My math teacher played this over the classroom intercom today... then the assistant principal walked in, paused, listened for a sec, then started dancing....
OMG, this was the #1 song when I was born..... I was hoping it was something that I knew & that was very good that I liked. (I am glad this video poped up when I looked into what was the #1 song at the time I was born) :-) Interesting Song LOL!!!!!! I am glad I heard it just now.
I hate to say it, but, I clearly remember begging my mom into buying this record for me - I was 9 years old and thought he was the coolest dude in California!! It was a much simpler time in 1977... LOL!!!
Hate to say it but this is a much better version. More hip. I know somebody named Jill maybe i should approach her singing this to get her to no me better. Does that sound corny?
@TheRichboy44 You're welcome!! And look at it this way-even if she's not interested that way-you may end up with a really great friend!! Good luck-and let us know how it works!! :-)
This is a trip.... from 1977. Still have the album! Great remake, though I still prefer the original, this was Number One during my lifetime, and triggers pretty strong memories.
This was the first 45 i ever bought when i was 8 years old. I also thought it was about Jill Monroe of Charlie's angels, a show i was obsessed with. I got the whole album for Christmas that year, but threw it out when i was a 80's metal head teenager out of fear that my friends would see me with an album from a singer geared toward 11 year-old girls.
When the remake was out, the Jill I thought of, was, of course, Jill Munroe, of 'Charlie's angels.' Billboard's 470th #1 hit of the rock era. God bless! Hugs to you, for postin' it. BTW, I'm NOT gay!
People, please!!! i am a child of the 70's so I grew up listening to this music----Today's 'teen' pop singers are SOOOOO overrated...in the 70's, computers didn't CHANGE the actual voices into a synth sound. This is why, Justin beiber and others will NEVER be such stars!!!
@kca365 psh, you WISH bieber was better! even as an old guy shaun cassidy is better than him!!! shaun cassidy sounds like a dude, not a girl... lol!!!!!!!!!!! :P
I didn't have a huge, mega-crush on him, but I liked him enough to have his poster on my wall :) I also liked his songs, and watching him on "The Hardy Boys."
First time listening to this one, and it's already a favourite of mine. No, it's not just because I found out my name is in this song, I just really like 70's music. :D Morning Girl is the one I listen to the most by Shaun, and I can't count how many of David's songs I've listened to over my eighteen years but 70's music will always be the best! Besides Celtic music.
@JasonECI Original version was cut by The Crystals in 1963. There's been many others that covered it, you might be thinking of an all-girl group called The Donnas that covered it in 1996.
