you're just stupid as fuck.
2. Again, you're being obtuse. Personal knowledge of the Great depression has led me not to dump all of my money into the crap shoot that is the stock market. Gold will always be gold.
stop being childish, its like me saying that if he were Austrian there would no way I'd ever be affected because I'm not Austrian.
You want to make attacks against the victims, go ahead, show us how cool and cruel u can be.
The point is that if I sold you tires and then put a sharp piece of metal on your driveway a week later day you'd cry like a baby for fraud if you found out after buying another tire. You'd def. want your money back.
You suck at making analogies. That's not the same thing at all, unless, unbeknown to me, Austrian Americans routinely and ubiquitously collude to rip off every non-Austrian who has the misfortune of crossing their paths.
That's how Berny was able to rip off all of those Jews. They thought that he was their little secret; a mensch exclusively available to them, who gave them and their Jew-Only charities a distinct advantage over all of the goyische dreck.
yes i do suck at analogies, i always have, but do wonder whether you have always had such a difficult time not avoiding the points people make.
You keep trying to make this such a specific case and rant and rave about Jews. Its not only absurd its not the point. At least not the one I was making.
The point I was making is that he should pay people back and that you seem to think its cool to be crude, rude and to have a lack of empathy for others. I think its pretty superficial and weak.
I have a lack of both empathy and sympathy for people who thought they were slicker than owl shit and got summarily taken to the cleaners.
In the market, you spin the wheel and you take your chances. Everyone knows that. So, if you choose to put all of your eggs in one basket, then you ultimately must blame yourself.
Madoff isn't going to pay back any significant amount of money. You can forget about that. The latest figure exceeds $60 billion. It's gone. Get over it or jump from a window.
...if i was stupid enough to have put all of my eggs into one highly dubious basket, I wouldn't deserve sympathy. And, retribution isn't going to get their money back. Madoff was merely the instrument of fate. Their stupidity is what made their money go up in smoke. If it hadn't been old Berny, it would have been a Nigerian Prince... ROFL
Do you understand what a ponzi pyramid is? This guy has money to live a decent life, but he does not have all the money these people ever gave him, most of it was givin back to older investors, that's how a ponzi works. I wouldn't be surprised if he had less than 1Bil to his name.
i know. I understand. Guess what. 1 billion goes a long ways. Its sure a good first step to what was it $60 billion. If his sons were involved then maybe there is another billion. Maybe some middle men turn up with some other money in some bank accounts somewhere.
If I was representing one of these people maybe I wouldn't get them everything, but they'd sure get some kind of retribution for their injury from the guilty.
If I ever make a cool million or 2, I won't invest it. I'll just put it in different banks at the FDIC maximum and live off the interest. I won't live big either. That's my motto "earn like a king, live in shit."

It is so difficult to feel bad for people who were not hard workers but just were part of the cult of greed, not doing any work and collecting money.

Madoff is to a murderer as his victims are as to those who walk in the ghetto after dark.
Nonetheless, lethal injection would have sufficed.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
The Madoff victims all deserve their financial losses.

And if the govt ever fails you, because you depended upon it for something, don't come crying.

i don't care how much time he is behind bars he should have to pay back the people he stole from. Thats horrible.
daderone 2 years ago
Yeah, cause that is real doable. Do you understand what happened here? How would he pay back over 50Billion dollars with nothing?
agentbong138 2 years ago
what do you mean with nothing? He is living in a cardboard box and wearing slippers?
He has something, whatever was his should be divided amongst those he ripped off. I don't care if he has to get a prison job, he should have to work to give restitution to those he injured.

