Amazingly modern modulation at 2:41. This is clearly Not an early piece, but a retrospective one, Revision older styles with new-won maturity.

There are problems, though: this a symphony with piano accompaniment, not a piano concerto with Orchester. Maybe this is the reason, why lvb abandoned it.

Strange piece. Hardly Beethoven. Seems like a patchwork of Beethoven et al.

Has anyone considered that this work may have "hung around" possibly movements that were originally written for other concertos and then replaced. No one really knows how a work formulates in a composers mind. For large works opus numbers were only added when the work was finished rather than when movements were written.

Desculpem, mas a obra é tipicamente Beethoviana. Aliás, uma das maiores autoridades em Beethoven, Maynard Solomon, em seu trabalho monumental - "Beethoven" (publicado no Brasil pela Zahar) - menciona claramente a existência de fragmentos e esboços de um Concerto para Piano em Ré Maior, escrito em 1815 e deixado inacabado. O que surpreende é a existência desta gravação. A propósito, Nicholas Cook deve ser o mesmo que escreveu uma monografia sobre a 9a Sinfonia (Cambridge Music Handbooks).

Thank all the Gods that have ever been believed in by anybody that Beethoven finished his 5th piano concerto... Emperor is one of the most powerful concertos or pieces of music I've ever heard..... makes me wanna fight and fuck at the same time... That's what I call emotional music... haha

Yes, this Concerto dates from November 1815! There is an excellent article on this work in The Musical Quarterly, in the Beethoven Bicentennial issue of 1970.

The Beethoven signature rythms are present but overall, the movement sounds anemic. Pra' o meu amigo que escrevou em português. A orquestra soa muito débil. Nem o mesmo Mozart tivesse escrito semelhante obra. Estou de acordo com você que é difícil acreditar que esta obra seja de Beethoven. Falta-lhe jeito! Não acredito que isto seja de Beethoven, pelo menos posterior ao Concerto nr. 5. A linguagem está ao nível do Concerto nr. 2, para pior, e tem inclusivamente tiques mozarteanos e sonoridades de Bona. Onde posso ler a partitura?
