All they do is reading and wrting codes like: 0,0,1,0,1,0 and that's all they do, no the PS3 has less RAM yes, but that is because, like you said, it's mainly for only gaming and home theather. But if they are both the same behind the Hardware why can't you make it do something else.'I mean no one complain's about the iPhone being Jailbroken, that was also GeoHotz. Anonymous would not take down PSN without just cause. Right now, Sony has been committing atrocities against hackers, makers, and innovators. Look up the Make Magazine article documenting an extensive list of Sony's crimes against Geohot and others over many years. Their crimes cannot go unpunished. Anonymous will prevail for the greater good, so stop whining and deal with it until it's sorted.
