Right on Utah protesters!!! I'm happy to see this movement. There is supposed to be a seperation of religion and State but unfortunately this is not the case here in Utah. I feel bad that our State gets so much negativety with the mormon religion... their is a lot of good people who live here who are not mormon!! I am proud of these people who attended the protest!

Mormons were against the civil rights movement in the 60's plus they didn't allow blacks in the priesthood till 1978. The ban was lifted because they were targeted as being racists...or according to the Mormons, there was a "prophetic revelation".

Hopefully the mormons will think twice about denying us equality the next time same-sex marriage makes it to the ballot. Someday, gay marriage will be as commonplace and as much a non-issue as interracial marriage is today. I understand and respect your choice to believe how you choose.(which is protected by the Constitution) However the Bible is not the Constitution and there in lies the problem, our country is not governed by the bible... Which seems to be the driving force for prop 8 and clearly not civil or Constitutionally motivated..

This is a free country we can protest when and where we like. Just like hundreds of Mormons in Utah sent money to another state for something on thier ballots. We The people of utah who don't agree can stand up to the church whos leaders of that church incourged their members to vote for prop 8 and send money and call and visit with nieghbors etc... in the end, the civil rights of individualistic people (gays) who are tax paying citizens and fight in the military for our freedom cannot be denied as they are now. One of the main reasons people are protesting is that Prop 8 passed in California not because the will of THEIR people but because the Mormon Church misused their tax exempt status as a religious organization which prohibits them from direct involvement in campaigns for a specific political office as well direct lobbying of legislator. They broke IRS Tax Law and I hope they now have to pay taxes like the rest of the lobbyists. Look it up junior.
