  • nothing beats this sounds. takes me way way back:::)))

  • alright this is just a hippie stoners say but this song is amazing to get baked to

  • This is my best favorite song of my life since I was a kid into my teenage. I always and always love this song so much especially the instrmental version of this song. This is and always & much better of a original version song than that corny ass Joan Jett shit.

  • Billboard's 250th #1 hit of the rock era. THIS is the version that should be played on oldies radio, right, gang? Don't care how many songs they can squeeze in into a certain time amount. It's the full length versions that we care 'bout!

  • Ahh,my youth! My interpertation of the song???-It was THE 'Doin'-It-Song' long before Foghat's 'Slow Ride'(great).I first heard Tommy ('I Think We're Alone Now') in the early 60's on WLS radio in Chicago.Good times!!!

  • Very underrated song (and singer).

  • The definitive use of the Leslie...

  • the flashing was fucking with my head.......WTF...??

  • The sound becomes warped.....?????????

  • Very nice indeed:)

  • takes me back yo a simpler time when i didnt have a care in the world thank you tommy for a wonderful piece of music

  • This is the song that I learned how to use the wah-wah pedal on. Never did use the pedal for many other songs, but after constant practice I had this song down. Sure flashes me back to the summer of 72 again!

  • Always loved this song, an absolute belter.

  • Tommy James. Use to JAM to this in my mustang convertible. Another classic.

  • Thank you for posting this masterpiece complete!

  • i love the teenagers who love joan's cheezy version better than the orig. he he

  • @robi2000 Yeah but this guy sounds way gay or constipated lol talk about cheesy! he is really feeling it...but feeling what? lol

  • This is one of the many great songs that made up the soundtrack of my childhood. This reminds me of endless summers, the searsucker rompers mom used to make me wear and rollerskating with my best friend. Sounds corny I know but it was a time that held such an absolute joy of life, feeling carefree and that nothing bad or tragic could ever happen. Then you grow up. But if you're feeling a bit down, just listen to music and poof, your back in 1969. Music is an amazing gift.

  • @Msdistarr gotta admit, i really liked your comment

  • @robi2000 Thanks. I absolutely love music and its incredible power to evoke both memories and emotion in just a split second . There is nothing else that I know of that can do that. Music and the human brain, 2 amazing things.

  • @Msdistarr AGREED!!!!!!! When I was young during this time, :), after we finished lunch, my siblings and I would go to the family room for "quiet time" and mom would put this on (on the old reel-to-reel! lol). We'd lie on the floor and listen to the whole album! Good times!!!

  • This IS the long version of the song, one that Tommy James personally mixed several years ago that he says is the way he originally wanted the song released.

  • one of the best by a truly super band

  • one of the great groups and songs of the 60`s

  • i like joan jet better this is gay!!!

  • Get the book listed below - brilliantly written, engrossing. I knew nothing about TJ&TS until I read this book, this weekend. 200+ pages read in two days, it's THAT well written - an independent opinion.

Me, The Mob, & The Music, Tommy James [of The Shondells]; Scribner [Simon & Shuster, Inc.] (2010)

  • Do love the full version! We'd run the full version as the club was filling before the show would start formally. The kids asked who the great new band was and the name of that great song! The best part is it was 1996! Gotta love it.

  • @dahger7 by the way

  • Oh! The long version I like so much and never get to hear! Thanks for posting this.

  • This song actually killed bubblegum music and changed top 40 music forever.

  • Hum, I don't know about that. The Osmonds and j5 were still going strong in the mid 70's, and I think this song was recorded around 1969. I could be wrong.

  • This is the song that literally killed "bubblegum" music!

  • one of the best songs ever made

  • this song makes me think of Towelie from South Park. "Wanna get high?"

    :D

  • lol!!! yeah!!

  • @Sytijinx : o

  • Agree! golden years I doubt we will ever see again...

    cheers Sir..

  • @smtmsmtm88 Oh yeah, Your're so right. Prices were decent, cars were American, young ladies were sweet, and there wasn't anything that couldn't be cured with Penicillan.

  • I remember dancing to this at my first high school dance with a guy from Bridgeport ont. who i totally lost track of but what a awesome guy.

  • this and "Crystal Blue Persuasion" , '69 was a beautiful year for me as a kid.

  • for folks which i have explain when tommy james did song he did a long verison n short reason radio had time lines for just 3 mins are 4 dependin on song.....like american pie for years we never got Don Mclean priginal version he did for 8 mins...cause oldies stations n when was on reg station had to cut for time.....U all understand now please no stupid remarks i not know english n i stupid

  • yeah, it actually IS the original LP version.. i have it..

  • I think this version is too long and drawn out, I think Ill stick with the original

  • What memories, when I was in Nam in 1969 and we worked with the armor dudes, some would ahve crimson and clover written on their tanks. great song

  • Such an addicting song...and much better than the cut version.

  • Great! I did'nt know this version... so good!

  • Hooray! This is the original LP version with the tape speed error!

