Is it possible for a person who is non military to purchase, own and fly this plane, or any fighter jet? .... can i buy this plane privatly is what im asking ?
@junwson As I understand it, its being offered as an alternative to the F-22. This is a more streamlined version, more modern. The israelis have voiced interest in this aircraft, especially since the F-22 was cancelled.
I don't understand why we're wasting money on upgrading the F-15 when we have the F-22. Especially since day 1, the F-22 program was suppose to replace the F-15.

@R3rules The YF-23 Black Widow II is battle ready in the mid-90s and is way better than the F-22, but lockheed won the contract which we have now the F-22, so now the only 2 YF-23's is in the museum.

Thanks but Russia doesn't have stealth aircraft yet. They have a couple prototypes but that's about it. I know every one on u-tube think they are a tactile air commander. Lol The fact is the United States is the only country with a reliable stealth aircraft that no country can top so far.
The problem with f15 16 and 18 are they are not useful anymore they would be shot out of the sky in a real war with a major power. That's what people do not understand the new surface to air missile's very cheap and very very accurate now and generation 4 and 4 1/2 will not survive. The only hope is to have a cheep stealthy fighter which can evade most sam's. People will say that I am wrong but professionals will say im exactly right.

@Baseshocks ShinShin is an experimental aircraft, not to be used by air forces. It will make a good starting point to develop a 5th gen fighter jet which will take another 5 to 10 years.
But from what i heard the F35 will replace the F16, lots of famous aircraft designers say the F35 is useless, and because it has short wings it turns slowly. And that makes me worry.

Why make this to other countries? We need to build some for ourselves since we're not making anymore F-22s. You probably wouldn't agree with me on this, but I think the F-14, with some modifications and improvements, would have been better the the F/A-18.
this may be the solution to the issue with our military budget issue, the raptor cost 250 million dollar a piece, which is why there are only 180 of them, whereas i can imagine the silent eagle would be considerably cheaper, putting newer technology into a truely tested airframe, go boeing!
@TheBrute86 Its actually 400 million+, if you include initial developement costs, plus projected maintainance costs and training costs for crew for the first 100,000 fleet flight hours. Yes I think improving on the past tried and tested airframes is much more realistic for now.
ln a moment's delay in detection is what will shift the advantage & cost dearly.When stand-off missiles fail(unlikely possibility),the 2 opposing fighters will come into close-quarters combat,that's when the one lacking super-maneuverability will definately stand to loose,as the one that has can evade & turn around better.The US badly needs to deploy TVNs on all F16,15 &18 & in much urgency.The F15/18 need a redesign of its stabilators to accommodate TVNs without burning away its trailling edge

From what I heard these angled tails are for reducing radar signatures, but their unproven sturdiness coupled with the new weapon bays ( I believe they are reliable) make people here wonder if they are 1) battle-worthy, 2) affordable (than F-15C/Ds), 3) and if they can be more stealthy. (I hear they are stealthy only from certain angles. )
It seems F/A-18E/F is a better choice. It's stealthy and goes well with the AWACS if not with KC-767s. It can refuel rescue helicopters. This is important.

@SabbathStone666 No, canting the wings out 15* to either side reduces side radar signature. Besides that, they're covering the plane in IR-absorbent material (says Wikipedia). Nothing's 100% stealthy, but anything helps. It's also cheaper than the F-22 and F-35 (though not the PAK-FA). Granted, they are all different planes built for different things.
su-35 is NOT 4++ fighter!! its still a 4th gen due to its lack of AESA radar. not to mention, there are only 18 of them. the f-15 is undoubtedly the most succesful fighter jet in history. it has been in service for over 30 years, and been in multiple wars, yet it has never been shot down. the f16 is good too: in the IAF, its combat record remains 75-0. just cause an airplane looks pretty and is good on paper doent mean its better. its whats inside that counts. including the pilot.

Great fighter aircraft...F-15 and Su-27 - my lovely fighters...their airframes checked through the years and real great base for the best families of all their 4th gen aircrafts...Su-35C (Su-37) is 4++...F-15SE is 4++...real rivals.
Anyway to my mind F-15 conception is much more lucky and interesting than F-22 and F-35.
I do not have any "clear and exact data" about the SE. But one thing's for sure ..this F-15 SE is on the drawing board while it's counter part is already flying with improvements taking regularly. MiG-29 SMT is comparable to SE and... I would say F-22 is a real competitor for the sukhoi 30 and the latest PAK FA

The F-22 and the PAK-FA and F-22 and the F-15SE are probably going to be the most stealthy planes out there. China copies russia, while russia learns what the US has and tries to rush out with a competitor. I know russia started working on a stealth plane for as long as we rolled out the F-22.

