I personally use VGA sometimes, it has better response in some games than DVI... especially with my 24" Samsung for some reason. Odd that the digital signal would case a delay in my mouse more than an analog... but it's terrible. With DVI I get about a 5-8ms response, but with DVI it's almost breaking 20ms! Wtf is that?

If you'r gonna upgrade from LGA 775 to LGA 1155 to get the most FPS in games is not a good choice.

instead get a hulk Video Card, the GTX 580 / 590 it will be cheaper to upgrade with the GTX 580 if you get the GTX 590 it will be almost the same cost with a new cpu,MB and DDR3 Memory with your OG card with no hug boost in game FPS. I have almost the same rig as you but for me FPS is not so important in games so I will be upgrading at a cost of $750 for new rig. cpu,MB,MEM

Not completley true, the New Gen GeForce cards will be CPU bottlenecked.

But the best bang for $ initially is graphics upgrades

If you're looking to not spend so much, there's always the i5 2500K as well. You don't need an i7 for good gaming. The i5 2500K is an excellent processor. Easy overclock, powerful, stable, and around 200 dollars.

But to improve FPS, I would suggest upgrading your video card first.
