    Party Party Party

  • my group has a hard time staying together. Your tips are great and informative, but they mainly only work on PC's who actually role-play. I've found that back stories are wastes of time with my group of friends, because no cares to take them into account. I made one campaign where humans were fighting for survival against opposing races (everyone was human). after one easily won fight, they decided to help the opposing race instead against all logic and split the party. I need better players...

  • @3one7crew For players who don't care to roleplay, make the PCs "cursed." If they split up, they die ;) Check out my Quick Tip on evil PCs for more info on that.

  • The Bulk of the time, my crew ONLY stays together to keep the 'game' going... which is fine, and makes part of DMing easier. :) They also insist on 'Party treasure', and complete trust in any new PC, although they tend to kill anybody/anything else without pause. :)

Feel like I'm missing out on somma the Role Playing aspects though. :(

    Great vid.... once again. :)

  • @Pipedog42 Thanks Pipedog! Every group makes certain concessions in order to keep the game fun -- I think "party treasure" is am important one, because the only person who has fun otherwise is the rogue who steals more loot for himself.

  • This comment might seem weird, but I'm getting used to learning how to run games that don't revolve around the party mentality. I'm learning for instance that in Vampire (Masquerade, or Requiem) that it is okay for each of them to go off and do their own thing, that they can work and scheme against each other, and because of this having less players in a Vampire game is suggested. Changeling: the Lost also taught me the same thing, when my game blew up because I had 6 chars and they scattered.

  • @Samwise7RPG I've never DMed one, but campaigns without "parties" have always intrigued me. I think there's some really interesting opportunities there; this Quick Tip is for a more traditional, party-focused game.

  • Good stuff CJ. I think a lot of DMs miss out on those plot line development in lieu of just getting started.

  • @masterofflowers Thanks Bubba! I'm a staunch advocate of making the PCs an integral part of a story, rather than swappable action heroes.

  • i don't get HOW these awesome vids don't get more likes and views?

    Great as always, Rhykker.

  • @GammaDaNobz Thanks! I wish I knew more about marketing/publicity.
