Inflation is created by excess demand over supply, price control ensures companies have no incentive to expand production or have new firms enter, creating ever higher inflation. War time inflation is caused by supply glut as alot of resources went into the manufacturing of weapons. The increase in prices are neccesary for firms to jump in and bring down inflation in the long run.
