J'adore cette chanson qui est très émouvante, surtout en live comme ici. Le décor, les vêtements...sont un peu kitsch mais ce que nous délivre Joanie reste intemporel ;-) merci bcp pour cette vidéo!
We're back from the concert and enjoyed it a great lot.
Opener was "Farewell ..." and she sang "Love is just ..." and "Diamonds ..." but sadly none of the all time faves apart from that.
Instead she sang 4 songs in German - which was a nice gesture and funny to look at as she sang it from a paper with phonetic language. This was perfect for my mom as she doesn't know a lot of English.
I do think she is very kind and sweet. I wouldn't mind being taken for a little girl. There is plenty of time left to look old...
I hope she comes back to Europe next year. Incidentally I went to see Bob Dylan a couple of years ago. He was appalling and I left early as the enjoyment was just not there.
Didn't mind being patted:-)Funny situation though.
I hope for next year, too. But then she stops more often in GB... And I read in a quality mag interview, that she seriously thinks about "retiring" as her voice is letting her down :-(
I went to see Dylan when I was 14 - he appears so gruff. But he seemed to like me. I was front row and got a lot of eye contact - yes, he's capable of that! He played well, just not a lovable person.
Btw, JB mocked his singing yesterday. Perfect impersonation :-)
JB is back in England during July for 4 concerts and my tickets for the Harrowgate event on July 9th. have just arrived. The last time I saw her, was the first time ever, but now I know what to expect I am sure that I will enjoy it even more.
There are different legends, where Joan wrote "For Sasha". Of course many people think, it was in Heidelberg. In one german concert last year, she said to the audience, when she introduced the song: "I think it was in Berlin. I was very hungry that evening. And after dinner I couldn´t sleep - so I wrote this song for my german audience."

I've always wanted to know what Joan Baez looks like. That song was beautiful.

I've always loved this song. I'm amazed she used the real version on that show

Its not just that she has a good voice its the raw emotion she shares with her audience.

As Kermit says 'A living legend and a real nice lady as well'. I watched her in concert in England last night and she takes your breath away.

I'll see her in Germany in 9 days. Can't wait. What old songs are on the set list? - I am taking my mum for a birthday present.
Thanks, Christine

I am sure that afterwards you and your mum will think that it was just magic. She sang all the favourites;
Love is just a four letter word
The night they drove old dixie down
Diamonds and Rust
Joe Hill
Farewell Angelina
You have something to look forward to!

Continued:
And she sang "For Sasha" because she composed it in the city of Mannheim (where our concert was) when she was on tour here for the first time.
After the concert we managed to get a meet and greet. My mum had her LPs signed and I had two pictures taken.
People often think I'm A LOT younger than I really am - which is 27 - and funnily J.B. patted my head when we left. :-D
