These guys volunteered to serve in the Corps not for the money, BUT FOR THE DIVINE PRIVILEGE OF SERVING THE COUNTRY. They ask not for higher salaries and benefits, all they ask is better clothing and equipment so they can better fight for you and me, so we could all peaceably sleep at night while they deal with death and violence in far flung mountains. If you can't admire them, at least respect them. They may be poorly equipped for now, but they MAKE DO with what the gov't gives them. Peace!

Unlike Vietnam, the Philippines is an archipelago with thousands of small islands to control. It's a tactical and logistical nightmare both to us and any would-be invader. So the NVA tactic cannot always be successful here. Even if we have a first-class armed force, we still cant hope of winning. Taiwan never hopes for winning a war with the PRC, they have a first-class military. All we have to do is stand, fight, kill as many as we can, and hope for help to come from the US or any other ally.
well at least we don't really have to worry about the prospect of a full blown war with a first world army.... as you said and i agree that the US will come to help us, for now lets just solve the COIN problems with the NPA,ASG,MILF, etc. in which case our AFP is the superior force.... with a little help from the US ;) hehe

These guys volunteered to serve in the Corps not for the money, BUT FOR THE DIVINE PRIVILEGE OF SERVING THE COUNTRY. They ask not for higher salaries and benefits, all they ask is better clothing and equipment so they can better fight for you and me, so we could all peaceably sleep at night while they deal with death and violence in far flung mountains. If you can't admire them, at least respect them. They may be poorly equipped for now, but they MAKE DO with what the gov't gives them. Peace!

@lgf28 i said unarmed combat..its believed that most prisoners in world war 2 didnt make it alive because lack of hand to hand combat only the special forces groups were able to escape and still make it back alive. this is because Abu sayaff helds prisoners such as Military personels and media so the army has to trained to be able to escape and make it back alive instead of getting beheaded.

F-8 crusaders yung mga multi role jet fighters na inorder ni Marcos noong 1977 at tinanggal sa serbisyo noong 1988 type mo sa wikipedia yung F-8 crusaders. during those times yun ang mas hi - tech pa sa F-5 pero maiksi lang kasi ng service life span nya sa PAF.

i am a tax payer, kung malalaan lang sana ng maayos ang tax to the exact purpose halimbawa na ang mga marines. kahit doblehin pa tax ko ok lang. i am willing to pay taxes basta magagamit lang sa dapat pag gamitan. to you marine corps, i salute you sir! you are all included in my prayers... i always pray for your safety...

i see where your going and i too sometimes get pissed at those problems....but i keep myself optimistic in the hope that all these problems is just a really long phase....in our country's history... and about first world army... maybe if our AFP does something similar to what the NVA did in Vietnam we might have a chance.. hehe but that just my 2 cents anyway

Unlike Vietnam, the Philippines is an archipelago with thousands of small islands to control. It's a tactical and logistical nightmare both to us and any would-be invader. So the NVA tactic cannot always be successful here. Even if we have a first-class armed force, we still cant hope of winning. Taiwan never hopes for winning a war with the PRC, they have a first-class military. All we have to do is stand, fight, kill as many as we can, and hope for help to come from the US or any other ally.

well at least we don't really have to worry about the prospect of a full blown war with a first world army.... as you said and i agree that the US will come to help us, for now lets just solve the COIN problems with the NPA,ASG,MILF, etc. in which case our AFP is the superior force.... with a little help from the US ;) hehe
