Spa rest the best track, and to me should call 'THE TRACK'. Unlucked indeed, many circuit are now reducts in kart tracks. The F1 should be risk, hight speed and spectacolous, true spectacolous. And circuit longer between 6-7 9-10 km. The cars are now very, incredible seife, only an wrong build circuit can put risk for the security of drivers. And Engine V10! at unanimum decision...
@ANDYB1478 It would be interresting if they brought back the V12 engines, because they do produce a lot of power, but they are much bigger then a V8 and V10. So the cars would make the fast tracks seem faster and the slow tracks seem slower because of the added weight and power. Also, they wouldn't be able to use the big defuser on the back because of the bigger engine, making the car more lively. The only drawback is the higher cost of the engines...
Look at the entry to the bus stop, he runs over the kerb and takes the pin at the apex... I would love to see the following lap, I;m sure it's not there! :-D
I can't believe he was tipping Schumacher for the title the Williams was a much better car that year. Even Schumacher in his prime couldn't have made the deficit up on that awesome Williams.
villeneuve`s a nascar fuck. michael deserved 1997 championship title so much more than that wanker jacques , for rides like in 1997 spa-franchorcamps and monte carlo
@indauja12 if it helps, what exactly has Jacques done since 1997? jack shit. Jacques only won the title that year being with Williams when they had their short dominance in F1.
But Schumi DID ram himself into Jacques which was awfully similar to what he did to Damon Hill years earlier.
Hi MSx91: Michael and Ayrton was 1991 the onliest who drove flat out in eau rouge and the last corner before busstop. The telemetry dates was very clearly. @tubeyouviewer1984 O you mean just the shark fin design... They may just have that extra piece of material running through the rear wing I dont think it will be a problem as long as it doesn't stall the air to the rear wing.
That's what Schumacher is known for though. He's got an incredible feel for the "limit" and can make more corrections in mid-corner than most other drivers...
@GELisherenotqueer - surely not, really? honestly, how about you tell me what was so great about the old bus stop? it was just another corner, nobody could overtake there, nothing interesting ever happened there.
i remember vividly in the early-2000s, people were whinging about the bus stop, wanting it to be changed. along comes 2004 and they give us the new bus stop which gave us overtaking and incidents. but no, we want to old one back... oh my god, i just don't understand nostalgia.
@FormulaOneFan4Eva It's true. Some are stuck thinking old things are always better. F1 has worked to improve tracks over the years. And it's worked; I think the whole track is better now, just because of the new bus stop.
I think he never wanted to come back. He's retired, no longer has to risk his life in a racecar, and then he would replace another driver crashed heavily the weekend before?? It would be like asking Nigel Mansell "Hey, Ayrton died when crashing our car, wanna replace him?"

Sure, I think that's true for all kinds of athletes. There's lots of athletes that have retired while they've still been in their prime more or less but after a while the positive of not having to get up early in the morning to practice etc has been outweighed by the fact that they miss competing and having a goal to aim for so they change their mind and make a comeback. If you're e.g. a football player you can always play on a lower level but no racing compares to F1.
how does he get that close to the cones?! i have a go-kart that would go no higher than 40 and i wouldnt do that! however the front and rear tires on it are different width so its harder to corner :)

