  • Great video, thanks! I'm looking for a table showing soak and sprout times for different nuts and seeds. Your 2 examples were really helpful but a table would be awesome!! Do you have one? x

  • Should I put the almonds in the fridge?

What is the best way to sprout almonds?

I've had sprouted almonds, they are pricey but I can tell a difference.

Could you add himalayan salt in the water to the almonds? Or would that be over kill.

    T

  • can I sprout almonds further to the piont they were like mung bean sprouts?

  • hi, i'm allergic to almonds, shown on a test

will soaking them remove this stuff which irritates my throat?

  • @Gregorydelange101

Why not do the test your self, start with a small piece and work your way up.

    Good Luck

  • Why can't anyone just go through the steps? dehydrate, shell, soak, dehydrate again ? soak , shell, dehydrate ? shell, dehydrate, soak? seems important.

  • Should I soak my oats / quinoa??

  • Thank you for this video! I had no idea until today that we are supposed to soak grains and seeds before eating because of the enzyme inhibitor!! I ate brown rice for two days, no wonder I'm constipated today!! And I think your pretty :)

  • I've been looking into soaking nuts so I can make my own Almond milk. I didn't even consider the other health benefits! :D

  • Thanks for the video. I have always wondered about this.

  • just ate some soaked almonds, tastes amazing, but should i eat them with or without the skin?

  • @donkeydonkey33

I saw a youtube video called "Sprouting almonds & whole peanuts :) " in it the person briefly

explains ( @ about :50 secs into the video) that too many almond skins can be toxic. I hope this helps.

  • will heating nuts destroy that layer?

  • @TheWanderingSaint

yes it will, but it will also destroy the nutrients in the nuts.

  • Only this week have I even found out I could sprout my own stuff; I've got some wheat berries soaking right now. I love bean sprouts, so that below comment is too bad. But I'll see if the Food Co-op (where I got my wheat) has raw sunflower seeds too. If you say they're very good, I'll have to try some. How about alfalfa? I love those on my sandwich along with avocado!!!

  • @djuman001 She has nice, white teeth probably because she doesn't eat meat.

  • @djuman001 You're an idiot.

  • @DeeBeeThatsMe I'm not 100% sure, but from what I understand beans aren't supposed to be sprouted, except for maybe mung beans. I don't know if you're doing a vegan raw diet, but I've heard beans are a no-no. Try sprouting sunflowers; the sprouts are delicious! Try it with carrot or sweet potato with a honey mustard viniagrette, it is so yummy!

  • Can someone answer this for me? I started soaking my almonds a few hours ago and already they have some gross stuff on it... Is that normal??

  • Please mention where you get the items you discuss in your videos. I checked Ebay for raw almonds from Spain and there was only one merchant selling them. The price was 15 plus for 1 lb of almonds and another 8 dollars for shipping. There are plenty of raw almonds offered but they all come from the US. They are much less expensive. Thanks.

  • What about the dangers of eating un-pasteurized products?

  • @fkoff99 I think that's more of an issue with things that attract fast growing & dangerous bacteria/mold/fungi... like milk products.

  • @StevenBee2 yes, moist high carbs and protein substrates

  • That was very helpful; thank you ;)\

  • can you tell me if we can do this process for any type of beans, lentils or even rice??? I am trying to make the change to raw food but I love to eat beans and lentils just wondering if the process would be the same?

  • just make 4 batches two days apart, that way you just keep rotating your supply.

  • the nutrients are in the skin, you are wasting all the goodness.

  • i soaked my walnuts for 7 hours...they are completely bland..no taste...who would want to eat a walnut that taste like crap...??? any advice or ideas...

  • Comment removed

  • @centexsucks1

    get over it

    thats how

  • @centexsucks1 I really like soaked walnuts, they can be a little more bland. Especially if they are still moist. I suggest using a dehydrator to get some of the extra water out or in your oven for a few minutes with the door open.

  • @ravencros yeah, I tried soaking nuts before a month or 2 ago, but didn't like because they tasted soggy and bland. Trying again but with dehydrating this time, hope this works better.

  • Thanks so much you're the best! And beautiful too!!

  • Oh, and one other little tip that I tried out for myself. I jsut like the taste so I am not endorsing it as some health alternative thing.

I drink green tea, if I am having it from a tea bag I keep them and when soaking sunflower seeds I put a few old/used green tea bags in there too. It adds a touch of flavour to the seeds that I love.

