Tiguan is also AWD, Q5 is also AWD, even a Cayenne is AWD, and it doesnt mean they are real off roader. They are just good Soft Off Roaders, but a real off roader in this test is the Grand Vitara, since it really has the body on frame chassis and real low range gear box.
@KieranTheresa No it doesn't. No Subi has a locking diff. The Subaru has "VDC" Vehicle Dynamics Control......it uses the ABS system to stop the spinning tire and allows the power to go to the one with traction.
Suzuki has the best off road capabilities by far and is the only vehicle in this class to have a 4L diff lock,the Vitara is a real 4wd drive,although ground clearance in an issue,nothing $1500 bucks wont fix,forester has a low range gear but only on the manual....
Suzuki Grand Vitara is the only real 4x4 there, with it's low range gearbox. Forester is obviously doesn't fall behind with its famous AWD. And the VW 4-motion system should be good, as it probably uses the Audi's Quattro system. The rest is just front wheel drive cars with a engageable rear wheels

They all suck offroad except for the Volkswagen Tiguan which rocks if it's the off road version.
Anyway, all those Mitsubishi, Subaru, Honda, Suzuki will all get destroyed off road if they are compared with the Volkswagen Touareg.

@maxou5757 mmm rav4 rules the road sticks like glue,but suzki is very good off road as good as a touareg

@machoboy68
in this specific test, im pretty sure the subaru would win.
CX-7 would have higher marks in other categories than offraoding.
