  • This band fucking rules!

  • Dedicate to my everlasting soul... THE FOREST... Immortal song from the great ANNATHAR!!!

  • this band is just great!!!

  • humanity sucks.

  • P.S. Im really pumped to see sum wicked BM coming out of canada since im canadian. #+}

  • @daneliuk91 then, i highly recommend you try Threne, by Sui Caedere. Not only the best Canadian black metal band in my opinion, but one of the best black metal albums i've ever heard.

good song writng + touching atmosphere + harrowing vocals + wretched lyrics (emile nilligan poems)

  • Theres nothing that describes the pain in his vocals and the melodic break down of the guitar... myself being a guitarist and musician of all metal am captured by the epicness.

  • Great BM from a great country, <3 Quebec, Canada BM!

  • Perfect !!!!!!

  • Beyond the veil of time

    Sleeps in eternity

    The forest of quintessence

    SOMBRES FORÊTS EST TRÈS GRAND!!!

  • The first snow of the year has fallen yesterday in my hometown.

I took a walk at the evening while listening to "Royaume De Glace".

    Just a perfect day.

  • Right now, september 24, 19:59, Sombres Forêts is playing at Théatre Plaza. I couldn't go see him, and I know this is going to be something I'll regret for a long time.

This music is true, it is a rush of sincerity that reminds us how far we are from our true nature.

  • Right now, 19;52, 24 september, Sombres Forêts is playing at the Théatre Plaza, in Montreal. I've a poster saying this, and I wanted him to autograph it. I couldn't go see him and I know that this is going to be something i'll regret for a long time.

  • Du pur black métal dont la beauté et la spiritualité ne peut être comprise que par une poignée de personnes (et heureusement)..

    Magnifique.

  • 1:10 is breathtaking

  • true sound. real. music to me isnt good unless you can feel it or it paints a landscape or something like that. bm is good for landscapes, i think.

  • This song is so fucking generic it's painful. Why do I bother listening to people on the internet? They just lead me to shit music.

Oh golly, piano, overly distorted guitars and some guy screaming in a really raspy voice about some inaudible shit-- WHAT PIONEERS OF METAL!

  • @Knarf009

I'm so happy that douchebags like you can't understand this style of music, Its pure emotion, pure feeling sent directly trought music..

Go listen to your douchebag music and don't bother commenting on real music that only few people can really understand..

  • @Marc716 Or, here is an alternative: this is the type of music losers listen to and pretend to appreciate to feel important.

This music is fucking nonsense. You get some amateur drummer hitting cymbals nonstop and then some shit vocalist starts screaming in a way that's going to ruin his voice in a couple years and somehow people call it deep-- because HURR DURR ITZ RAW EMOTION. No, it's rubbish made by losers who got teased in highschool.

  • @Knarf009 0/10

    Don't feed the trolls.

Also, beautiful band; I am glad to have discovered them.

I'd love to live somewhere up north, seeing as where I live it never snows.

Hopefully this dream will one day be fulfilled.

  • @whowasthatuser Oh my gawd! You go to 4chan too! ^ - ^

    SO KAWAII!

  • @Knarf009 Obvious troll is obvious.

  • @ScrabbitTheRabbit Keep telling yourself that. Show this music to normal people, or people who teach music for a living (if you're into thinking everyone is stupid) and see if their opinion isn't identical to mine. The vocalist is going to ruin his voice for the rest of his life and will never be able to sing normal music after he grows out of this phase.

  • @Knarf009 I have several tutors in college who love this and I myself teach music semi-professionally. Try harder.

  • @ScrabbitTheRabbit Certainly not vocal teachers, and community college doesn't count. Also, there is no such thing as "semi-profession", if you get paid for doing it then you're a professional.

    Confirmed for complete retard.

  • @Knarf009 Amongst them is a vocal tutor? Oh, and I teach vocals, too, I'm well aware the man's technique is bad but I don't think of that when listening to music for leisure. And the hell is a community college? I don't think we have them here, I got to a music college. As in a college specifically for those studying music. And it's a semi-profession because I require a day job, teaching earns me some pocket money, I teach one-to-one, which is very rarely considered completely professional.

  • @Knarf009 And confirmed for retard? Says the man with no solid arguments or concept of subjectivity. Just because YOU do not personally like it does NOT make it objectively bad. The song is played in time and has a very solid melodic and harmonic progression, one which is very consonant, I might add. The only things here that would be disagreeable to "normal people's" ears are the vocals and production.

