Hey there fellow guitar lover, Stevie Wonder fans and music lovers! If you like hearing new musicians and good covers, check out this funky, jammin version from Webster Hall in New York City. Be sure to leave a comment if ya dig it! Thanks for your interest!!
@mrbassman1972 Actually Stevie Wonder wrote the song as payment for Jeff playing on one of his records. BUT before Jeff recorded and released it, Stevie recorded and released it and Jeff sued him. So somewhere there is a fully produced Stevie Wonder record with Jeff Beck playing guitar that never got released. It's really unfortunate.
@mrbassman1972 Actually Stevie wrote & was going to give it to Jeff to record as a Thank you for appearing on Talking Book. Once Stevie's manager/agent heard it he said he had to record it himself. Jeff did still record it while with Carmine Appice & Tim Bogert in BBA.
Wow! It looks like the way to make an incredible song even better is to invite Jeff Beck to join you on stage. This is brilliant in every respect. No one plays better than Jeff. His phrasing is just beautifully insane.
Did anybody know Stevie actually wrote Supersition for Jeff Beck and took it back for himself?! LOL Great to see them back together. Love the song they do together on Talking Book,"Looking for another Love"
I play a Telecaster since I like to do a lot of oblique bending and stuff and I dont like most of the shred-style whammy acrobatics... but there are two players who make me want a trem bar -- Jeff Beck and Reeves Gabrels from Bowie's band.
All of you "know-everything " Gen Xers and Gen Ys, you've probably never heard of what Germany perpetrated during this period of history. I won't waste my time in discussing it, as I feel you'd simply reject any such information as being from some old dinosaur who wouldn't know anything.
in germany the concert was shown in the middle of the night, and they cut many parts of this awesome concert off. german tv is so lame. showing this fucking stupid "reality tv" the hole day, but awesome musicians and their hall of fame concert not. its embarassing, fuck you german tv...
@Munx2k7: Do you own a dictionary? You may want to use it and increase your vocabulary just a bit so when you have another hissy fit you don't look quite so much like a spoiled brat with poor grammar.
Waaa!!!!! I want the world to work my way waaaa!!!!
@abbyguy so you are from canada, i guess english is your native language, or maybe french? well it isnt my native language. iam looking forward to see your german skills. not everybody is lucky, to be born and raised in a country, where you speak a universal language...
@Munx2k7 : I was refering to your tirade about it not being shown on a TV station you approved of and then decided to use expetives in place of educated dialogue. It has nothing to do with where I was born - although you may want to make that the issue - it has everything to do with your little temper tantrum. Grow up.
@abbyguy aah. well its my opinion and i use the words i want. put your "educated dialogue" in some place, where the sun is never shining. are you an ex or still member of Jehovah's Witnesses"? i hate this bunch of idiots, knocking at your door and asking you to "talk about god" . . .
@Munx2k7 : Thank you for not swearing it makes for a much better dialogue. For the record I was but am not now a JW and dislike them kocking at my door as much as you do.
@Munx2k7 I don't know how Clapton could have topped what Beck did. That was awesome, it reminds me of Prince doing the solo on While My Guitar Gently Weeps at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Jeff and Stevie; makes sense. Jeff is respectful but Stevie allows him to have some fun. 'Just cool all 'way 'round. For you young guns, Jeff did the tune back in the 70's with some of the Fudge kids.
I may possibly be an idiot but, SRV' S one track mind of blues legend licks do not compare with the absolute mastery of the guitar by Jeff Beck. Put that in your f'ing pipe and smoke it!!!
Sad that Jeff has to play the song he was cheated out of. Stevie wrote this song for him, payment for playing on Talking Books, but recorded and released it first. Still love them both though.
@LuneyTune72 But in return, Stevie wrote "Cause We've Ended as Lovers" for him, which is now Beck's most recognizable and one of the most beautiful guitar instrumentals of all time. Not a bad trade since Jeff thinks the world of Stevie :)
STEVIE ACTUALLY WROTE THIS FOR JEFF TOO! IT WAS A THANK YOU FOR JEFFS HELP ON TALKING BOOK.JEFF DID THIS SONG WITH BBA BEFORE STEVIE DECIDED TO RELEASE HIS OWN VERSION! DAMN WHAT A TOTAL TREAT THIS IS! THANKS SO MUCH FOR POSTING THIS GEM!!!!
This is retarded. Musically Jeff was given no space to do his thing. No room in the sonic space for a solo or anything because it was all taken up by horns and choir.
I read somewhere that Beck said that when you cover a Stevie Wonder song, it will never sound as good as Stevie's original version. However, if Stevie covers YOUR song, it will sound better than your original. Pretty damn cool.
@AbrahamVanHasselhoff yeah..my brother said that he always felt if Jesus would come down here and make music, it would sound like Stevie Wonder. Pretty high praise indeed, no?