Again, not sure if this adds or takes away from any nutritional values but they sure taste good.

  • Very good and informative.

The other reason there are those enzymes is taht seeds are spread in bird pooh. yes, keep reading. Birds eat seeds, the seeds have enzymes in them so the bird cannot digest the seeds and poohs them out. The seeds are then spread out and can grow where they drop. Same enzymes make it harder for us to digest.

If you soak they think they are planted and they release the enzymes so as to grow.

So, soaking them fools them into thinking they can grow.

  • @maramyfriend

awesome info!! on a side note, can I continue eating bird poo?

  • can you sprout cashew?

  • @asianmanph I guess you can as they are seeds so I think they would sprout just like any other seed. Did you try it?

  • I can digest rocks XD

  • I am falling in love with this woman :o(

  • do you have to let them sprout for 2 hours after you have soaked them or can you just eat them?

  • Thanks for a great vid! I was just wondering: what is the point dehydrating the nuts or seeds after you have soaked and sprouted them with water?

  • awesome! Much metta to you :) thanks!

  • Have a friend who told me she is tested to be allergic to legumes and almonds, so sad, (she thinks so too) she gets a little puffy around the eyes and swelling when she gets into them. What I was thinking is that maybe once the bean etc. has sprouted if it would become an entirely different product, like sprouted wheat bread, wont eat whole wheat bread anymore. I don't know.

  • I'm not sure if you answer any Questions on this video or maybe anyone else who views it can help me out , will the almonds still sprout if the skin is removed ?

And i soaked some Brazil nuts and it takes about 48 hours + to get them fully soaked through . Thanks in advance : Tim from Canada .

  • @Lotum4n Did you ever get an answer or try it for yourself. I am intrigued by that!

  • @maramyfriend I didnt get a reply back : ( .............Not yet anyways. From : Tim

  • By far the best sprouting video on YouTube! I've watched way too many now trying to figure out what form the sunflowers are in before sprouting. Thanks!

  • I tried this and I am amazed at the ease of it. The difference in taste and consistency of the seeds is very great, as well. Might as well be eating a different thing. I'm so excited to find something so easy to do, and such a blessing to health.

You have a real talent for presenting things simply - and making them simple, as well. No need for jars or equipment of any kind. I like that :))

  • Hi Natasha! I was just wondering, if youve soaked almonds for 24hours and are they good to eat right away after rinsing? Or do you have to wait for them to sprout? Whats the point in sprouting anyway?

  • @PaulsBeesInTrees didn't you watch the video?

  • @vburm Yes why? Didnt you watch the video? Just watch it if you want, its free and everything :)

  • @PaulsBeesInTrees if you watched the video and you're still asking what the point in sprouting is, then you must be rather dim.

  • @gyaiff Well the point of sprouting is actually because it takes away badness from the outer layer of the skin and makes it better for us to eat and stuff. Dont worry, I didnt understand all this stuff at first either :)

  • @PaulsBeesInTrees and you still don't soaking serves a different function to sprouting. Try watching the video, it's free n all...

  • @beanmanization Thanks for the great advice. I will watch the video and try and be as clever as you :)

  • Wow...Your food traveled thousands of miles to get to you. That's so eco-friendly.

  • if I ve salted almonds, is this going to work if I soak em? Thanks.

  • @positivesoldier btw, it s sea salt and organic.

  • @positivesoldier I believe salted almonds are already cooked, so no.

  • very interesting video and informative. thank you. I eat almonds everyday on my special bodybuilding keto diet. good to know. thanks

  • thank you;)

  • THANK YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

I'm subbing to this channel right now augh!! THANK YOU!

  • Great video Natasha!

  • don't you people have better things to do than arguing with other random people on youtube? just watch the damn video and get on with your lives!!!

  • @cardiokiller Good point cardio... Farewell 369vic!!!!!

  • @andiamoci22 same goes for you billy no mates

  • @cardiokiller you and andi should get together - two billy-no-mates who like criticising good work. P**s off and mind your own business.

  • Respond to this video...Superb video with priceless information. Lots of other great videos on your website. Trying to set a date for going raw.

  • @369vic Looks like 369vic has a spamming interest in this video.Your excessive ranting only degrades the integrity of the video and it maker. Are you getting a cut on the ad profits here... The thing that caused humans to get such a highly developed brain was COOKED FOOD. Look it up. Lots of current research on it. Natural raw and cooked food is the best combo. Science Rules not advice from people who proport to know what they are talking about who dont have a basis in fact.

