  • Hay u past me lol

  • i was there back in 2006, 2007, 2008

  • wish i could go that fat on 275 lol

  • Really enjoyed the Video.... (funny too)

  • @thebionicpig Thanks, glad you did!

  • I laughed out loud at the part between about 2:50 and 3:20. I am constantly having to pass people on the right here on I-5 because everybody thinks they should be in the fast lane. It is "sooo frustrating", as you put it.

  • @yourwifecalledagain It is downright maddening! lol.

  • Thank you. cured my homesickness for the day as well

  • @travorisnobody You are welcome, that's always nice to hear.

  • Thanks for this video I miss St Pete since I have moved back to Tx,. I remember I would really kick It on the H.R. bridge.

  • thank you for this video. i want to relocate sometime in the future. im a wayward soul in palm bay fl. and dont know where i want to drive to. i want to travel far. not only to start a new life but to have a long and awesome road trip alone. i have looked at new mexico, ohio and texas and considering some other extreme here in fla. i just dont want to live where there is snow and ice and long depressing winters lol. anyway thanks for sharing this sneak peak at st petersburg.

  • Omg you're so lucky to be in Tampa. I'm going to live there soon, I hate California.

  • You have no idea how much I enjoyed watching this.

  • love the video it brought back memories of home. im in washington now so its a really big change. my advice to everyone, stay away from wa cuz it sux here.

  • @flrdagirl21 my advice to YOU stay out of the south it sucks and full of small redneck judgmental towns!

so right back at you on that one

  • @gotthkid2 That is a small, judgmental statement in itself my friend. Small towns in the north are no different than those in the south, other than the accents, weather and sports teams the people root for.

  • @gotthkid2 I grew up in St. Pete and I left at 18. It was a small town and it sucked yes....but now I live in a small town in the north and it sucks just as much....so you can't say it's just the south. There are shitty small towns all over the friggin country!

  • Tampa is known as the Lightning Capital.

  • @om3ga5 No, Lakeland is. Tampa Bay's Hockey team is the Lightning.

  • I drove here last month when I was visiting

  • I might be moving to Tampa in about a year. I like it there. :)

  • haha the guy at 1:21 was in a hurry lol, well thats most traffic in florida haha, everyone drives 80-90 miles an hours anyways lol

  • very exciting vid. Good production and editing... Thanks for sharing.

  • Hey Jim, the road is getting an upgrade. There are some workers at 1:16. Plus the perfect song for a frustated driver. Also, you ever notice that the people you pass for driving slow end up passing you a few miles later. hahaha, great!

  • It needs it... Last June I was hitting little potholes all the way from just off the Howard Frankland down south to nearly exit 17.

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks for this also. Brings back memories of my time stationed in the area at MacDill. Keep truckin'!

  • Great video man! Brings back many memories. Its been over a year now since i put my defensive driving skills to the test on that highway. And although its crazy sometimes, It's pretty and I sure do miss it!

  • godd bless america

  • I just got back from Tampa-St. Pete and drove 275 from the airport to St Pete Beach. Do you people not know how to use your lane changing signals or what?!

  • Cool video man! I love super heavy traffic!

  • lmao 3:04 soccer mom on the fone going 55mph in the fast lane %$#!@&^

  • hahaha everyone goes 80 mph across the bridge. you got stuck behind a blonde driving an SUV, you gotta stay away from them, and mini-vans too.

  • LOL, I was not happy about that, especially when I'm filming :)

  • I don't get why people in Florida drive SUVs.

  • it's because we're not sure if we qualify as rednecks or urbanites. So we go for both

  • There are no mountainous 4x4 trails or blizzards to navigate. SUVs in a place like Florida are a monumental waste of money. Must be a status thing. No more practical station wagons, now its all minivans and SUVs.

  • SUVs come in very handy during summer thunderstorms when cars get stuck.

  • People all over the country drive SUVs not just Florida.

  • @eeektavius I could only maintain 60 on the Howard Frankland myself.. Too crowded.

  • kinda ironic how you said this road needs an upgrade-it is getting one now

  • North of downtown Tampa is where that freak threw that baby out onto the highway and killed him.

  • That was just one exit north of where the video starts.

  • THANK YOU so much for this video. It cured my home sickness for the day.

    Awesome!

