@30Flambeau Bossman; Husker Du broke up the year Green Day were just beginning. Green Day also covered one of Husker Du's songs (drummer Grant Hart's) Don't Want To Know If You Are Lonely...if you get a chance, check out Flip Your Wig or New Day Rising, I'm pretty sure you'll like what you hear...
@boliverful1 I know it's just me and my hilarious humor. I was being twisted you know. Green Day ripped off or was heavily influenced by Husker Du. Either way I like them both -though Husker Du is a bit less polished which I like more. Am I being confusing?
@30Flambeau Fuck, you are a moron. Look at the timeline of rock and roll, you'll see that Husker Du was long broken up well before Green Day were ever around. Think before you open your mouth and let the shit fall out, ok?
Before anybody makes a comment about the jerk who didn't like this video, I want to say that I am that jerk, and that I pressed the dislike button by mistake. (For real.) Great clip.
I skipped out on class too! The way I remember it they asked the band to shorten a song or two and stop playing... The old lady in the audience was out dancing when the Husker's put on an impromptu concert after the show was done taping. It was really early in the morning, but I remember a good size crowd, dough nuts and special export.
Who says the twin cities didnt recognize them? Im from the twin cities and I can tell they were for sure noticed! Also Im pretty sure husker still is a major influence on all the junk indie rockers of today. Get your facts straight before you spout off about something you dont know.
How could the Twin Cities not recognise greatness when they saw it? What an awful place to be from. HD would have been major if they didn't come from lame old Prince town!
I will always remember this song as I got the greatest BJ while it played on 120 minutes on MTV in 1989. I can also see the Campbell Mithun Tower in this video where I currently work. Good times. Good times.
gregs MoM is the one in a few of the videos and your right he is not gay. He is a Chef and so is his wife he has a upscale restrant down town redwing MN called nortons
All the record labels are doing that these days. I come across several muted videos or deleted videos every week now. I know Warners did it to pretty much all Green Day videos. Even other vids that had clips of their songs in the background were completely muted. Dumb fucks. Let us listen to our fucking music! It's an art, not a commodity!
thanks for the post. I can't believe he cut off Husker Du. Then again, I can't believe Husker Du was playing to this crowd. Did you see grandma gettin' down?
WOw...I was another kid skipping class in 9th grade. I got clued in because my dad worked at the Government Center and said there was some band with a funky name that he though he remembered that I liked. He wrote me an absence excuse too after staying through their set!
I cut school in 9th grade, drove downtown with my best friends and was on one of the commercial breaks. My mom was watching and somehow didn't see me. We stuck around for most of the set before making back to Shoreview in time for 4th period.
This was one of the coolest experiences ever.
Plus, check out all the shots of an 80s Minneapolis that no longer exists (Hotel Leamington! and in the other videos, Block E! An IDS-only skyline!)
Apparently Bryant Dumbel did not approve of Bobs guitar solo....

I like how Bob describes their sound as "popular music." Wishful thinking. I'm convinced that handlebar moustache cost them millions in record sales.

Would improve this clip 100% by cutting out the talking head. "Are you looking for commercial success?" Shaddup!

The old couple in the audience - is that the "grandma's freakin' over the attention" from "Flip You Wig"?

love this band - and in retrospect they are so obviously gay!
MassimoConnolli 2 years ago
Greg, the really gay-looking one with the handlebar moustache and cowboy hat, was in fact the only straight one.
Bob and Grant were not known as gays until about 5 years after Hüsker Dü broke up.
morgoth195 2 years ago
and the couple dancing are either Greg or Grant's parents, I can't remember which.
lectrick68 3 years ago
do you mean the ones at 1:30? Look a little old to be parents of either of them but maybe not.