  • Actually, this isn't the original LP version but rather a remix that Tommy James himself did a few years ago. He said this is the way he originally intended the song to sound but the record company wouldn't let him put this one out, even on the LP.

  • What is the LP version? There is an obvious tape speed error in this recording.

  • LP is a record.

  • No shit.

  • @SlimeTron5000

The original LP version clocked in at around 3 minutes, 30 seconds. The pitch-shift actually was done on purpose. Maybe you like it, maybe you don't, but it wasn't a mistake.

  • I do not have an opinion toward the speed of the song.

  • If when we use have a old's station in atlanta called Fox 97 they would play this long verison alot as in american Pie...but in 2004 they can oldes stations around here....sad

  • hah! I used to listen to that all the time

  • Yes, thanks SO much for posting the long version. I love the short one too but this was the version I was first introduced to, so it's the one I'm most familiar with and the one I favor.

  • I love this song. I have an 8-track of TJ&S. I'd forgotten about the full version. All I ever hear on oldies stations is the short one.

  • Takes me to sweet time.peace and love.

  • I sang this song on a stage when I was many 2o somehting... I sang it loud and I sounded good too...

oh, I was the only one left in the place, my friends were waiting for me outside, I told them I had forgotten my coat...

yeah, that was a good time me up there on the stage..

hey, was that MY 15 minutes of fame we all hear about? hmm

  • Anyone know this song? Hold on just a little bit tighter now baby, I love you so much that I can't let go oh no nono hold on just alittle bit ? now baby, A woman can touch your soul now oh no don't lalalal something? it's maybe a late 70s song? i want to find it. plz help

Tighter, Tighter by Alive 'n Kickin'

  • Ya Tommy James and Bob King wrote it for Alive N Kickin "Tighter Tighter". Released 1970.

  • thanks!

  • I´m 44 and this was my FIRST favourite song EVER when i was about FOUR years old.

and i played it by MYSELF on my uncles tiny turntable.

    this is GREAT music !

  • ha got you both beat, I'm 48, I remember hearing this song all the time at age 8 when my dad was stationed at Travis AFB in California. Lots of hippies around at that time in '69, including our neighbors in Fairfield (they played Light My Fire ALL the time).

  • @AFBrat77

so we started listening to the song at just the same time, but I was younger and lived on a diff. continent.

I think that makes me win ... ;)

  • you got me beat ;), I was born in Guam though (dad was stationed there)

  • I love this version, it's hard to find the extended bridge. Love this song, makes me feel like I'm in touch with my softer side. My favorite line: My mind is such a sweet thing, i wanna do everything, what a beautiful feeling.

  • I think he's saying, "My,my such a sweet thing" meaning the person he's in love with

  • Iam 28 years old and I love this song its so beautiful

  • .......peace.....

  • I would play this and my baby liked hearing the soothing melody of it. Today he is seven and likes dancing. Oldies are a household thing!

  • Thanks sooo much! i've never heard the full version and i'm so glad i found it!!!

  • Lips Without Lipstick "Do you remember me? How can I ever forget you! From that very first look.... Lips without Lipstick, your sparkling intuitive eyes so sincere, so true. In my eye your enchanting youthful inquisitive gaze. Your thoughts picking my mind, observing my clumsy, stumbling daze. Im only a captive audience, my ego so vulnerable not knowing what to do. Trying to escape from prying eyes, such a strange kind of magic, projecting from you...." Cory2000
  • This is by far the best fan video I've seen for this song.

Beautiful song, and a beautiful photographic and videographic footage =)

I specially liked the butterfly at minute 2 :D

Curious, because that part actually makes me think of butterflies.... hehe... awesome video dude, awesome :D

  • One fine day my bed will be empty, unslept. One fine day my house will be empty, unkept. One fine day my heart will fly, filled with love truly. For one fine day I will kiss the lips of my Julie.

  • Thinking of you -- what a nice dedication, disfasia1. My sentiments exactly. Thanks for posting...

  • I saw Mr. James and the Shondells on Saturday night 08/15 . At 40+ years later he is totally awesome! And very nice with the crowd going out into the audinece to shake hands and take pictures with fans. His music is timeless.

  • @tabbycat50 Agreed...I have seen him liv 2 times and both times he took time to talk to us backstage after the show...

  • This is the song that made Caleb Followill (Kings of Leon) want to start making music.

    I can see why.

  • grate song!!!! one of there best by far

  • I believe you mean to write: "Great song!!!! One of their best by far." However, this is still grammatically appalling.

  • oh great grammar cop get lost pig

  • When I hear this, the late 60s come flooding back like a tidal wave....images of Walter Cronkite reporting how many GIs were killed that day in Vietnam, landing on the moon, carefree summer days running barefoot....so long ago...

  • Yeah man remember that !! wow to remember all that tragedy yet there was music to give us peace and look forward to a better time.......

  • Amazing song,....a must hear !!!!!!

  • you'd better get some help.

  • one of my favs ..love it

  • sweet tune.. one of my favorites....
