  • 1:57 Poor Mac had to see that.

  • 1:17 Doc Louis: Hey Mac, press 1 + 2!!!

    Little Mac: No thanks

  • Rhinox will fuck you up. No contest.

  • You gotta have a little admiration for this guy, even though he is getting beat up he still taunts you

  • so... dwarfs are Canadian ancestors?

  • NEEDA HUG???

  • I like how he stands with that angry look.

  • his chest hair resembles a maple leaf tree, how neato :D

  • Cro Cop got his ass beat by this guy last night, that is all.

  • i had such a hard time with him but i did it T.T

  • It says in the SNES Super Punch Out Manual that he's from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, yet in the billing in the Wii Version, he's from Salmon Arm, British Columbia, Canada. WTF?

  • Ova 9000 people need a hug?!

  • more like a guy from alaska rather than a canadian

  • @jakzvid Maybe he's from a Canadian town close to Alaska.

  • Im canadian and i find Bear Hugger funny, hes a manifestation of all the stereotypes of our country and most dads in our country look like him

  • how come Bear Hugger and King Hippo are equally as fat, but Bear Hugger can get up on his feet again while King Hippo cant? they do roughly the same damage and have almost the same amount of health too.

  • Problems:

    1: We dont where overalls

    2: Were not obese

3: We don't say "TIMBER!" when we fall.

4: We only cut down trees on occasion

5: We don't see fish when were hurt

6: We don't have chipmunks as pets.

  • @PowerForward888

what are you complaining for, you got scott pilgrim as your mascots, your fucking awesome!

  • @PowerForward888 You have to be high if you're actually taking it seriously.

  • His chest hair is in the shape of a pine tree. Uhh Nintendo, canadians don't look like their country!

  • im a bear!

    fave bear hugger line

  • There's no way Little Mac could be 5' 7" and weigh 107 lbs!!

  • @DaveJ721 I'm 5' 8'' and weigh 110. It's not unrealistic, though he does have a bit too much muscle to be that light.

  • intro: meet bear hugger he is a lumberjack who loves to drink maple syrup he also is freinds with a bear wuch helps him train for boxing, and from all that good training he has powerful attacks, will little mac beable to knock him down before bear hugger does the same to him?

  • @ColericManectric I don't agree with stereotypes or anything, but It's pretty funny how you just said "eh" while denouncing Canadian stereotypes.

  • @jakjaknix we do say "eh" just not after every sentance usually it means something liek "do you agree with me?" or something like that

  • I swear, we canadians aren't speaking like this. Why do hosers like thoe conceptors imagine us like this, eh?

  • @ColericManectric pplus bear hugger drinks maple syrup i don't think a single canadian does that i should know im canadian

  • A relative of yours, Wario?

  • King Hippo VS Bear Hugger in an eating contest

  • i should hate this guy. i do hate this but i find him hilarious to beat up. and i love his music. i like it even more when your getting up, it SOOOOO EPIC

  • Comment removed

  • I used to get stuck on this guy so much on the snes version

  • Let it be known british columbians ARE NOT LIKE THIS.

It's more like toronto, but hell, thats to be expected, they gave us beiber. so they suck by default.

  • "Did he even land a punch?"

Wow, Doc, you sure are blind.

  • Are Canadians from British Columbia like this Bear Hugger???

  • Comment removed

  • Ah canadian stereotypes

SO much better then mexican stereotypes

  • @TheSora377 Less offensive too

  • Does he have a cousin American Bear Hugger?

  • This guy thinks Mac is a bear, OMG

  • No wonder his name is Bear Hugger, he loves them!

  • he reminds me of crazy dave from Plants vs zombies

  • lol, his chest hair is shaped like a pine tree.

  • I don't see what's so bad about stereotyping Canadians as Bear Hugger. He's overweight, yes, but he looks cool to hang out with. He's my favorite character.

  • Lol, timber!!!!

  • Your really bad kid

  • ndjbfd

  • 2:45 how do you burp with Maple Syrup?

  • Hoser? Doesn't he mean "Hossier"? (pronounced "HUU-shehr")

  • @50percentGrey Ot's a canadian stereotype... A hoser is an insult...

  • I love it when Bear Hugger says; Timber when he falls down

  • who wouldn't want to be hugged by bear huuger

  • hahaha ! I'm french canadian from quebec and i have to say, though i don't think i ever saw someone drinking mapple syrup in my country, i do take ENORMOUS breakfast....

  • I like how his chest hair is pine tree, anybody else notice that.

  • His song reminded me of "PLAY THAT FUCKIN' FIDDLE MUMBO!"

  • Man, I wish a guy from the Québec province should have been in the game. I'm from there ^^

  • @1ZeroTwo64 I'm sure there are plenty of un-tapped sterotypes for a sequel XD

  • @1ZeroTwo64 Hehehe so i am! And i do take that kind of breakfast too when i can.. XD

  • @HUDJ0679790 Mais je prend pas de crêpe pour djeuner moi. Mais quand même, c'est une tradition canadienne quoi? ^^

  • did anyone elce catch the hoser comment or was it just me?

