I drive a 135i same tt engine as the 335i but a lighter car,its a sub for the cayman s because its a cheaper car, I have test driven a cayman s hard up and down gears trust me its no slouch,a sport chrono equiped car is good for 60mph in 4.8secs and it will climb over 177 mph if you got the balls and the road with virtually no roll at the corners.

Are you guys joking? A stock 335i gives almost identical straight line performance to the Cayman S (0-60 and 1/4 mile times). Why are you surprised by this video? The Cayman S is NOT being compared to the M3. The E90 M3 is faster than the 911S, let alone the Caymans. Obviously, the Cayman is going to kill the 335i on a track, but that's not what this video is showing. Chip the 355i for $2K and it's faster (12 flat 1/4 mile) than all the Porsches except the 911 turbo and GT's.

However, that doesn't mean Porsche can get away with the lousy facelifts and premium pricing without giving the driver more power than the competition. I realize the value and originality of a Porsche, but they are pricey and this video is comparing straight line performance. The Cayman S is one of the best handling cars EVER BUILT. Period. Not the fastest in either top end or 0-60, but in terms of overall balance it is one of the best. I have 14000 miles on mine and couln't be happier. Best 66k I ever spent.

Who cares, the BMW is running tiny turbos that only charge 3 cylinders at a time. Its not a high boost application, the purpose of it was to make the car feel N/A ( like a small-medium size V8), which it absolutely does. The engine is a cracker, and was voted engine of the year for 3000cc and under. Now wheres the award for the Cockster?

Plus the Cockster is $20k more.

Sorry, but its much easier to make the 335i 1 second quicker over the 1/4 mile then it is the Gayman S. 1300 bucks with a vishnu procede V2, and the 335i runs 12.3 secs @ 117mph. thats pretty much quicker then any porsche bar a 997 GT3 and Turbo (GT2 aswell).

Bottom line youll have spent 45k max, where as a stock Cayman is in the 60s. Put another 10-15k into the Cayman to get it into the mid 12s, and your look at nearly 80 large all up.

In the states, you can buy a Gayman S for around $60k, while a base Carrera is in the 80s... not particularily expensive when you consider in countries like australia, south africa, asian countries such as singapore, china these two cars would cost 130k and 200k respectively.

Even in Australia, if you dish out 130k ( you could buy a decked out 997 turbo cab for that in the states) for a Gayman S, youd still be considered to be driving the poor mans variant

340 newton metres? thats like braging about beating a Prius in a drag race. A procede V2 335i has 550-600nm at 1300rpm-600rpm and 430hp @ 6800rpm. A stock 335i dynoes 295rwhp or 340hp at the flywheel, and 460nm. Considering bmw claims 302bhp and 400nm, you can see how conservative the claims are, mainly because they did not want to steal the E46 M3s "top dog" spot when the 335i was released.

The other you thing have to consider is the 335i has an open Diff, versus the cayman S LSD. Chuck in a procede V2 ( 430hp), and a LSD, and youll have a very low 12 second 50grand car.

I own both the bi turbo BMW e90 335i and cayman s and thought i'd let you know the cayman s is faster o to 60 and go's on to 178 mph top speed in my 335i gives up at 153mph and it all depends on the driver if he's willing to go to the limit , the cayman s is also far superior around the bends and lapped the nurburgring faster both the new v8 m3 and 911 997 3.6.

the bmw with PROcede is increadibly powerful and besides the clayman is $58900 to the 335i with a price tag of $50000 so u take the sports package on the bmw with procede $51365 will beat the cayman every time and is still cheaper!

I find the 335i incredibly appealing...

BMW 335 0 - 60 is 4.8 and its handeling is amazing..50/50 weight distribution...besides BMWs stats arent their full output potential...the numbers BMW gives are always less than what it can actually do... thats a fact. Its not like it was racin' a real porche guys....BMW also has amazing torque and is set up very well

No way a stock 335i is faster than a Cayman S unless the Cayman S driver is loafing it. The Cayman S in stock form routinely runs 4.8 0-60 and 13.2 1/4 mile and that is just in a straight line, go into the corners and the Cayman will eat the 335i alive. Look at how a stock 335 goes against an M5 off the mark and then on the roll. Type in 335 vs M5, and youll see a new m5 having seriously difficulties ( and in a 3rd or 4th gear roll actually lose to a 335)

BMW data is conservative crap. Firstly a 335i weighs 1550kg. puts out aroun 330bhp stock ( not the 300 claimed) or 290bhp atw, aswell as around 30-40lbs more then claimed. Stock it will run 4.8 secs to 60 and as low as 13.3 secs of a standing 1/4 mile. On the roll, it will pull away from a cayman S

That´s just the raw statistics. Then driver skills, urge to dragrace etc etc comes into play. And this is in a straight line. As soon as these cars hit serious curves the BMW is just another -albeit nice - sedan. The Cayman a sportscar.

Porsche might be overpriced, but there is a reason why they claim "there is no substitute" :)

No doubt Porsche are superior sports cars overall. However the official acceleration figures given by BMW for the 335i are conservative. I've seen 0-60 in 4.9s for a stock 335i. However you are right, a Cayman S (or even a Boxster S) around a curve is truly impressive.

A 335 will drill a Cayman S on the roll. Ofcourse a G35 would lose to a 335, a G35 will usually pull 14.5 over a 1/4 mile to a 335s 13.5. No contest really. I never really understood why people think G35s are quick, after driving plenty, they are nothing special in a straight line. They sound nice though.

You´re right. The Cayman is actually FASTER than the 911 in the corners. The Cayman is also a better car when it comes to balance than the 911, but for political reasons Porsche dont want to make the Cayman as powerful as the 911. It´s a pity, cuz the car deserves a lot more than 295BHP.

no it didnt, the Z4 M has near 50/50 weight distribution as well, ALL BMWs DO. The reason the 335 won was due to its torque.
