Thank you so much for posting this. I was taken there by my grandparents right around the time this was shot, and I only had my memories to recall what it was like until now. True story, the Ferris Wheel operator fell asleep while we were on the ride and my grandfather had to shout at him to wake him up so we could get off. Haha!
Ready for a mind blower? I was just looking for old Palace footage and came across this video. At 41 seconds in.. I'M IN THIS VIDEO!..I worked there as a teenager in the 80's. I'm the long haired guy behind the prize counter! I'm 40 now and haven't been to Asbury Park in ages. I never thought I'd see my teenage self on a total stranger's video..BTW I loved the Palace..Went there as a kid myself. Thank you so much for uploading this.
Thanks! I was trying to explain this place to my kids the other day. Now I can show them. My dad took me there when I was 12 a few times in like 82... So this was perfect.
Does anyone remember the Ride sorta stuck in a hallway in back of the Orient Express Spook House called the "Mikia" I know that I spelled it wrong. I was young, but if I can remember You sat on a Swing and it rocked, but everything in the room turned upside down. It was weird, but fun. Please tell Me that someone else remembers this Ride
I loved the Palace, my friends Dad owned the snack bar and between that and being a kid, I was there a lot. we would beg our Dad to take us to Asbury every Friday and Saturday night
Aw, man! This was way after we stopped going (1966 or so--I was just a little kid), but what a blast to the past. Thanks for this vid. Yeah, it is a sad, sad story of what's happened with Asbury. Save Tillie!!!
i wish it was still around..i never got to go there. :( first time i went to asbury was a little while after the building was torn down.

Yeah, there was a tiny walk thru funhouse behind the orient express in the late 60s/early 70s that became an electronic poker room.