  • I think it awesome that the guy who voiced Bear Hugger is the same guy who voice M.Bison in the street fighter cartoons...

    ...so...

    YESH! THIS IS DELICIOUS!!!

  • if he were a true canadian, he would be fly-fishing instead of boxing

  • What. The. Fuck. Canada.

  • I am getting diabetes just by watching him drink all that syrup in the beginning!

  • The best part about all of this; the character, the game, this video, and these comments are...well...I'm FROM Salmon Arm. Yes, it's a real town, and yes, it is a little more on the hick side of things. Not THAT hick, but around the same line. One of the programmers is from there, so he was lucky and got to put our little lake/mountain town on the map. =D

  • @TheLeeserdonk Aww yeah Salmon Arm. I'm sure there's some people in town that could pull off a decent impression...

  • omg bear hugger It is like wario, possibly .... be his FATHER XD

  • I wonder if he weighs more than king hippo?

  • @N001337 well king hippos weight is secret, so idk

  • Comment removed

  • Bear Hugger doesn't have lips. He only has more beard.

  • @RavenFinsternis he looks like Wario.

he has no lips, overalls, and is fat.

just give him a shave, a yellow hat, and a yellow shirt and the similarities will be complete.

  • I'm from Canada as well, and I would say this character is fairly representative. I can actually imagine some people filling this role.

  • OMG HE SAID HOSER! I SAY THAT ALL THE TIME!

    (yes, i am from canada!)

  • @PurpleKirby54 Just curious, but does "hoser" mean anything in particular?

  • it's... uhh, kinda like loser and drunk at the same time.

  • @PurpleKirby54 Oh, I see it... Thanks for the info.

  • @PurpleKirby54 and i fell emmbarest to say bloody e'll, and i'm british.

  • are you saying canadians suck well quess what we dont

  • Oh M. Bison, you've totally let yourself go

  • 1:13 - 1:15

How harsh of Little Mac! He wouldn't let Bear Hugger have a hug. *sob*

  • This guy looks like Zangiefs fat Canadian cousin, instead of wrestling he took up boxing.

  • Zangief was in great shape though he was a little slow.

  • Love it when he falls down ands says, "TIMBER!!!"

  • What the Hell is WRONG with this guy? He's hilarious! XD

  • I LIKE RAW FISH

  • What's that attack called after he says "I'm gonna stomp ya!"? I know it's not a hook or jab, and definitely not an uppercut, but I don't know what it'd be called technically.

  • an overhead, i believe

  • Thank you. ^_^

  • Technically it's an overhand punch, and also illegal in most boxing organizations.

  • Thanks to both of you! ^_^

  • overhead punch @Mewtoo22

  • WE CANADIANS RULE EH!

  • I bet he's one of the nicest of the boxers outside of the ring.

  • I have a relitive in Canada and japan

  • bear hugger= maxima + Jimmy McLarnin

  • wow hes grown hair on his face and chest but none on his head!

  • contender has a one punch knock down weak spot,

whenever he does the 0:43 thing with his face, starpunch him,, that will knock him down, no matter how many stars you have, try it! i dont have a capture device though, do you have to try it yourself

  • Maple syrup is definitely delicious, but I wouldn't want to drink it and get sick as its so rich.

  • is he after honda

  • I love the canadian stereotype lmfao. Im canadian and im nothing like this. xD

  • Four contestants of The Biggest Loser were fat as Bear Hugger, thus weighing over 400 pounds. They include Daniel Wright, Shay Sorrells, Rudy Pauls, and Sean Algaier.

  • Having gotten the game since first commenting 3 months ago, I can say Bear Hugger is a fun fight. I like the fact you can counter all his punches. That, and I do love the yell of "Salmon arm!"

  • Man Bear Hugger just seems to be having a lot of fun during the fight (especially when he knocks you down :D )

  • this game is awesome

  • YESH!

    Bear Hugger's breakfast IS DELICIOUS!!!

  • I remember when i was a kid i would keep hiting him in the stomach and he kept taunting me.

  • i wonder if anyone's ever died in the wvba

    i mean

look at bear hugger, seems like he could have a heart attack at any second

  • have you not seen king hippo. he's so fat his blubber is leaking out his belly button, that why he puts a bandage there

  • @zunevsipod1 I don't see why. Drinking maple syrup right out of the jug seems perfectly healthy to me.

  • I dunno, he is also very strong, so he likely also quite fit, just fat :D

  • @CamTheKitty

    very well

  • @zunevsipod1

Well, it never did King Hippo any harm! = P

  • I'm a hugger not a fighter! Step off eh?

  • I want this soooo bad but i don't got no money :(

  • if you have a wii you could just softmod it to play on usb drives

  • So glad I got this game.

  • ROUND 2!

    *SMACK* 1! 2! 3! 4! 5! *counter*

  • Punch Out's about humourous stereotypes -- I'm Canadian too... and they seem to have confused "Canadian" with "Pirate"!

