Diablo Canyon is a sacred place for the Chumash people. Before they built the facility it was part of the 2nd to last coastal wilderness area and had some of the largest oak trees in the world. Diablo Cove was also home to the large Abalone population on the west coast. The thermal pollution killed most of those Abalone when it was first turned on.
Thanks for this!