Its been deployment ready through 4 wars, and has never once been used. And the Navy doesn't want it, because its too expensive and problematic.

@OlderG0ds We are constantly using our subs. Just because they dont launch nuclear weapons dont mean we dont use them. They provide tactical naval intelligence, for example. The f-22 cannot go anywhere on its own. Stealth means jack if the base it has to stop at, the plane it has to refuel from, or the carrier its sitting on isnt stealth as well. What makes a plane "cool" at airshows and in statistics dont mean anything if it breaks the bank doing things at 10 times the cost.

@5xthejoy The f-22 is NOT "King"! Never was! The F-23 IS King to the f-22. The F-15 is currently King and all of the variants of the F-15 (and still in production, f-22 will stop at 195). The F-15 can do more things and are more capable than what the f-22 ever was. Their are over 2k of F-15 but only 195 of f-22.
Well, the F-15s have been out longer and more affordable to other countries. Also, the US never intends to sell the F-22. It's years ahead of any other capable fighter. So far, every other country is responding to the US F-22 where F-22s are already considered to have "initial operational capabilities". The Russian PAK is flying but still under test phases. The Chinese...well...they're still trying to develop Stealth. Russia is far ahead of the Chinese at this point.

@quickzilver333 You do know that the military created three versions of the F-35? Its original plan was to replace all "fighter jets" like the harrier, F-16, F-15 even the A-10 so I heard. But that won't happen since our military had reduced the amount, due to delays and budget.. Over all, with that same amount of money we could have invested in F-15SE or the F-18 super hornet.

Su-37 was canceled. Su-35s (former su-35bm) is the most advanced serial Russian plane for now. It have reduced thrust vectoring for common duty.
Also Su-34 as a bomber, mig-29m and interceptor mig-31bm - as the upgraded to the modern avionics standards.
T-50 and mig-35 still developing.

@tehatemachine its watered down stealth, it being a export aircraft the U.S government did not allow Boeing to develop it to its full stealth potential, look underneath it, why do they not have the area between the engines covered too for more internal payload or fuel.. im no engineer but im guessing its one of the drawback rules. Also read that their was no modifications to the engines to make less heat... im sure their is tons more.

this may be the solution to the issue with our military budget issue, the raptor cost 250 million dollar a piece, which is why there are only 180 of them, whereas i can imagine the silent eagle would be considerably cheaper, putting newer technology into a truely tested airframe, go boeing!

ln a moment's delay in detection is what will shift the advantage & cost dearly.When stand-off missiles fail(unlikely possibility),the 2 opposing fighters will come into close-quarters combat,that's when the one lacking super-maneuverability will definately stand to loose,as the one that has can evade & turn around better.The US badly needs to deploy TVNs on all F16,15 &18 & in much urgency.The F15/18 need a redesign of its stabilators to accommodate TVNs without burning away its trailling edge

It's not 100% stealth. The F-15 is an undefeated fighter now the USA have the F-15 Silent Eagle. The F-22 is back in service also with new upgrades. The F-18 super hornet is next to be upgraded just like the F-15. Russia is shitting bricks.....LOL!

Russia doesn't even have a plane in production that has stealth capability. The Sukhoi T-50 PAK-FA is not even in production and it has not full seatlth capability. In addition to that it's a joint project of Russia and India. It's like combining Junk and Cheap...LOL!

From what I heard these angled tails are for reducing radar signatures, but their unproven sturdiness coupled with the new weapon bays ( I believe they are reliable) make people here wonder if they are 1) battle-worthy, 2) affordable (than F-15C/Ds), 3) and if they can be more stealthy. (I hear they are stealthy only from certain angles. )
It seems F/A-18E/F is a better choice. It's stealthy and goes well with the AWACS if not with KC-767s. It can refuel rescue helicopters. This is important.

@SabbathStone666 No, canting the wings out 15* to either side reduces side radar signature. Besides that, they're covering the plane in IR-absorbent material (says Wikipedia). Nothing's 100% stealthy, but anything helps. It's also cheaper than the F-22 and F-35 (though not the PAK-FA). Granted, they are all different planes built for different things.

su-35 is NOT 4++ fighter!! its still a 4th gen due to its lack of AESA radar. not to mention, there are only 18 of them. the f-15 is undoubtedly the most succesful fighter jet in history. it has been in service for over 30 years, and been in multiple wars, yet it has never been shot down. the f16 is good too: in the IAF, its combat record remains 75-0. just cause an airplane looks pretty and is good on paper doent mean its better. its whats inside that counts. including the pilot.