The tuke for Champion Defence was a nice touch though. Bear Hugger went from 'nasty kinda backwoods hick' in previous Punch Outs to 'only sorta nasty hick who'd be fun to hang out with'.

    His breakfast rocks.

  • Well, they inserted some of the more well- known Canadian stereotypes in it, too (i.e. having him call Mac "Hoser").

In Super Punch Out he came across as a mean bully, but in this he comes across as a fun, goofy guy.

  • I liked it in Super Punch Out when he spiraled like a football when you knocked him down.

  • The people who made this version are Canadian. They even said this was making fun of their selves. Nintendo did do a lot of things with this game, but Next level games did most of the stuff.

  • @IronPants Ah, Dude you're Canadian to?

Funny thing, I never found Bear Hugger hand an accent till someone told me :P

  • @IronPants he may not be a true canadian, but he may be from america, but lives in canada

  • @IronPants You mean tuque.

    Or toque.

Depends on if you're French or not.

  • so that's how americains view canadians... im saying that because im canadian!

  • No that's how we view your hillbillies, apperently.I never knew what canadian hillbillies were like...until now.

  • He is a stereotypical hoser. In fact, he fits the hoser stereotype almost perfectly.

  • Intro: Meet Bear Hugger, from Salmon Arm, British Columbia, Canada. In the morning he eats a FULL breakfast. He cuts down every tree in sight so there's enough firewood to last 3 winters. And when bears attack, he's not afraid, because the bear is just training him for his fights in the ring. Can Little Mac cut this country beast down to size.

  • ....Those are the SEXIEST double D tits I ever saw.

  • Am I alone in thinking that Doc Louis looks like an older Fat Albert with a mustache?

  • Bear Hugger is 440 Lbs.

    King Hippo is ???

Not too sure which is more...

  • here's a bit of help:

    Hippo never gets up.

    Hugger does.

    Hippo weighs more.

  • TIMBEEEEER!

  • i think hes king hippos brother!!

and hes my favorite to face bear hugger is

  • either that or an in-law

  • Im a Lumberjack and Im ok. I sleep all night and I work all day

  • Hes a Lumberjack and Hes ok. He sleeps all night and he works all day

  • i don't know who is the fattest, King Hippo or Bear Hugger!

  • Timber! Yeah, hah, let's dance! Now I have the strength, hm, of a bear, hm, oh thas good I guess-ZZZ....

  • I hope bear hugger has a good dentist, you kept hitting him in the teeth.

  • He won't NEED a dentist when little mac is done with him.

  • HOSER!

  • Wow, I remember him in Super Punch-Out!! and he's funny.

  • The amazing thing? There IS a Salmon Arm, British Columbia. I have a friend from there.

  • Screw you, Canada is awesome.

  • 1:57

    I'm going to have nightmares...

  • Fun fact: Bear Hugger was originally planned to appear in the NES version, but since he was far too detailed for the NES to handle, King Hippo took his place instead.

  • he is weaker here and better in the snes version

  • Bear Hugger first appeared in the arcade Super Punch-Out!! which was released in 1985. He made a comeback appearance in the 1994 SNES release of Super Punch-Out!!. He was the first opponent in the 1985 arcade game and the second opponent in the 1994 SNES game. He was immune to body blows in his previous appearances. In this Wii game, he is not immune to body blows. He is more powerful in this game than in the 1994 SNES game but not as powerful as in the 1985 arcade game.

  • *Special 1 hit knock-down*

At the start of the match, hit him in the face for the star. Then, counterpunch his next move for with your star uppercut. The timing for this is important. You must hit "A" as he finishes reeling back for the swing. When you hit A, he should be about 3/4 completely reeled back.If done correctly, you will not only stop his attack. but also knock him down.

  • I Can Find Ways To Earn Stars

  • 1:57

What has been seen cannot be unseen.

  • Im Canadian aswell and to me

    Bear Hugger is hilarious.

Portraying us a lumberjacks, hockey lovers and consuming vast amount of Maple Syrup.

Honestly, I think Bear Hugger must be loaded to afford that much maple syrup, cause it aint cheap.

  • Anyone else notice that at 1:22 when he's down, he's lost a tooth, but when he gets up he has it again?

  • I guess Great Tiger isn't the only boxer with magic powers. Who knew Bear Hugger had the power to regrow lost teeth? :P

  • 3:18 - accidental groin punch. below the belt a bit

  • Ok, let's see where we stand: we faced a frail Frenchman, a traumatized German, a flamboyant dance-boxer, an obese island chief, and a tricky karate-boxer. Now we face...a Canadian hillbilly.

  • And after him an Indian mystic, a Spanish bullfighter, an insane Irishman, a drunk Russian, a Turkish... umm... a Turkish...

...whaddya know, a non-stereotype. (ARE there Turkish stereotypes?)

Then a bodybuilder/surfer and Mike Tyson to round off the cast.

  • I know. Is it me, or is this game full of humorous stereotypes?

  • It's a proud Punch-Out tradition. They just made them more blatant/hilarious here.

  • Yep, not to mention cheating, steroid use, poor sportsmanship, and animal abuse.
