  • great vid. Most informative. Can't wait to try it.

  • Dear Megan, wow thanks so much for this video. I have tried to do andean

method like this for 2 years, I love that you did this video close up . i finally get it!! thank you forever,

    grace in vt

ps, see my fiber joys channel, posted this video there

  • just wanted to thank you SO much for your spinning vids, especially this one, which has been a great help now that my handspun has gotten fine enough to make plying a realistic option.

  • would it be a little less tricky if you turned the ball of yarn around, and pulled directly from the middle of the yarn as well as the outside in the same direction? just a thought...or pull the center yyarn along your wrist through the center until it comes out the other side?

  • Also, another way to prevent the "blue fingers" problem that I've found is to Andean ply on a tool, or onto a book with a tongue-depressor inserted in the pages. There's tons of ways to ply, I'm just demonstrating one classicethod here. If you like it, use it. If not, your preferred method is just as good!

  • You certainly can ply from both ends of a center-pull, but many people often get tangled up in this method.

  • Why not just ply from both ends of the center pull ball?

I usually do two seperate singles (more yardage in the skein that way) and if one is longer than the other (always works that way) I do an Andean bracelet, attach the end of the longer ball to the end of the shorter one, and finish plying that way.....then I don't have as much wound and my finger doesn't turn blue (that looked uncomfortable)

  • @Saperry1 how would this result in more yardage? aren't you working with the same amount of roving?

  • This was really helpful - good clear instruction and demonstration. Thanks.

  • I had never thought about that its smart

  • Nice job.

  • very useful video thanks.

  • Hi. You're still just as pretty as I remember you. I didn't pay any attention to the yarn. Ha ha.

  • This is the best video I have seen yet for andean plying. thanks for sharing.

  • Megan, thanks for sharing this is the best video I have seen for andean plying.

  • Thanks for posting this. I'm new and this is my go to video. I love that it creates and even skein. No waste!

  • The Andean bracelet looks very interesting but then after all that winding you are the having to wind it again into a double stranded centre pull ball before you can begin your plying.

Why don't you simply use two centre pull balls instead of the andean bracelet? Is there an advantage to your method that I am not 'getting'?
