This segment remind me of the times everybody got a taste playing instruments in all those basement grooves we did waaaaay back when. Bootsy took that to a whole 'nother level!!!!
BOOTSY was here last year at a funeral and when he got up to say his commentts he said, "Well they told us to only take 2 minutes to speak on Zion bcuz yall know I CAN GO ON AND AN BABA, I ALMOST SCREAMED BCUZ HE SAID IT IN HIS SINGING VOICE. AND THEN HE HUGGED MY TEACHER STANDING NEXT TO ME AND THAT PUT US FACE TO FACE, HE WINKED AT ME IN SOME BADDD AZZZ GLASSES. AND HIS WIFE IS BEAUTIFUL IN PERSON.
Landover as in Landover Maryland? If so, I saw Dead shows there. Many cool folks and OG's in those parts. I was in a funk band in D.C. This is where racism fades away and we're all JB's children. I miss the vibe so much. I live in a yuppie place now. :-(
My 1st time seeing Bootsy was @ the L.A. Coliseum.. He was scheduled to come on after the Bros. Johnson who tore it up!! Louis * George swapped guitars right in the middle during their riff on Strawberry Letter 22 ( the bridge).. Anyways Bootzy the character he was wasn't about to appear till the sun was far set which Bros. Johnson were amidst twilight!!! 1977!!! Ghostlyhaberdasheries in effect!!!
tooooo funky this is so groovy,, love it ,,,,,,,, a new refreshing after workking on the opera nigthclub and hearing the lame music from today.... love this yeap
Wow this was 8 years before i was born. Man was i born in the wrong decade for music. This shit is so freaky funky i just grew an afro :) Oh and did i mention im from Cincinnati! Something this funky can only come from one place baby, CINCINNAT!!!
It's what AntonioMainenti said: The Pinocchio Theory. Bootsy was chanting the One Nation lyric, but they weren't doing the music from One Nation. I assume you were talking about the horns at the end which were definitely from Pinocchio Theory.
Capitol Center had the greatest concerts. Saw Bootsy & P Funk there a few times & always left w/my ears ringing. Bootsy played so loud. Where have all the good times gone?
U fuckn dum..If u had common since Bootsy was tryin to get the whole CROWD..AUDIENCE..FANS which ever u perfer to sing along with him..Y the fuck u think after like 4 bars he tells the Rubberband stop so he kan LET THE PEOPLE FEEL THE FUNK N CONNECT WIT THE MOTHERSHIP!!! Get ya shit right n step ya game up Baby Bubba! chuuch.
I 1978, he came to my city with his Rubber Band, and they jammed their azzes off for real, man i can feel that funk from that Space Bass of his that night!
I had all of Bootsy's albums as a teenager but never saw him live until I was 35( saw funkadelic in 78) but after waiting all those years I went to a show and bootsy reach his hand out to the audience and i missed it, I was like DAM!! But he jump off stage and ran and disappeared into the crowd(to watch the band jam alone) And the next thing I know Bootsy has his arms around me and my lady for about 5 minutes sweating and bobbing his head to the music. I'll never forget that ever!!! OK BYE!!!
@162berto DAMN FAM!!! That was some cool ass shit!! That same thing happen 2 me with Roger Troutman's last time in Seattle..out of all the people in the house he sat at the table with me and my lady friend...Thank U FAM 4 sharing LOVE!! PEACE!!
I saw this tour from the 3rd row. As soon as Bootsy hit the stage everybody in the arena got off their seat. I turned around and saw thousands jammin'

the live version of Psychoticbumpschool has one of the dirtiest bass lines in the history of dance music. You must listen to Live in Louisville for more.
I was just recalling what James Brown said to Kush during "Escapism": "Kush, you oughtta be ashamed of yourself-leave that little horn alone!!!" Don't you just want to say the same to Bootsy and his bass? The band is hot, too.
Man, I'm just sitting here shaking my head. Why can't there be funk like this anymore? I wish I could have been there. I'm wearing headphones, and my wife said I sounded like I was groaning. I said I was. I guess I was having a funk-asm.
anyone know where i can download the live landover performance or get it in mp3 format? id love to have this stuff on my ipod. i like the live stuff over the studio recordings.

regardless, bernie is the main keyboard player on ahh the name's bootsy(the album with rubber duckie) not joel razor sharp johnson. so it's bernie or razor sharp trying to bite on bernie's style, but honestly on the bootsy's new rubberband dvd from japan, razor and daffy duck play mostly all the rhythm keyboards while bernie destroys all those cool synthesizer noises and string thangs thats why i don't think razor would try to sound like that.
I see what you're saying and don't get me wrong I love BW's licks on the Bootsy lps esp tracks like Under the Influence of a Groove. BW is oft imitated but never duplicated. Listen to it real close, dont' you think Bernie would have been a lil more colorful added a lil more texture to it, it would be smoother like seamless silk. I think it's Razor going for BW style.
