  • Moive: Stuck on You, got into this tune, thanxs.

  • are they the originals to this song covered by joplin hendrix and later sublime

  • The song was written by George Gershwin for the musical Porgy and Bess, in 1935. @420420babe

  • thank u an old on will have to look up@mayasaunt

Vanguardistas

  • (:

  • C. Blunstone is one of the best vocal stylists that came out of the U.K.

  • Amazing sound.

  • BILL GATES IN THIS '60s BAND TOO!

  • 50`s 60`s and 70`s will rule again! when the whole worl´ll get tired of the commercial and awful music of nowadays

  • 2 people dislike this? I hope you die soon.

  • what did you mentioned about ancient greece? i don't understand, please translate :) thanks!! greetings from sunny Greece :D

  • Muito bom. Alexandre . Rio de Janeiro.Brasil.

    muchas gracias !

  • This is an ideal song for Colin's voice.

  • so fantastic

  • if this is on Ready Steady Go then I think it may be Dusty springfield stading to the right of the drumset....you can see her pretty well at :36 .....she hosted some of these and I heard she hung out with the Zombies.....I loved Shes Not There when I was a kid....and this is beautiful.....thank you

  • ALLISON IRAHETA sucks big time! Don't waste your time on her!

  • FANTASTIC!!!!

  • The Zombies never quite got far enough away from their jazz beginnings to be taken seriously by the younger pop audience - but strayed too far to keep their beatnick older fans loyal. Colin Blunstone and Rod Argent were fiercely talented, but always sounded vaguely like knitted sweaters.

Something very similar went amiss with Fine Young Cannibals, thirty years later.

  • Best rock singer ever and the best keyboard player ever both in the same band (and they still sound great 40+ years later)...it's a travesty that this band isn't in the R&R Hall of Fame.

  • @davidsheridannj I agree. And Blunstone here showed just how much he could do with that great voice.

  • Rod Argent , Fender Rodes piano

  • Very NICE! Didn't know there was footage of this song! : )

  • SUPREME !!

  • This is really nice but for me there is nothing like Sam Cooke's version. That one gives me chills! But this is cool b/c it adds a different twist.

  • When I was in college, I bought the "Time of the Zombies" anthology, which was a great addition to my music collection. The one cut on it that really blew me away, though, was this Colin Blunstone rendition of the George Gershwin-DuBose Heyward standard "Summertime" (from 1935's "Porgy and Bess"). When so many rock singers could not carry a tune to save their lives, Colin Blunstone could have been a star in any era of popular music. This is a classic rendition of a classic song!

  • ilove this version

  • i love forever Colin Blunstone

  • woooo zombiessss!!! ki melloo

  • Well, DaveG130, I guess it comes down, as it always does, to a matter of taste - and who can argue with that? For me, there is more to singing than simply being on key.

  • The Zombies were always as smooth as silk.

On the other hand, one of my life's continuing mysteries is why Janis Joplin was and is revered by so many. Her singing - let's call it that - was a pitched battle between slurring and croaking that was so often taken for passion!

  • I thought the same about Janis, but I could never find a tune where she is EVER off-key. Yeah, she's a bit shrill, but her art was art. Let me know if you find one.

  • @WeeWyllie

Janis was revered because of her INTENSE vocals and SOUL in her harsh, painful vocal stylings. That was her gift to rock & roll - wailing, crying, screaming out pain in her lyrics, and in key. She shocked us with the despair of her songs, so Janis was the premier FEMALE rock/soul singer of the time and still carries that crown. Janis will always be THE first true female ROCK sensation.

Luckily, I see ALLISON IRAHETA today hitting Janis-style soul with honey. Check her out on iTunes.

  • Did I spot a John Lennon poster in the background at around 1:50?

  • Am not sure here, but from the closeup of the left wall in this clip looks to be from the Associated-Rediffusion British Pop TV Show "Ready,Steady,Go!",shamefuly unreleased series, rights owned by Dave Clark,Yep,from The Dave Clark Five.Cmon Dave, give us fans a break, have waited long enough :-j

  • @topofthepopsguy Correct,TOTPGuy,this IS from RSG.I have a bootleg DVD of this episode which also featured The Beatles.

  • Janis had a great version obviously - but when you hear a Zombie song , it a whole different experience my friends, they put you in a trance, that is the special gift they have & that is why w/o a doubt one the gretaest acts in musical history,

    Zombie power !!

  • george gershwin wrote this song as i think and the best cover is by Billy Stewart....i

  • sublime stole this

  • aha they did!

  • There has to be at least 60 cover of this song..

  • They NEVER give a good view of Rod Argent playing a solo in the old days.. I hardly see him..

I'm 15 and the Zombies are my favourite band, I think :P. I saw them 27 November live, and it was a wonderful evening! :D

  • i miss the organ

  • This is great. I didn't know they even did this! They're one of the best 60's bands.

  • I LOVE THIS ...SUNG TO PERFECTION!!!

  • gershwin! who knew????

  • Did not know the Zombies did a cover on this song. Did a pretty good job to.

  • I'm 15 and I love these guys, modern music is getting worse each day

  • I'm glad to hear this.. I'm older than you but when i was your age people thought it was "weird" that i liked older music. Still do, music is ageless, some people don't realize that.

  • Completely agreed. Only modern music I listen to these days is Indie stuff... the only genre that still carries the tradition of good songwriting...

  • well said

  • @WhyWeSkate - Modern music is fine. Modern mainstream music is pretty much complete garbage though.

  • wonderful. :) the smooth voice...

  • i am 16 and i freaking love the zombies. they live on. =]

  • Gershwin + The Zombies. I love it.

  • Underrated by 15 yr olds maybes. I'm 27 and we all loved them in college. Memories latch on to their songs and one finds oneself having an entire period in life summed up by a single Zombie song

  • awesome, this was one of the bands that got me through hs

  • im 15 and i gota say this band is amazing and under-rated

  • wow...

  • Hermoso, irresistible.. fantastico..

    como una lluvia de verano...

  • Great. Love this song. It's an interesting idea to have the singer sitting farther away from the rest of the band. Like many shows, this was probably lip-synched.

  • aah, sweet sweet music. love it.

  • my first summer in life 1965

  • anyone notice teh pictures of john lennon and ringo starr at 0:32

  • what a voice

  • absolutamente delicioso

  • It doesn't get much better than this! He looks and sounds like an angel..

  • The Zombies are amazing, they have such great songs!! I wish they got known better; amazing performance..i love the tune to this song....this IS MUSIC!

  • He has... one of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard. Something about The Zombies playing slow, mellow beats like this just make me drift off to a better place... They're so underrated!

  • Danke, Thank you for the video!!!!

  • Colin Blunstone, the most angelic voice of pop music.

  • @robertlaberge I was just about to say that. :)