  • @andiamoci22 I like your appeal to science & logic, but you're making a very common false comparison here. Firstly, that our brains developed due to our switching to a diet including cooked meat is still debated among anthropologists & biologists, but even IF this is true, all it proves is that our species EVOLVED further intelligence through this diet - there is no direct comparison between that vs the intelligence of an individual person in regard to their personal diet.

  • @cardiokiller

oh yeah? don't tell me what to do - you're not the boss of me!!! :p

  • diverticulitis not divirulosis lol

  • lol the word is enzyme NOT ENZINE. your lack of correct pronunciation makes your arguments seem unplausible.Learn English.

  • @andiamoci22 Don't be so bloody picky. Same to the toad. This lady knows what she is talking about. Who gives a stuff if she mispronounces certain words (dyslexia maybe?) - I still understand exactly what she is saying. So do you so button it.

  • @369vic Its diverticulitis not "diviruculosis"as MsHoppytoad pointed out nor is it "digestive track" its digestive tract. My point is that her lack of correct knowledge of pronunciation reflects a possible lack of scientific basis for what she is claiming. I wouldnt take advice from someone who doesnt seem to know what she is talking about. Some of her advice has been questioned by the scientific community.

  • @andiamoci22 You are talking nonsense. Her mispronunciation of certain words bears absolutely no relation to her depth of knowledge of her specialist field. Further, you show your naivety when you mention the 'scientific community' as some sort of all-encompassing higher authority. Firstly, a large chunk of them are paid to produce reports that discredit 'alternative' stances on food and supplements. Their paymasters are the industries that stand to lose money if we 'go' alternative (continued)

  • @369vic I am a proponent of natural food but have grown wary of amateurs( such as the maker of this video) who pretend to know about natural food without a basis in science and fact .The escellent video debate series " raw vs cooked food" reveals how to debunk lots of "alternative myths.

I am fully aware of the dangers of the Pharma lobby however ," Alternative" is not always based on reality , fact and science. I am a naturalist so dont make assumptions.

  • Respond to this video... Her mispronunciation shows that she has little experience with science which means her advice is not necessarily based on truth fact and science. Dont get health and natural advice from home made Youtube videos!!

  • @andiamoci22 Clearly you have a closed mind and are unable to create beliefs on your own - those dictated to you are the only ones you'll accept. what a waste of your life. Many people, myself included, prefer to base our beliefs on experience. Our own that is - not others. I completely changed my life around by changing my diet. My mother was given 5 years to live as she was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. By changing her diet she is now cancer free and healthier than she ever was. cont. above

  • @andiamoci22 You would have of course opted for radiotherapy and allowed your healthy cells to be zapped. Sometimes science gets it right, sometimes wrong. You say you are a proponent of natural food. Why? because of what some scientist has told you, or because you have actually experienced the benefits?

  • @andiamoci22 Natasha was born into illness and suffered illness far more than any child should. So she set out to find ways of dealing with it. One thing she found was that raw foods improved her health and life dramatically. She experimented and discovered what worked and what didn't. She also discovered how to make it work. Now she passes on her proven discoveries to us. What she passes on are facts and truth because she proved it in practise - not theory. Science does not come into it.

  • @andiamoci22 One of the biggest industries is pharmaceuticals. If we get healthy by eating healthily then they sell less of their drugs. But surely you know this! For every scientist that discredits her advice you will find one that confirms her advice.

You are living in a bubble andi - start doing some serious research that could lead you to see a bigger picture than the postage stamp you are currently seeing, rather than giving blind faith to those who want us ignorant.

  • @369vic "you would of course have opted for radiotherapy".

OMG you are sooooo not listening to me..Dont make ASSumptions.Obviously you have your own agenda here.YOU ARE NOT ListENING TO MY ARGUMENTS.

"Science does not come into it" wow this was a very uninformed statement. If raw foods imporved her health REALLY then there is a scientific reason for it and she/you should have more respect for science. Many of us out there dont buy amateur subjectivity.READ MY LIPS : I DO NOT SUPPORT BIG PHARMA

  • @andiamoci22 But you have only made one argument and that is that Natasha's advice shouldn't be taken seriously because she sometimes mispronounces words. What a daft argument. Science? Natasha has studied and experimented. That is the science. But she is presenting what she has found. That is the point of her video. HER science is as valid as any other scientist's findings. STOP worshipping establishment scientists as though they are the only authority. AND it's not imporved, it's improved.

