Cops are often hostile for similar reasons, or celebrities, or ANYONE who hasn't asked to be filmed. Granted, you can film whoever you want in public but you can't really complain about hostility you get from filming without consent.

1) The whole point of a protest is to be heard, so why wouldn't they want their pictures taken. The people that don't want their pictures taken are covered up so they arn't revealing any distinguishing features Which means they can be video taped.

The problem is that some of these people do have identities to protect. If you don't believe that wait until you are dragged out of your house at 3 in the morning with a gun to your head then arrested for trumped charges. Many people who get photo'd won't even make it out of the city before they are singled out and harassed or worse..

These are the undercover plants by the cops. they hide their faces so they can't be recognized as frauds who are there to cause a conflict. Seen it many times in protests, it's standard for the cops to send in their own people to "watch" the protesters and see who they want to target.