Spa '97 was the first F1 I ever saw at the age of 9 and have been hooked ever since. That Ferrari was a beaut. I can't decide between the '97 Ferrari and the '05 in looks.
Pininfarina is right though, just listen to that beast singing at the flat out.
You have to love that whole V10 era. They sound amazing. Aerodynamical and mechanical grip were ALOT different in the 90's! Things were sketchy. Aryton Senna used to drift. Had SKILL. :]
Yeah, Ferrari were the first team to have 7 gears. They started that in the late 80's/ early 90's because they also introduced the paddle shift system to F1.
haha i know, well Marlboro still have rights to Ferrari livery but yer...not that i condone smoking but F1 is not F1 anymore. Someone needs to overthrow Bernie and Max. Let FOTA run :D
Michael would have been far more dominant without driver aids. Also if slick tires were allowed during the entire length of his career as opposed to just a few, then his dominance would have been even more so, he was always ultra fit and was least effected by the massive g-load that F1 cars used to achieve with slicks. It was almost impossible he wouldn't even have a bead of sweat on him after a race when other drivers on the podium were close to total exhaustion
since all the drivers always had the same conditions i cant agree. i mean he was absolutely dominating, got the title year after year. driver aids dont make you a better driver, an average driver finds maybe a 1/10 in some corner, but a good driver finds at least 2/10 then because of driver aids. but you cannot compare anybody to him, his not even human his brain is just a 4.4L v16 engine with a chipped CPU brother believe me i know what im saying i saw it !!! ;-P
I'd be afraid of something crossing like the track down there ahead of me, oh shoot, its a kitty..... Or worse yet a course worker, oh man I've seen em stretched...
Those cars do pull amaaaazingly hard dont they, oh man, that would take some getting used to. I have a great deal of the driver mechanics in my mind, but man thats gotta make you swallow your tongue till you get used to it. oh my...
this is how u drive an f1 car on the raged edge not consrvativly like wht they say today when u go out on the track u drive throw it around the track an if u break it after the race so be it
Part of the problemtoday is that when the FIA got rid of slicks the cars were harder to slide and push like Schumacher is doing here. That will be fixed for this season at last.
The second is the rules on engines and gearboxes having to last for more than one race, so they have to be more sympathetic to the cars mechanics now as well.
Even Schumacher, after the rule changes, conserved the car whenever he could.
is it just me or do the tires look really tiny? also, it looks like a junior formula car. Maybe like a Formula Renault. But the engine noise is pretty good.
Depends mate, they're only limited by the track mostly. Generally speaking theres not a track where they have to go faster then 320kph (200mph) in the last few years. All lap times are improved by braking, acceleration and mostly conering speed. I think it was Honda in 2003 took their car onto a salt plain in Nevada and got it to 460kph in race spec but that was just for the cameras more then anything.
According with the F1 official page, in the Kemmel straight the cars reach the 330 km/h, so, the F310 B maybe reach that speed, or more, it had a V10 engine, without RPM limiter.
Love the way the old cars used to move around. So much more skill.

Had SKILL. :]

7gears???
pascali091 2 years ago
Yeah, Ferrari were the first team to have 7 gears. They started that in the late 80's/ early 90's because they also introduced the paddle shift system to F1.
Cool, eh
thrillathakilla 2 years ago 2
Looking back to the late-90's car, I find them so beatiful, much more than today's car.

Great vid. Really disappointing the bus stop chicane was changed. The cars look so good in '97, especially the Ferrari.

HO1HUM 2 years ago 3
i know did you see nico rosberg on the podium he looked like he was about to die
thechickenmaster299 2 years ago
since all the drivers always had the same conditions i cant agree. i mean he was absolutely dominating, got the title year after year. driver aids dont make you a better driver, an average driver finds maybe a 1/10 in some corner, but a good driver finds at least 2/10 then because of driver aids. but you cannot compare anybody to him, his not even human his brain is just a 4.4L v16 engine with a chipped CPU brother believe me i know what im saying i saw it !!! ;-P

He's on the limit all the time, this is what makes him better then anyone else!

I'd be afraid of something crossing like the track down there ahead of me, oh shoot, its a kitty..... Or worse yet a course worker, oh man I've seen em stretched...
Those cars do pull amaaaazingly hard dont they, oh man, that would take some getting used to. I have a great deal of the driver mechanics in my mind, but man thats gotta make you swallow your tongue till you get used to it. oh my...

hailsatanfuck 3 years ago 9
this is how u drive an f1 car on the raged edge not consrvativly like wht they say today when u go out on the track u drive throw it around the track an if u break it after the race so be it
LLOYDIE710 3 years ago 4
Part of the problemtoday is that when the FIA got rid of slicks the cars were harder to slide and push like Schumacher is doing here. That will be fixed for this season at last.
The second is the rules on engines and gearboxes having to last for more than one race, so they have to be more sympathetic to the cars mechanics now as well.
Even Schumacher, after the rule changes, conserved the car whenever he could.

is it just me or do the tires look really tiny? also, it looks like a junior formula car. Maybe like a Formula Renault. But the engine noise is pretty good.
GTRF1V8 3 years ago
It's because in 1997 the cars were 20cm wider than in 1998 and after. The tires just look tinyer because the car is bigger.

what is the top speed of that car
piercem26 3 years ago
Depends mate, they're only limited by the track mostly. Generally speaking theres not a track where they have to go faster then 320kph (200mph) in the last few years. All lap times are improved by braking, acceleration and mostly conering speed. I think it was Honda in 2003 took their car onto a salt plain in Nevada and got it to 460kph in race spec but that was just for the cameras more then anything.
gnarkillkicksass 3 years ago 2
there is one track they go faster than 200,its indianapolis. i was just wondering how fast the car went on the straights in that vid.
piercem26 3 years ago
According with the F1 official page, in the Kemmel straight the cars reach the 330 km/h, so, the F310 B maybe reach that speed, or more, it had a V10 engine, without RPM limiter.
MSx91 3 years ago
dude...in monza f1 cars reach nearly 350kph...
aaqib92 3 years ago
Yes, but he were asking about the top speed in Spa-Francorchamps. In Monza, is clearly higher than here.