  • You are welcome, glad I could help!

  • @LMRossier me too!

  • I ♥ riding on the highway like, it relaxes me.

  • Nice... I'll be driving it in June.

  • LOVE IT. reminds me of driving to my mum-in-law's at 1st st and 62nd ave in st pete. thrill of the tampa skyline, crossing the causeway, palms at eye-level...you can tell i come from the north. after hanging out at dear mum-in-law's we'd go over the skyway and on to manasota key (englewood). i love florida. she's my mistress ; ) this is an excellent vid sir.

  • Traffic in your video was actually flowing smoothly it seems, you got out lucky lol. The Howard Frankland is a mess though lol and again our wonderful Florida drivers!

  • You left out several of the exit names on the Tampa stretch before the bridge. I think you left out Sligh, Florabraska, Downtown East/West, Howard/Armenia, Himes, West Shore. Not sure if you just didn't know the names.

  • I knew the names (Wikipedia) I just decided not to list every single thing.

  • Yeah 60 mph on the Howard Frankland and everyone driving like something is shoved up their pants, sounds like Tampa to me! and you should know better someone driving in a Mercedes in the left lane is always bad news, especially in the blue hair capitol of the world!

  • Welcome to Tampa, FL. Glad you can come by. LOL 2 PM traffic on I-275, that sounds about right. Around 3:30 is when it starts to get real messy. The exit prior to Tampa Airport exit is the Westshore Blvd. Lots of action in that part of town too

  • the section of road ~1:24 is called malfunction junction i believe. grew up in dade city but drove to tampa every mon morning at 5am and thur evening at 8pm to shuttle my dad to/from TIA. memories... dale mabry, fowler, fletcher, busch blvd...

  • Wow didnt expect you to come to my area. I am guessing you took 75south from Atl to tampa?

Hey some advise for next time you come to our bridge. Take the outside right lane. For some reason people go slow in the inside lane on the bridge. I guess they are frighten of the water.LOL Alwayse take the 2 out side right lane. Alwayse empty. Your video even shows that oddity.

  • Interesting, I'll have to check my footage of the bridge for that. The video will be made later...it's a long story, but I did cross & film it in both directions.

  • Great video, reminds me of trying to drive south in I-95 in Miami

  • And people in Tampa Bay can't drive for shit either.

  • I'll drink to that!

  • Traffic is ALWAYS bad on the stretch of 275 from Downtown to the Howard Frankland.

And they are in the middle of reconstruction on that stretch too. Won't be finished till 2013.

The sad thing is, the stretch in North Tampa was upgraded a few years back between Bearss Avenue and Busch Blvd and it is still 6 lanes...

  • ha 2pm is heavy, you should see 4-6pm

  • You finally went to Florida and do some driving. Typical Florida thunderstorms on that video and you're brave to pay $4 for a gallon of gas to drive down to Florida.

  • I have more footage from Tampa, Orlando & Jacksonville still to come. I paid $4.45 for Premium in Lakeland, the most I paid the entire trip.

  • Are you driving fast or is it the editing? Did you ever get pulled over fro speeding?

  • The video is sped up 4 to 6 times normal speed, I'm driving at or slightly above the speed limit.

  • Great work! Are those palm trees in the median of the freeway? (eg @1:09) If we had interstates in Cairns, that's probably what it'd look like too!

And are the roads concrete? They'd be pretty bright and hard on the eyes during a bright summer's day! Most of our roads/highways and freeways are just black/grey bitumen.

The storm in the distance looks exactly what we get during out tropical wet season... FL has a tropical climate too, doesn't it?

  • Thank you! Yes, I think those were Palms. Most of the road is concrete and yes, Florida does have a tropical climate for the most part, more so than any place in the Continental US.

  • Everything south of Ocala,FL is tropical for the most part.

The roads in the video are concrete because most of the way the road is elevated.

Thats why you don't see many over passes.

All the surface streets go under the freeway.

  • Thanks for the road vids Jim. Because of the high fuel costs, the best we can do in traveling is virtually thru cyber space.

  • Wow, you must have a lot of free time and great job to drive cross country and pay high gas prices.

  • This was my vacation and I spent about $700 in gas for the 6 days I was on the road, ouch!

  • I used to drive from Fowler to Westshore everyday to work. The roads haven't changed too much.
