My friend has one with an aftermarket twin turbo. His will do 0-60 in 6 seconds which for an early 80's isn't bad. DMC of TX offers a Stage 2 performance upgrade with 70 more horsepower. They're also working on a Stage 3 upgrade with 260 hp. Delorean's may not by fast but they're great cruiser cars.

Not from DMC, but there is a gentleman in Vegas who has a Delorean with a V8 from a Lotus Esprit. There's also some that have been made with Cadillac V8 engines.

totally agree here, that car is timeless as far as style and looks are concerned, but engine and performancewise it really could need some extra engineering to be done, but like its already been said here several aftermarket gadgets and kits have already started to address the stock deloreans lacks

I sat in a turbo Delorean last weekend. It was fantastic! It was like sitting on a comfy couch. The custom exhaust and turbo system sounded great. Awesome cars.

I live in the north of england and was driving along a back lane and found a delorean dumped up a track. It had a light front end knock to the front wing (bet those panels are a bitch to get in from halfords) The window was down on the passenger side and the door unlocked. I had a poke around but couldnt find the flux capacitor :) It was odd seeing a rare legend just left. I took some pics on me phone then phoned the police as i didnt want someone to rob/vandalise it.

DMC of Houston offers a Stage 2 peformance upgrade for the Delorean Volvo engine. It has 197 hp vs the original 130 hp. There's a Stage 3 upgrade comng out this year. Rumor has it that the power is around 300 hp.

how rare are these cars, i havnt actually seen one before on the streets and ive been to alot of cars shows and conventions. How many off these cars were built, and where are they now?

8500 were originally built. Around 7,000 survive. However Delorean Motor Company is back in business and they are currently building cars now. The new cars are basically the same as before, but with updates and a optional 197 hp Stage 2 engine. The new cars are on special order and only 12 are built a year. The new cars start at $57,000. You can a good used one with updates for around $25,000. You just have to do a lot of looking and be patient.

For you Deloreans fans out there, there is a Stage 3 performance package for the Delorean coming out next year. It susposed to have around 300 hp. It has a turbo version of the Stage 2 engine frm Delorean of Houston. Only bad part is that they painted the stainless steel! I can't believe it!

I talked to a guy that owns a turbo Delorean. His has twin turbos and generates 215 hp. Being that the Delorean only weighs about 2800 pounds the car will do 0-60 in 6 seconds in that configuration.

Deloreans don't come with flux capacitors standand. Although there are lots of people who can make one easily. They can also make the vents on the back, lights, nuclear reactor on the back, everything. Personally I couldn't do that to a Delorean even though it's cool. The car is too beautiful to destroy.