Great fighter aircraft...F-15 and Su-27 - my lovely fighters...their airframes checked through the years and real great base for the best families of all their 4th gen aircrafts...Su-35C (Su-37) is 4++...F-15SE is 4++...real rivals.
Anyway to my mind F-15 conception is much more lucky and interesting than F-22 and F-35.

I do not have any "clear and exact data" about the SE. But one thing's for sure ..this F-15 SE is on the drawing board while it's counter part is already flying with improvements taking regularly. MiG-29 SMT is comparable to SE and... I would say F-22 is a real competitor for the sukhoi 30 and the latest PAK FA

@shashair yes, U R right..there is no F-15SE which are operated now...but MIG-29SMT is not a rival for F-15SE anyway cuz it has absolutely different appointment...MiG-29SMT should be compared with F-18E...and the real rival for F-15SE is Su-35C (Su-37)..(Su-35BM is an export variant)...F-22 should be compared with PAK FA but there is no PAK FA which is operated now...my opinion - it is possible to compare technologies but not the planes...as for Su-30 - it is very good for its+++cont+++

Ther is no doubt at ALL, that f22 is the current most capable air superiority fighter. If you know anything at all about militay aerospace tech, and the design and capabilities of F-22, as well as its competitors, you simply cant argue against its supremacy.
There are hundreds of other isues though, like cost, and the number of planes it might go up against that means its not a 'I win button' for the US president. I mean arent they still grounded anyway? Great plane, but failed by politics.

The F-22 and the PAK-FA and F-22 and the F-15SE are probably going to be the most stealthy planes out there. China copies russia, while russia learns what the US has and tries to rush out with a competitor. I know russia started working on a stealth plane for as long as we rolled out the F-22.

@dobrovolets777 Well lasers aren't mounted on fighters yet, but they have been mounted on larger aircraft. If you don't think they are useful, then you need to do some research. The turrent mounted one on the 747 opens many possibilities. A weapon that hits instantly, is impossible to dodge, and can also defend against incoming missles. It is a potent weapon.

Oh, and before some asshole throws the Russian PAK-FA T-50 out there? Sorry, but aircraft still in development and not even past the prototype phase don't count for anything. Besides, thing sacrificed much of its stealth for agility. It could outfly an F-22, but would get blown out of the sky before it ever detected one.

The F-22 is not just expensive to make, its expensive to maintain. But dont take my work for it. Our military has stopped making the f-22, under 200 compared to the original 800+. Its been deployment ready through 4 wars, and has never once been used. And the Navy doesn't want it, because its too expensive and problematic.

The B-2 is much more useful in today's battle field, because our enemies are going to be on the ground, and being able to get in, perform surgical strikes and get out without ever being noticed, trategically speaking, makes the B-2 infinitely more precious than the F-22. Why do we need a stealth air to air fighter, if we have B-2's to knock out radar installations? There are only 20 B-2's and its already been on many sorties.

@OlderG0ds We are constantly using our subs. Just because they dont launch nuclear weapons dont mean we dont use them. They provide tactical naval intelligence, for example. The f-22 cannot go anywhere on its own. Stealth means jack if the base it has to stop at, the plane it has to refuel from, or the carrier its sitting on isnt stealth as well. What makes a plane "cool" at airshows and in statistics dont mean anything if it breaks the bank doing things at 10 times the cost.

THere are some modifications to give it some air to surface capability but the plane itself is not designed for much payload, so no matter what it will be a very expensive and inefficient way to deploy such weapons. Also remember, fighters have short range. What fighters do Russia or China have that's going to fly all the way over here? They will need to refuel, which renders moot their stealth capablility. think about it.

@5xthejoy The f-22 is NOT "King"! Never was! The F-23 IS King to the f-22. The F-15 is currently King and all of the variants of the F-15 (and still in production, f-22 will stop at 195). The F-15 can do more things and are more capable than what the f-22 ever was. Their are over 2k of F-15 but only 195 of f-22.

Well, the F-15s have been out longer and more affordable to other countries. Also, the US never intends to sell the F-22. It's years ahead of any other capable fighter. So far, every other country is responding to the US F-22 where F-22s are already considered to have "initial operational capabilities". The Russian PAK is flying but still under test phases. The Chinese...well...they're still trying to develop Stealth. Russia is far ahead of the Chinese at this point.

@TuRkmEnOkaN the Pak fa and F-22 are equal in range,speed,really almost everything execpt the PAK FA has a faster super cruise speed and the F-22 has a higher max takeoff weight

They did a test of five f-15eagle went against a single f-22 raptor and the f-22 took them down 1by1 .. They had no idea where f-22 came from but the f-15s where all locked on by f22
