actually Bob Hope was doing comedy before Mel Brooks, Bob Hope came over from England in the 30's. Woody Allen worked with Mel Brooks on Show of Shows and that was in the 50's but Hope is WAY older and had been established in the business for decades. Allen left Show of Show to do stand-up in NYC then branched off into movies. But Mel...well, he's my friend Stephanie Flax uncle and he was SO after Bob Hope. Mel is funnier though.