You're either a troll or very, very stupid and are clearly not an educated musician.

  • @ScrabbitTheRabbit Or perhaps that it has a bland structure, is repetitive, clouded with over use of cymbals, and over all a generic attempt at black metal. It lacks innovation and creativity and is noisy for no reason. The majority of the song is throaty incoherent screaming with cymbals played unceasingly over that as a faint melody is played in that mess of noise. Then the significant changes in the song lack any emotional significance. The song is immature and bland; it's garbage.

  • @Knarf009 Repetition is a nigh-ubiquitous trait of black metal, and this song is less repetitive than many of the classics of the genre. In terms of playing, the cymbals are not utilized much more than in any other drumbeat, these are fairly standard rock beats, to be perfectly honest. They are perhaps over-emphasized in the mix, but not to an insane degree, the rest of the kit is still audible. And I'd say the guitars are much more prominent than the vocals.

  • @Knarf009 And 'noisy for no reason'? This is positively tame by black metal standards. In fact it averts many of the typical traits of BM (high tempos, aggressive rhythms, blastbeats) in favour of a more melodic and subdued sound. Honestly, the ONLY abrasive things about this song are the vocals and possibly the production (which, again, isn't that raw by BM standards).

  • @ScrabbitTheRabbit You say it's tame as if that makes it good. That's like someone serving you a plate with a small turd on it and when you complain they say "well that's a small turd compared to what I served everyone else!"

And what's most abrasive is the constant fucking cymbals! That's NOT how you use cymbals.

I could stand the throat ruining screaming if there was some semblance of rhythm that wasn't clouded by fucking CYMBALS. Venom did black metal right, this band just made noise.

  • @Knarf009 I say "tame" because it is NOT noisy in the slightest. I mean, fuck! Venom played with far worse timing, MUCH more abrasive production and far more extreme, less melodic music. To use your "normal person" argument again, if you showed this, then Venom to a "normal" person, this would come out more favourably because it's actually consonant. This isn't to say I don't like Venom, but seriously, you MUST be trolling. Nobody can find anything abrasive about this (no not even CYMBALS)...

  • ... and not find Venom abrasive. It makes literally zero sense. They're not even the same kind of black metal, what Venom play is very different to what would later become recognized as black metal.

  • @ScrabbitTheRabbit That's because Venom doesn't use incoherent screams and avoids obnoxious drum beats. It's more or less early goth and metal fused.

And Venom has plenty in common with Satyricon which is modern black metal so it's not that different.

What has changed over time is the iconic vocal style of black metal and an added emphasis on melodic elements (which to me isn't very "black").

Speaking of Satyricon though, that's another band that's a hell of a lot better than this one.

  • @Marc716 Thats how douchebag and fucktard like you interpret it indeed....You have to be a fucking no life douchebag to waste your time saying shit about video you dont even like...wow get a life and then I will listen to your stupid ass shit comment sayin what I should listen to...rofl poor american kid

  • @Marc716

Dude, you're being such a fag. Black Metal doesn't need some internet knight to come and defend it.

  • *Geek

  • I have had no contact with BM at all before but since ive gotten to know you I feel like it is my obligation to listen carefully to these songs and try to understand them. To me BM is like opera. Big feelings and big expressions. Nothing held back.'

I enjoy this song. It puts me in "fantasy-esque" landscapes.

    I'm an RPG geel. :)

  • Very well analyzed, that is my interpretation as well. Raw feelings and emotions, released with full force and with no regard for musical and expressional boundaries. This, to me, is a tragic yet extremely passionate and touching hymn to the forest, the mighty winter and the nature, away from the dismal obligations of the human society.

  • Listen to the part at 1:10 where the acoustic guitars come in. With all his force, he unleashes his passionate love and unsuppressed hatred with an all-releasing scream of sheer emotion: "The forest in which I sleep, is a shelter from humanity". Brilliance.

  • This music is akin to punk and other expressions in that the emotional output and expression takes presidence over the other aspects of the music, which is not very complex. Mabey it's my untrained ear but I come upon a "wall of guittars" backed by a slow, stomping, basic rhythm.

To me the essence or this art is to project feelings. It is sometimes simplistic nut that is the point. A simple, emotionally charged stroke of pitch black put accross a white canvas.

    It is what it is.

  • @Biomisere dats down ass shit,,,,
