@honourhandsome exactly what I was thinking... hook knife that little black band... and be done with it... but it turned out safe this way too. blue 111s D-something or other
if ur flying a canopy like that, a little problem can be easily rectified and shouldnt bother u that much, if it does well u shouldnt be jumping it... so nice work, good to see a good canopy pilot.

@ 0Skydiver0, I was definitely assessing all the time my altitude, traffic and where the landing area was, the canopy was flying perfectly and the knot allowed about a 1/2 of normal full flight from half brak to full drive! so approx 1/4 brakes. I took a wrap on the opposite side to keep the tail symmetrical when i rear risered the landing..
you have a hook knife, you could have cut the elastic band where your break locked

I'm curious as to know why you put the rings down on your risers BEFORE you undo your RDS ?!

did you consider cutting the elastic with your hook knife? Nice job though.

You walked away so you obviously made the correct choice, on a Velocity 79 I think I would have cut away, you have bigger balls than me :-)
Thanks for sharing.

Good choice! I definitely would've done rears as well. Stalls hurt ( I know :)) but the Comp 79 has a nice rear riser feel... so... nicely done!

@piahenzi i agree! and he had grass too so pushing it to stall is no worries