  • @369vic Hi Vic - I've no wish to say I'm for or against your stance & start an argument, but I find this one line of yours rather irksome: "HER science is as valid as any other scientist's findings.". All modern advancement has been brought about by a very specific form of "science" - ie the scientific method. For you to equate the value of the findings of this lovely woman's work with that of meticulous, structured, peer-reviewed scientists is a disservice to the scientific community. Be Well.

  • @andiamoci22 Look at your comment again "LOL the word is enzyme NOT ENZINE. your lack of correct pronunciation makes your arguments seem unplausible.Learn English." and Toad's "It's Diverticulitis not diverulosis LOL"

Look at the LOLs, and the insulting "Learn English"

You made the first negative comment about this video, and then little Toad latches onto it and joins in. Have a word with yourself about your attitude.

  • @andiamoci22

I doubt her feelings are hurt. Besides, I know what she's like. She's almost a dead ringer for my ex in every way-her brain is not a multitasking one & she moves at a slower pace but I learned that brain speed & the ability to multitask do not = intelligence. Also, I can tell she is the type to just get out there & fearlessly try stuff & learn by trial & error. So she is likely quite knowledgeable despite the occasional.... uhh.. semantic oversight. : )

  • i just did a video on this too! good stuff!

  • so there is no point to having almonds if they are bulk from Cali? Dont eat them at all? If I do eat them from Cali do I bother sprouting?

  • @ccm800 They won't sprout if they're pasturized...

  • @hans89 Im gonna look again...but I sprouted some almonds recently at a friends and they turned out to be ROASTED! LOL - they were brownish instead of white but they still got the little bulb sprout! I call it the Nut-on (get it?) - they mush have been presrouted or something. Gonna check another batch hahah

  • @ccm800 Yes, I got it... it depends on the temp inside the almond, I guess. If it's heated above a certain point, it won't sprout.

  • @hans89 I was REally CONFUSED with a roasted almond sprouting - but your explanation makes good sense. Another case closed - peace

  • You are awesome!!! Thank u thank u thank u :)

  • Thanks for the vids. :)

  • Thats cool thanks

  • great video!

  • I'm hungry now ..lol

wish it were easier to find raw nuts and seeds ,, and more affordable to. You'd think they'd be less expensive since there is less processing !

what do you eat for breakfast?

  • why is she saying "enzyne " its enzyme

  • Natasha, I'm in love with you! :)

  • Where can I get raw almonds???

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks for the awesome info

  • Wonderful video, Natasha! I like to get my raw seeds and nuts from love street so that I can soak and sprout them for a delicious snack :-)

  • What about walnuts?

  • he what about granola and oats how do you eat that

  • when you're letting them sit in the strainer to sprout, is it normal for the seeds to get spots and darken in colour in some areas?

  • Can you still sprout them if they're not raw if you can't get them truly raw? Thanks!!!

  • If it's not raw, it will not sprout. The heating process basically kills it.

  • do you also soak brazil nuts and walnuts?

  • yes

  • What does sprouting do to the seeds and nuts? what good?

    i loove your videos!

  • any1 soak flaxseed and sesame seed? they r messy after soakin.

  • Loving the info!!! Thank you for sharing (^_^)

  • My wheatgrass grew mold. What did I do wrong?

  • I wouldn't soak Brazil nuts either. THey have way too much oil in them.

  • Man I miss Raw Almonds. I found the spanish almonds once at a local vegetarian COOP. But it is hard to catch up with them cause I think the Raw Foodie Community in my area is hogging them all. I have heard of these buyers groups that get them from the Farms in Cali directly but they cost an arm and a leg. I just use pumkin seeds now or pepitos for milk.

  • This was such a helpful video! Im starting to learn about eating raw and I was wondering how to prep seeds and nuts. Thank you! I love you ending!

  • Hi Natasha! Hope you're doing well, you're the best!

  • That is so helpful i don't think you understand how helpful your videos are. I am finely ready to go raw and i am now able to because of your videos thank you so much. Your a huge help!

  • Whats the best way to store lentil sprouts? Should you put them in water then in the refrigerator aswell?

  • Thank you Natasha - this is such a help for those who haven't done this before! I know I will be pointing people in the direction of this video!

    Debbie *Ü*

  • chashews grown in california are also flash pasturized. so they arent raw
