Once you get out of the Westside, LA is basically the barrio now.. If you're a parent raising a kid in Hollywood or Venice, you know the public schools are garbage, and the streets & beach are crawling with fiends & bums. L.A. is a dirty dump. The people here are superficial, self-absorbed and arrogant. Laid back? In Santa Monica and Venice and places in Studio City, yes, but overall people are overly uptight and assholey. Forget the Mexicans, Blacks are flocking to the valley and things are going downhill fast. Try living in an apartment with a bunch of Blacks. We hate and do not get along with the people who live in LA but are not from LA originally. Now and days everybody who say they are from LA aren't even really from LA.
