ah, the stepping stones, as I recall. Finally got an rs232 cable to work on mine and my friends amiga sometime after this was released and we spent about 30 hours straight racig head-t-head on them until mine blew up, lol. The rollercoaster always ended at the top of the first hill, whoever was behind would just drive full speed into the other guy and he would be launched into space.

I remember first playing this in school. We had a fund raising sale and the older boys brought in their state-of-the-art Amigas and set them up in the science room. Made a games arcade. I bought it for my Amstrad CPC464+. I still remember the wording on the cassette cover "gargantuan arcs......" Now Im waiting for BF3, how times have changed!

when this game released on amiga that time pc had no colors on the screen, it was grey color, so dont think this game is no good,

As for the PC having 'no colour', well, this game, which features 16 colour graphics from a palette of 4096 was available in 1989. VGA graphics on the PC, which had 256 colour graphics from a total palette of 262,144 was available from 1987.

This was a bad ass game for its day! I never played this game but I grew up in the 8 and 16 bit era of computers and consoles starting with my Apple ][ and many of my friends had Amiga's. I wanted an Amiga also because of the games and graphics and sound but never got one. Great System and not just for games. I wound up using the extensively in my 9th grade computer graphics class and the video capabilities were ahead of their time, In many ways they were better then PC and Mac at the time.

A friend and I used to play this game using the two-player hook-up option via the RS232 cable. Utterly fantastic racing each other and trying to overtake on dangerous corners and jumps ,etc. We also used to drive in opposite directions and try and jump over each other. Fantastic game!!!!!!

Yes, where are you, Geoff Crammond? Since 2002 (the mighty "Grand Prix 4" I still keep playing today) there's nothing to see from him. There were rumours he wanted to do a new "Stunt Car Racer", but the hopes are gone a long time ago. Where is this genius hiding? So many bad racing-games on the market and the savior is nowhere to see. For example Codemasters is trying to do a "Formula One"-Game now, but I bet it will be trash against the "Grand Prix"-Series from Crammond. WHERE ARE YOU??? =(

You can run the Amiga game. Get the WinUAE emulator, and the Stunt Car Racer Rom. It runs fine, even on an old scrap pc. :)

I still remember the fun we had linking this up in multiplayer mode with an rs232 cable. After playing it seriously for a while, we ended up just mucking around to see how bad a wreck we could produce. The funniest was when we reversed one car at great speed up a large hill with the other car going forwards up the other side of the same hill - the clunking sound as the cars met and one car scraped across the roof of the other was superb.

Brilliant game. I kept my old Amiga for years so I could keep playing this, until I discovered the WinUAE emulator could play it perfectly on the PC.

I loved the fact that if you completed and won the entire championship, it would repeat from the start, but this time with blue tracks and much much faster cars :)

This one and Speedball 2 rank on top of my favorite games list, had them both on C64 and oddly enough even though I bought an Amiga as well (still have them both btw - priceless), I always preferred the 8-bit versions. :)

Pure awesome fun, perfect example of how gameplay is so much better than graphics, something new gamers haven't experienced.

I guess closest thing to a modern version is Trackmania series.

It was smoother on ST. Has the exactly the same graphics on both machines. And the sound on ST was also better, although it was not digitized.

This game is an exception for Amiga vs ST case ;-). Like F16 Falcon and Armour Geddon also.