They got what they deserved.
The could have put some of their money into gold and diamonds. But they wanted maximum returns. They wanted big bucks, big bucks... oh no, it's the Whammy!
Hoopskidoodle 2 years ago
oh GOD FORBID people try and get the maximum return for their investment.
arequipa1 2 years ago 2
They were greedy vultures, whose mad lust for money clouded their reason. A modicum of common sense would have warned them that the returns they were supposedly getting were either illusory or the result of criminal activity... or, as it turned out, both.
Hoopskidoodle 2 years ago
if you're so offended, you could move to cuba. come on get real. you probably get mad because you think pro athletes get paid too much, too.
arequipa1 2 years ago
You're a retard. I don't care how much anyone makes. My point, dumb-ass, was that those people were foolish in that they should have known that such returns were highly suspicious in a down economy.
Does it hurt to be that stupid?
Hoopskidoodle 2 years ago
yes, you do CLEARLY care how much people make. it's not that difficult to see. you've got class envy dripping out your slack jaw; clean it up. and even though we're in a down economy, there are still industries that aren't affected as badly and who do make a profit. maybe if the thought of others making more than you infuriates you so, you should go get an advanced degree or something.

still, its not their fault their lives were ruined. an evil person was luring them into this.
sharinganclan213 2 years ago 3

Cynmark24 2 years ago
Greedy vultures. Why don't you spend just a moment to read about most of the people who were victimized, rather than allow your uneducated biase dictate your thoughts. Most were hard working people who thought he was trustworthy, especailly since our wonderful govt had stated numerous times that he was above board. A modicum of common sense should have told you that.
Cynmark24 2 years ago
I couldn't care less about you or those greedy Jews whose and avarice led them to ruin. What kind of fool would believe that any investment returning 10 or more percent come hell or high water could have been on the up and up. You were probably one of them, you stupid cocksucker.
Hoopskidoodle 2 years ago
I must thank you. You could not have made a better case than by your own words as to what kind of a person you are.

Hoopskidoodle 2 years ago
thats your opinion and likely not the one you'd have if you had been directly effected by this or any fraud.
I still think he should be forced to pay everything he can to those he injured and stole from. I mean it when I say I'd make him get a prison job as well.
He has some money. Why should it go any place besides to the victims?
daderone 2 years ago
1. I'm not Jewish
2. My parents lived through the Great Depression (which has made me paranoid about just this sort of thing)
So, it's unlikely that I will ever be in that position.
FYI: I couldn't have been effected by fraud. I was effected by my parents having screwed.
Affected and effected are disparate words.
Hoopskidoodle 2 years ago
1. has absolutely nothing to do with anything.
2. You purposefully miss the point and then try to side step answering by pretending to be a spelling queen.
So if you were suffering or had been taken advantage of you wouldn't deserve any empathy or retribution? Give me a break.
daderone 2 years ago
Hoopskidoodle 2 years ago
stop being childish, its like me saying that if he were Austrian there would no way I'd ever be affected because I'm not Austrian.
You want to make attacks against the victims, go ahead, show us how cool and cruel u can be.
The point is that if I sold you tires and then put a sharp piece of metal on your driveway a week later day you'd cry like a baby for fraud if you found out after buying another tire. You'd def. want your money back.
daderone 2 years ago
You suck at making analogies. That's not the same thing at all, unless, unbeknown to me, Austrian Americans routinely and ubiquitously collude to rip off every non-Austrian who has the misfortune of crossing their paths.
That's how Berny was able to rip off all of those Jews. They thought that he was their little secret; a mensch exclusively available to them, who gave them and their Jew-Only charities a distinct advantage over all of the goyische dreck.
Oh, the delicious schadefreude, ROFL
Hoopskidoodle 2 years ago
yes i do suck at analogies, i always have, but do wonder whether you have always had such a difficult time not avoiding the points people make.
You keep trying to make this such a specific case and rant and rave about Jews. Its not only absurd its not the point. At least not the one I was making.
The point I was making is that he should pay people back and that you seem to think its cool to be crude, rude and to have a lack of empathy for others. I think its pretty superficial and weak.
daderone 2 years ago
I have a lack of both empathy and sympathy for people who thought they were slicker than owl shit and got summarily taken to the cleaners.
In the market, you spin the wheel and you take your chances. Everyone knows that. So, if you choose to put all of your eggs in one basket, then you ultimately must blame yourself.
Madoff isn't going to pay back any significant amount of money. You can forget about that. The latest figure exceeds $60 billion. It's gone. Get over it or jump from a window.
Hoopskidoodle 2 years ago 2
...if i was stupid enough to have put all of my eggs into one highly dubious basket, I wouldn't deserve sympathy.

I wouldn't be surprised if he had less than 1Bil to his name.
agentbong138 2 years ago
