hi, love the vids and all, but I myself don't know what you've missed (never perfectly completed ff9), and i wanna get a perfect save so i don't want to waste time perfectly completing it (without excal 2) to have to complete it all over again (with excal 2). I'm not gonna ask for like some extra vids to show what you had to miss, but a list might be nice :) thx

BTW when i say perfect i don't mean the whole lvl 1 thing, I'm just not that good (aka need power lol)

It would be impossible to get a perfect game in FFIX unless you cheated. In order to get the Excalibur II you would have to miss alot of things you wouldn't be able to go back for. Miss side quests and such. And finding everything else in the game would mean you would miss out on finishing in 12 hours.

Actually all items can be obtained and all sidequests can be completed as well as getting the sword, just requires you to be quick and obviously lots of fmv skipping

How come with every low level video I see Quina has 1hp?.. Is there a purpose for it?.. Or does it just happen from using Phoenix Downs?

@buddieclub1 It's for the Attack 'Limit Glove' which does 9999 damage if Quina is on 1hp.

@buddieclub1 It does has a purpose, There is a blue magic Quina can learn, With 1 hp it will hit 9999, with 2hp or more it'll hit 1.

@thatsgangsta89 You're supposed to get there in less than 12 game hours otherwise It doesn't appear, and no theres no other way to get the Excalibur 2. But his other Ultimate Weapon, Ragnarok is powerful enough to make him do 9999 damage so It's not a HUGE loss.

heres how: play the american version on a ps2, with the playstation settings on fast disc speed and smooth surfaces. and a speedrun guide on gamefaqs.

roughly 3 hours on disk one, four on disk 2, three on disk 3, and 2 on disk four. Disk four just = memoria, should it really shouldn't take that long.

i played it on ps1

but the ps1 runs slower than the ps2 :(

@siggineuer No. It's because his version is a american\canadian version .. and yours is a european version, which runs 1\6th slower.

If you plan to get Excalibur II, you will miss to get Ark as your eidolon, because digging chocograph, and upgrading your chocobo to a Gold Level, will require a huge amount of time, and you will also miss some kinds of magic, auction, items, because of that. But doing that as your saved file number 2 is okay. Because Getting Excalibur II is a Major Rush! hahaha

I'd play for the Story on the First time, then go for any extras on the Second run through.

An Excalibur II run is nearly impossible if it's your first time playing. It's much more difficult than it seems in those vids. In don't know how to skip fmv on a PSP, sorry :/

IT IS possible to be done on the PSP without skipping FMV's. SEE RLOUISW VISEOS. The challenge however is more than difficult. As stated by "Atomos" it requires about 200 hours of real time, not counting the FMVs

I think it's because the game only moves like, 86.7 as fast as any other version. Not sure about the percent, but if the calculations are done currectly, you only would havr like, 10 hours. Or something like that.

Pal version runs 50hz while ntsc runs 60hz.

What/when you're gonna make next? you rule InvincibleGarland. I've completed perfect games (almost/100% perfect) for FFVI, FFVII, FFVIII and FFX. I have PAL version of FFIX so I can't do a E2PG about it. But i've done it without E2, and only E2. But both are impossilbe on same time with PAL version..

Freya's level 22 at this point. Lich is holy weak. Freya's using a Holy weapon with Devil killer (x1.5 damage), MP Attack (x1.5 damage), and holy boost (x1.5 damage)

Congrats on Perfect Game. I have completed a Perfect Game on FF6 (Well, it's really easy), and I say it's rediciously hard to stay at low level, with 1 character alive at end of a battle. And the hardest part of perfect game is Leveling Up. FF7's perfect game is easy, due to you can level up on any point of game, and still have Max stats, but FF6, FF8 or FF9 you MUST stay on Low Level to gain most of stat bonuses. But great vids, and what/when you're gonna make more?

bu one good question sticks out. if you have to get there in that time you obviously can't train which means steiner is at a low level, which means that he wont really do much damage! am i making sence or am i wrong?:S

Steiner is at Level 1, because I need to keep him at low level so I can max stats. That said, he can still do 4-5000 damage easily with the Excalibur II, and 9999 to Holy weak enemies.

That might account for some of it, I also know that he watched my videos as well as Essentia's speedrun which probably helped too. But most of that lead came from being more patient and precise than I was, especially in the last three hours or so, where I pretty much stopped caring.

Heh... if you want a REAL challenge, try to get a perfect save on PAL. It would mean skipping letters and treasures that don't affect anything in your final save, but it might be possible.

Wow. I'm not sure if I could do this. Awesome win for the history books. I have a technical question, I'm replaying the game and I'm at Lindblum on disc 3 and when I try to view an ATE, my screen just goes black and the game stops. Any ideas on what the problem is? :(

Right before an FMV starts, he pauses the game and opens the disc cover/tray, then unpauses. The pause/unpause shaves a few seconds as the game will will load the next part of the game more quickly.
